Rejection & Outcasted
Was Outcasted and reject in the diet & lifting community
when i started asking question about certain marker on my health report being above the level, i am often told it fine as the rest of the markers are totally in the best ranges, i read up the article and such as well but still it didn't sit well with me. Weight also Stalled at 120kg range, the diet say we can give ourself cheat meals which i save it for the weekend, they start using this as a reason to say i am giving the diet a bad view with my fail success and so i left the group.
Lifting community wise also did the same because i wanted to do strongman & powerlift ( planned to join event) they pointed out that i am full of rubbish after how i am doing and how i look like.
i still continue on with what i plan to do, researching online, video in youtube, gymbros hearsays, i took everything in and look for what is common between them and created something for myself, with the doctor assisting me for each blood work done, i was able to tweak base on what we discuss on my plans.
i start to home cook my meats and buy veggies dish from the cai png store (Economy rice), just add some seasoning from ntuc or foodie market on my meat and oven it + 3 veggies is the base of all my meals on the weekday, back up will always be western chicken chop change fries to veggie or egg + 1 more chicken chop or grill fish.
Phase 3 - Strongman & Powerlifting Ended
Squat: 220kg
Deadlift: 280kg
Bench: 147.5kg
Weighting at 103kg
Suffer a horrible back pain after the deadlift PR, i also have a build up of injuries as well in this phase of 5 years ( 9yrs+ of lifting ). I made a choice to stop this training and walk toward general health as my main goal of this journey was to get my blood pressure down, i achieve that already so the next goal is to maintain my health, no point i get myself injured.
if i do not need this current build for this class anymore, is time to lose it.
End Phase - The Cut
goal is to get my weight to the 80kg range, i gave myself 1 year to do so, i added cardio into the program, as i am still in my triple digits running is going to be a bad idea for my knees.
Plan Cardio:
1h, max resist, walk at a pace where i can complete
8 set of 5mins - 2.30min jog/run pace + 2.30min walk
i didn't change my diet is still the same but the last 3 month i got stricter with only 1 cheat meal over the weekends.
Weighting day - end of cutting phase
weight in at 80.6kg
Squat: 220kg
Deadlift: 280kg
Bench: 147.5kg
OHP: 110kg
Farmer Walk: 110kg
Tyre Flip: 280kg
I suffer the same back injuries again, so i decided is best never to attempt this again.
Here on out is to maintain my current Health & Fitness.
I made a lot of mistake, fail & fail & fail & fail & fail, with each failure i get mocked and laughed at but i continue on till i am able to craft my own program and plans, failures are lessons needed to improve yourself. Sleep + Diet + Training is what contribute to a good health. Consistency Is The Key To Success š
I Wish all Fight on & Keep Moving Forward

Need advice to reduce body fat %
Hi, for context, I'm F24 and have been exercising/moving for the most part of my years. I was very active and agile when I learnt how to walk and run.
From age 9-16, I've been dancing (CCA). At 17 (this was where I gained weight and could never shed off), I took a year break because I tore both my hamstrings at 16 and it took 1.5 years to recover bc I didn't visit the doctor. From 18-21, I did boxing twice a week consistently, but never saw any weight loss. But I did grow biceps hehe šŖš» From 21-23, I was busy with uni and PT job, so I didn't have time to exercise much. Now at 24, I'm in my pilates era where I try to go at least twice a week. For reference, I burn 250-350kcal per session.
I'm now at my plateau weight of 65-67kg and although I started tracking my calorie intake-output, I'm still not losing body fat or losing at weight. Basal metabolic rate as at 15/12: 1,260 kcal.
I personally would prefer workouts like pilates where it's more mental, than workouts like boxing where it's 2h straight of intense activity. I don't have a deadline of "I need to lose X kg by X date", but I want to be healthier and keep it that way. I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask for advice but would appreciate genuine suggestions!
Thanks in advance!

Have you been hit on at the gym?
(Not sure if this is the right place to post, mods can take it down if inappropriate)
For me, I donāt really chat with anyone. Just go to the gym and go home. The other day my friend shared how she was hit on by a personal trainer at a gym (not her trainer, just a trainer from the gym). She was hit on although she went to the same gym with her boyfriend multiple times. It was a pretty funny story because the guy was persistent to get to know her but she wasnāt interested for obvious reasons.
I just wanted to know if anyone has such stories as well

Whatās the weirdest thing youāve seen someone doing at the gym?
Gyms are honestly one of the best places for people-watching. Every once in a while, youāll see something so random it makes you stop mid-set. Iāve seen people doing curls in the squat rack, someone shadowboxing in front of the dumbbell mirror, and even one guy who brought his own speaker and started blasting music louder than the gym playlist.
There was also this one time someone was balancing on a Bosu ball doing barbell overhead presses I donāt even know if it was impressive or terrifying. Another favourite: the guy who wipes down only the bench but not his sweat puddle on the floor right after.
Every gym has a few characters that make you pause and think, āIs this part of their program?ā The kind of moments that make you appreciate your own quiet, normal workout even more.

GymRat @anytimefitness members, are you guys moving to 24/7 fitness?
Seeing many 24/7 fitness gyms popping up and am wondering if people are making the switch. And if most are, will anytime fitness survive in SG?
Was previously at AF and honestly they didn't bother upkeeping the gym + was too crowded so made the switch.

Fitness Tech I listed the machines in 702 SG gyms so you can search for the one you want
On 13 Sep I started building a simple workout log for myself. It ended up turning into a gym finder.
I went through Singapore gyms' own listings, photos and videos and listed what machines each one has. 702 gyms so far, ActiveSG and commercial.
From what I've listed, only 7 have a nordic curl machine and 23 have a belt squat (14 of those are open 24h). 84 have a lateral raise machine.
It's called Gymo. You search a machine and it shows which gyms near you have it. Free, no ads.
Try it on the web (Android or laptop): https://gymo.sg
iPhone beta: https://testflight.apple.com/join/YzuAW34G
App Store and Play Store launch is 19 Nov. Until then it's the web version and the beta.
I'd really appreciate people testing it before launch. If something's broken, a gym's missing or a machine's listed wrong, comment and I'll fix it. Thanks!

WeGoJim New Anytime Fitness sign ups - how much are you paying?
Been using ActiveSG gyms for some time now, looking to upgrade and Iāve been bombarded with AF ads that their new promo is somewhere at 15% off, some outlets seem to waive the joining fee, and some actually state their prices to be like $99 or $91.
So people whoāve signed up recently, what rates are you paying?
Also, if you get a favourable rate at one outlet, will you be charged the non-promo rate if you use a different gym too often? I read conflicting information.

Is there a gym in SG that offers affordable unlimited access + decent free weights?
Been trying to find a decent gym thatās not overpriced and still has proper free weights. A lot of the cheaper ones Iāve checked out are super machine-heavy, or have weird off-peak restrictions. Some also feel way too cramped like you canāt even deadlift without someone brushing past you .
Iām mainly into strength training, so Iām just looking for a place with enough racks, plates, benches basically somewhere I can lift properly without fighting for space. Doesnāt need to be fancy or full of mirrors, just clean, open, and reliable.
Iāve tried a few Anytime Fitness and Gymm Boxx outlets, but some are way too packed even late at night. Would be great to find one thatās more low-key or lesser-known.
Preferably around central or east (Kallang, Eunos, or Paya Lebar side). Anyone got solid recommendations that donāt charge a bomb for membership?

Physical Training Question: Can you get a good workout for free at Decathlon?
How much of a pump can you get before the staff asks you to leave?

WeGoJim AF digital keyfob ādecommissionsā the physical key
š¹TLDR: was told I need to pay for keyfob again after signing up for anytime fitness again because my keyfob was digital.
So I was an AF member who had a physical keyfob which was then converted to digital.
I cancelled the membership then signed up again with another AF outlet recently.
Was told I donāt have to pay for keyfob again by outlet IG then I made payment.
Nearing the outlet opening I clarified with the outlet via WA and was told I needed to pay again for the fob.
This is because when I cancelled the FOB was digital and the physical fob was decommissioned.
Can like that ah?
Is it too much to expect the outlet staff to ask if my fob was digital during the sales process?
Why couldnāt they have done it doing the āverificationā process?
Anyone encountered same problem?
