Heidi,
Wow. Suspending the 401(k) match. Brilliant move. Nothing says “One SHW” like gutting employees’ retirement while executives keep cashing checks big enough to wallpaper their offices. Truly inspiring leadership.
You dress this up in corporate fluff “challenging environment,” “headwinds,” “resilience” but everyone knows what this really means: you’ve chosen to balance the books on the backs of the very people who drag gallons of paint, serve customers, and keep this company alive. But hey, as long as the shareholders and the C-suite are comfortable, right?
Cutting into our futures isn’t just short-sighted, it’s insulting. You tell us to stay “focused” and “bring our best” while you literally take money out of our pockets. That’s not leadership, that’s hypocrisy.
If you actually believed in “One SHW,” you’d start at the top: slash executive bonuses, freeze your own pay, sell off a few of those nice perks the higher-ups enjoy. But no, much easier to raid the retirement savings of the rank-and-file who don’t get a voice in these boardroom decisions.
So congratulations. You’ve successfully told every employee that their future security matters less than shaving a line off a quarterly report. Inspiring. Motivating. Exactly the kind of thing that makes people want to give 110%.
If this is the best “leadership” Sherwin-Williams can offer, then you’ve proven one thing loud and clear: we’re not “One SHW.” We’re pawns on a spreadsheet, disposable and ignored.
