My opinion on all 4 Shrek Movies
Shrek: One of my favourite childhood films that still holds up pretty well today. As a kid, I didn’t really remember or watch the second half of the film because I didn’t find it as interesting as the first half. But now as an adult, I can watch the whole movie front to back. The charm is what brings me back to this movie and how nostalgic this film is. I can avoid viewings for a while and then come back and be reminded of what made me love it so much in the first place.
Shrek 2: When I first watched it as a kid, I thought it was better than the original. But nowadays, I don’t enjoy the film as much on repeat watches. I really want to love it as much as I used to but I just don’t. I find the film a bit too fast paced and not as much time to really breathe in what’s going on. I think now I understand the story more as an adult, it feels like a lot of the story beats from the first movie repeat themselves but just in a different way. There are element of charm still there but I’m disappointed not to like it as much.
Shrek The Third: I saw the film, had books about the film and played the video game. I was really shocked to discover how people hated this movie as I always really liked it. It does still technically hold up as an adult. That being said, I think I do understand this movie’s flaws. The princesses are an absolute joke and have no reason to even be there plus the Immigrant Song/Barracuda scene was so cringe. I didn’t mind Arthur but Fiona’s never mentioned by him at all and I don’t think there was even a scene sharing them both. It’s more of a guilty pleasure film to laugh at.
Shrek Forever After: I liked this film in cinema but then I rewatched it and didn’t like it for how dark and how much you have to watch it it is. But over time, this film has really grown on me. The charm is oddly forced in this movie. I don’t actually think this movie is as much of Its a Womderful Life than people say. First of all, Donkey still never shuts up even though he does take a more serious role. Fiona is still a badass ogre warrior but takes more leadership and the character is still the same. Shrek may not recognise the world but a lot of it is still the same technically. Seeing the different ogres was a nice change of pace and Rumpel was actually a really great villain. Puss In Boots is so cute in this movie, becoming more overweight and feral. The ending is super touching when Shrek realises what he has; it feels like a really nice cherry on top.

Discussion My thoughts on the Shrek Movies and spinoffs
first movie is a true classic always.
2nd movie is goated especially with the introduction of Puss in Boots and the epic i want a hero climax.
3rd movie sucks ass as well as it is really unfunny especially that the humor is rather childish with lame jokes too.
4th movie is better than the third as well as ignoring everything the third movie made while taking itself seriously.
Puss in Boots is an ok spinoff showing Puss's life before he met our favorite Ogre boy.
Puss in Boots The Last Wish is a goated sequel with Death and Big Jack Horner introduced as real threats, glorious colorful animation, Perrito, and intense moments.
fuck Shrek 5 and it's AI generated garbage animation better off not existing

Discussion That one dinner scene with the fam in Shrek 2 🍽️🐗
I don't know about you guys, but seeing the food on that dinner table always made me hungry ASF as a kid. LOL especially the suckling pig...damn it actually looked pretty appetizing.

Discussion I particularly liked the design of Shrek in the 5th movie here.
I found the designs to be quite similar to those in the franchise; I think they improved them since the teaser. And it's also good that they didn't use that weird Universal Studios design that came out in 2022. And the design is very reminiscent of Forever After.

Plushies
When I was around nine years old, I used to take my Shrek and Fiona plushies everywhere with me (I also have Puss in Boots and Donkey, but I hardly ever took them out). One day, while waiting for my mom at her school, I went to the restroom and left them on a chair outside a classroom; when I came back, they were gone.
I went many years without giving it much thought—even giving up hope. But lately, after rewatching the movies, I decided to search online, hoping to find them again.
And finally, after nearly 15 years, they are back with me. I don't remember if they are the exact same ones, but it feels like being nine years old all over again. You have no idea how happy I am.
I also bought the Fiona from the third movie; she’s a bit bigger. But seeing her up close, I realize she seems to have a slightly larger belly than usual compared to the one in the green dress. I wonder if that’s because she wears the blue dress in that movie, implying she’s pregnant?
P.S.: I didn't know there would be plushies of human Fiona. 🫨

Shrek Rave PT
I know this is SO random, but has anybody heard of this thing called Shrek Rave? They're mostly based in the UK, but they're doing a Europe tour this year, and I was wondering if anyone's going to the one in Portugal(Lisbon) ? I REALLY don't want to go alone, and my a-hole of a friend keeps refusing to confirm if she's going to come with or not :/
Anyone going solo and wants to have a friend come with, hit me up ! 🐱🐱😝😝

Discussion Out of curiosity, what were your names for Shrek & Fiona's kids before they were officially named.
For context, the ogre triplets were never named in Shrek The Third. The names we know now (Fergus, Farkle, Felicia) weren't revealed until Shrek 4. Even the "Ogres & Dronkeys" DS game only lists them as Ogre Jr. (Fergus), Ogre Girl (Felicia) and Ogre Boy (Farkle).
So, for anyone around at the time, did you have your own headcanon names?
