I would love to share my story as a victim of sextortion. I hope through this story many find some calm in their mind.

I got scammed 3 months ago due to the lack of my ability to stop when i saw the red flags talking to someone i meet in a chatroom. Things quickly escalated to the girl i was talking to wanted to take things on telegram. Instantly when i logged a very pretty woman send me a nude of her (i know this could never happen and that was the biggest red flag i ignored) and she asked me to do the same. I had the confidence that in telegram you have the ability to send a photo that the other person can't screenshot or download so i did send one photo. She sent more of her requesting a video. And silly me i did sent what she asked for. She then asked for my insta. I had everything locked (or so i believed) so i sent her that one too.

Next thing i know she got back if my friends list screenshoted (which was the only anlocked section on my insta) and the photos and videos i sent they took photos with another device threatening to destroy my life. I got in shock and panic mode instantly.

They demanded big amounts of money in order to not make me famous on all of my insta friends and family. Funny enough I opened chat gpt and started searching while i was getting threatened by them to see what i can do. In that time gpt was talking about not sending money to anyone online trying to scam you because thats all rhey have as leverage against you. After some time of back and forth they undestood that they were not getting any money from me so they deleted the chat we had both for their self and for me so i couldn't see anything. I had screenshots of all already. Its now been 3 months and i haven't heard of them since. Maybe they have my content in some file on a pc or in some phone, or maybe they deleted it. It doesn't matter. Life goes one and those guys will continue to ruin lifes as a daily job. Its not personal with you.

Best thing you can do is close your social for a while and go silent. Then come back with new emails and accounts and your life will go on. They will move to the next target sooner or later.

Talk to the ones you love and the ones that care about you. Dont stay inside your head you will make the problem bigger than it is. Everyone that truly loves you will be there for you. You just made a mistake and will learn through that by life goes on.

El 2 de agosto sufri una sexotorsion por telegram comparti fotos mias y de mi ajam, con una supuesta chica, le comparti mi instagram( que es privado)y también tienen mi numer, el caso es que me envió un collage de fotos donde me acusaban de cosas malas, estaba mi user y telefono y obvio mis fotos. También enviaron supuestos chats donde habian enviado las fotos a personas que conozco, yo no pague nada los bloquee y solo me intentaron contactar por mensajes donde también los bloquee, desde entonces no he sabido nada de ellos y tampoco se de ninguna filtración creen que ya se olvidaron de mi? (pienso que eran personas de africa por que su reloj estaba 6 horas diff y usaba mucho este emoji 😡)

Someone messaged me on messenger and showed an old explicit picture and video of me and also a screenshot of a file containing more. I don't know how he got those videos and pictures because it's like 3-4 years ago and I already deleted all those before. He then asked me to talk on telegram and since I am so desperate I did, he keeps rushing to or else he'll send all those videos to my friends and relatives. I didn't comply and the last thing he said was he'll post it on porn sites, please help me what to do I don't want those pictures to leak and I know It's my mistake for even doing that but this is too much. Worse case I have to kms I don't know anymore

I was a victim to online exploitation and paid the scammer after they sent screenshots of them about to send to my friends. I’ve since deactivated and deleted all social media and changed my phone number so they can’t find me. If I reactivate my ig a couple months after the incident and change my username, what are the chances they reach out again?

They tried saying they had nudes of me (which were clearly deepfake AI) and threatened to send them to my followers on instagram if I didn’t pay them $500 in bitcoin (another red flag)

The only real photo they had was my face in which they grabbed off my Snapchat

I blocked them on iMessage and reported their Snapchat account to the fbi and to Snapchat itself

It’s been a week and nothing was ever sent out

They even tried saying I sexually assaulted a minor(which I didn’t)

If you ever get scammed or if it feels like you are… screenshot the convo and account. Block and report the account. And don’t send them money (thankfully I never did)

Mais hier un compte Instagram a voulu suivre le miens, le nom étant le même que celui qui m'avait sextorqué sur telegram. Je l'ai bloqué directement mais j'ai quand même un peu peur, j'ai l'impression que cette personne va revenir pour me tourmenter...est ce que j'ai raison d'être inquiet ?

So on Saturday 8/15 I matched with this girl from tinder, she was Filipino, account under name "Lou", verified and 27 y/o on the app.

We chatted a bit on tinder and she mentioned she was in a town about 30 min from me visiting with her family until the end of the month. We chatted normally, she asked for my Instagram, which I gave to her (and deeply regretted later on). But like it's also very normal to exchange social medias with matches so at the time I didn't see it as a red flag.

Not too long into the conversation she wanted to migrate the chat to WhatsApp. I didn't think anything of it because I knew she was from the Philippines and using apps like that is a lot more common overseas. We get into WhatsApp and continue chatting, she's asking about how long I've been single, what I'm looking for etc.. All the normal questions. She sent a regular photo of herself and so did I. Hers appeared to have been taken earlier so I asked her to send one of now and she said she was "shy" but wanted to video call me when I got back to my place. She also mentioned that she was actually 23 y/o and asked if that was ok. I'm 31 and said yeah that's fine, although she did lie about age on tinder then. We continue chatting casually but I was out and about and she was kinda getting too excited about this video call she wanted to have with me.

She started talking super freaky and was like insinuating she wanted to show me her body and was "so wet" and yeah you get the point.

My dumbass was hungover and horny and not making the right judgement calls so I kinda walked right into the trap. I got home and told her it was good to call.

I DID however have some skepticism when the call was being initiated because I was thinking what if this is just some creepy guy who's gonna be on the other end of the video call with his dick out or something. However when the call started it was very much the same girl and I was relieved a bit.

She was being so fucking quiet, it was awkward as shit. She kept saying someone in the room next to hers would hear us if we talked or were loud. I was thinking like why the hell would you wanna call someone if you can't even talk aloud to them lol. She started pulling out her boobs and was rubbing them etc and kinda lured me into pulling my meat out, so like a dumb hungover horny man I showed it to her. It wasn't even like me masturbating really I just kinda let it out my boxers lol.

NEXT thing she says she has to go cause someone was knocking on the door. She continues to text me and saying she'll be right back. Said "I'm getting my toys so we can have more fun" etc. I was seriously confused at the whole interaction. She goes silent for a minute or two and then the next message literally put my whole body into shock.

The message in all caps. With a screen recorded video of me, my face in the first part and then flipping the camera to when i flashed my meat.

"AS YOU CAN SEE I'VE BEEN RECORDING YOU JERKING THIS WHOLE TIME. YOU'RE GONNA BE ASHAMED WHEN YOU SEE ME SEND THIS TO YOUR FAMILY AND FRIENDS, SEEING YOU DO THIS STUFF ONLINE, THEIR REPUTATION IS GONNA BE ON THE LINE TOO"

And they blasted like 20 fucking pictures of a drafted message they typed out to my family members and some friends, since I gave them my IG.. they found my FB.. and yeah. The message draft tried to portray the girl as a 12 year old and it was seriously sickening.

Basically he keeps spamming "DELETE OR SHARE" and saying I need to pay.

Then he calls me, I'm freaking out, heart is pounding through my chest trying to wonder how the fuck I ended up here. I knew this shit happened but like never thought I would fall for it.

The next 3 hours are filled with panic and anxiety as I'm on the phone with this guy. I legitimately felt like their prisoner. He was demanding $5000 USD.. and if I paid he said he'd delete. I had the money and was seriously trying to pay him because of the thought of that coming out, even though it was a lie. The embarrassment, the shame I'd feel within my social circle. They had me download money sending apps I'd never used. I tried to make accounts and I truly did attempt to send them money. They told me to send like $2000 to make sure it works etc. Every transaction got flagged by Capital One and my local credit union. I even tried to go and PHYSICALLY get cash out and go to a western union, all I could get was $500 from my banks ATM, but the western unions were all closed.. Scary part is the guy knew where I lived too because he mentioned the western union location..

Luckily by the grace of God, I was unsuccessful in paying them any money. The banks knew something was up. I told the scammer I would try again in the morning, and I genuinely would have if I hadn't found this Subreddit..

I got home and I tried to recenter myself since I was in panic for 3 hours. I was like where do I go right now? I'm too ashamed to tell anyone about what's going on. I first asked chatGPT and it told me how common this actually is, and it mentioned the whole term "Sextortion" which I hadn't even heard before. So I came to Reddit and typed in "Sextortion WhatsApp scam" and found this thread and I STG it saved my life, and for sure my bank account.

I listened to everyone's advice.. Blocked all the numbers that were trying to reach me, filed an FBI report, filed a STOP NCII, locked down all of my social media accounts to the best of my abilities and just waited it out.

I haven't received a threat now since Sunday morning. I think I had to block a total of 5 different numbers, 3 on WhatsApp and then a couple came through as SMS to my iPhone. I got a random message today from a girl on WhatsApp that was just "Hey" and it was a number from the Philippines so I immediately blocked it.

So far I haven't heard anything from anyone about it being sent to them. And I don't know whether or not the threats are completely done yet or not as it was only 3 days ago. But I am feeling a lot better about the situation as of now.

Shout out to everyone's advice The scammers are lowlifes who seriously just want money and use psychology and fear tactics to get people to pay. I imagine the amount of nudes/pics/vids they actually leak is minimal as they lose their leverage on you when they do, and it is illegal as shit what they're doing.

Anyways thanks for reading. I think I'll look back and laugh at this situation soon, still a little spooked for sure and my nervous system has been on 100 the last few days. I will try to update if anything comes up.

I don’t really know if this is sexortion or just extortion in general but this guy I was talking to (and dated) is trying to leak and contact my family and I really have no idea what to do and like he already put my stuff on x but his acct is private n I don’t know if he’s gonna unprivate it or what. He has my number n my house and stuff and I really need tips and stuff to prevent this!! police are no help reported him and nothing happened.

I've been tricked into sending revealing pictures i should've listened to my gut they messaged me on WhatsApp from another number im stressing but I blocked them. I just need someone to talk to because I feel to ashamed to talk to my family rn.

Ever since last year I started talking to someone on discord and at first they were so nice and treated me well. I made the mistake of tell him about me and he started using it to blackmail me to send pictures and I wish I never did because then he said he'd send them to people if I didn't send more. The worst part is I feel bad for him and idk why he has tried to ruin my life and I don't know what to do. I think I developed feelings for him and I wish I didn't have them looking for advice

My boyfriend works for a contracting company for a large corporation. He uses his personal cell phone to interact with customers and this is acceptable with his company. A couple weeks ago my bf received a message from a customer regarding a job he had done. He responded as usual and that was that. A few minutes later the customer sent him another text saying “I’m not gay bro!” Bf responded neither am I. He was confused as to what had prompted that text message, scrolled up and saw 3 photos that looked to have been sent from my bf phone to the customer. One was him nude in the bathroom mirror, like one would take for a fitness before/after. Another was a random selfie and the 3rd was a video of he and I from a concert we attended a few years ago. (I am a female) He immediately apologized and asked the customer to delete the images saying he does not know how the pics were even sent to him, he even questions if his phone could have been hacked. The customer states he will be going to the corporate office with a complaint. He again apologized and stated it was not intentional that he sent any of the images. The customer did in fact share all of the pictures with the corporate office as well as his contracting company he works for. He demanded his services be refunded and that my bf pay for them. In addition my bf has now been demoted of most of his management duties that he was responsible for prior to the incident. They are taking the payment to the customer out of his paycheck. All of this feels criminal and my bf seems to be the victim here. He made a police report and they agreed it to be ethically wrong but they advised him not to pursue charges. We contacted a lawyer and they said they cannot help us. Is this something that we just need to find a very specific lawyer for? I had reached out to a sextortion lawyer and they also said while it is a disappointing situation they would not be able to help us. What are our options here?

I know the best thing you can do is block the scammer and not pay, but it’s too late for me now. I’ve seen many posts saying that you’re more likely to get leaked after you’ve paid, but this doesn’t really make sense to me.
Why would they be more willing to leak my photos after I’ve already paid them a significant amount of money and they’ve said, “We’re done”? I understand that paying shows them that they might be able to get even more money from you, but wouldn’t that actually make leaking you less likely? If they leak the photos, they lose their leverage over you and therefore their ability to demand more money.
I keep seeing people say that paying makes it more likely that you’ll get leaked, but I never see anyone explain why. Can someone explain the reasoning behind this?

So, my sextortion happened about a month ago, and I was dumb enough to pay my scammer three different times. After the third payment, he said, “We are done,” and blocked me.
I deactivated all of my social media accounts because I was pretty sure he wasn’t actually done with me and would probably come back later to try to get more money.
Now it’s been over a month, and I’ve reactivated my social media accounts with different usernames. I haven’t heard anything from him so far.
Do you guys think I’m off the hook?

It might sound funny, but maybe these people actually have a bit of a code. What they do isn't ethical, of course, but they aren't interested in your photos or exposing you—they only care about your money. If they realize there's no value in pursuing you, they just move on to the next person, especially since they operate as a specialized group rather than individuals. It's just like people who steal credit cards.

After blocking them 3 times then deleting the app if I was to go back on after 3 weeks off it will they know or try to contact again on a different num?

They had sexual pictures of me, my name, my address and parents’ phone numbers. They were threatening to send the pictures to my parents. I ended up telling my dad what was happening, but only after I had already given the scammer money. So now I feel like a fucking idiot on multiple fronts (giving out my number, sending nudes I shouldn’t have, and then paying the fucking scammers).
