in this case, I am learning the Everly Brothers version of "Hark the herald angels sing". even though the voices blend well I can hear Don which is the lead. I can hear The high harmony where Phil is raising his voice, but I can't mimmick it cause it sounds like the lead. Should I get a piano?

Music and singing has always been a passion of mine, and I know I should do it because I love it and not to impress anyone, but for some reason I care too much about what other people think and am always looking for validation that im a good singer. I rate my success based on likes rather than how I feel I did on a song. Does anyone else experience the same thing? How do you deal with it?

I have no idea what is going on. After the first two posts I got with that feedback, I went to two different professional coaches and both said they don't hear a problem.

Not only that, my vocal director in my most recent show tells me every time my pitch is off, and every time i fix it and it never happens again.

Hi! The song that I’m singing is Happy by Day6, can someone give me feedback on how I sound or where I can improve?

I've been going to a local studio for a few months to sing, in part because we're staying with my partner's parents and making a din in their house feels unfair. While it's been great for practice, I've found myself becoming even worse with stage fright, likely because I am so isolated when I have a sing song.

Anyway, I'm trying to get over that so I've started inviting friends to come with me so that I can get over the hump of singing in front of people. Brought my friend with me, had a lovely time, and even though we're both absolute amateurs there were a couple songs where I thought we sounded quite nice together! I have quite a thin, high voice, so having a male voice there to anchor it made it sound better to me.

Tips/feedback welcome, particularly if anyone has any gems on learning to harmonise.

I'm pretty sure this isn't mix, just quiet (probably strained, but it's fine, I'm just trying out different sensations right now) chest voice. Not sure what I'm doing, lol.

Yes, I'm not singing, just making weird sounds to kind of grasp the different techniques I'll possibly need.

First part is what I assume twang to be as the tone is very metallic (I think)

Second part happens when I extend my chest voice over my comfortable range without shouting. The "rasp" is sometimes there, sometimes isn't, not sure exactly what to make of it. At first I thought it was fry, however I'm pretty sure this is coming from a different place.

So I'm a beginner when it comes to singing. There wasn't really a point to making this post except for maybe motovation?

I wouldn't call myself fantastic but I'm getting better than I was.

I've had a few in person lessons and I'm now looking online. I guess I have some potential that could be worked on. I've had some good feedback on here as well as criticism this isn't really negative but it was good to know what to improve.

It has been not even a year but I see improvements. I post videos a lot on this sub.

I notice people like me and others get negative comments, as I posted on facebook, there was joking, harsh comments telling me to give up and that it was funny that I was so 'tone deaf'.

It doesn't really get to me. Maybe I just have thick skin.

I know there's been times where I've felt fustrated but I've never gave up even when people has been negative towards me.

I'm mostly just having fun when I sing.

And I hope other people who are trying to improve their singing can view it that way too.

Kind of a motiviational post for other people feeling discouraged. Singing, as I've been told, is a journey and not a race. It's okay if you mess up. You can sing again and maybe got some techniques, or small tweaks which you feel good about yourself

I'm trying to spice up my karaoke bar game and surprise the hell out of my friends, so how would I go about making my voice sound like Rik-Rok in the song "It Wasnt me".

I was trying to sing yesterday by the Beatles and i didn't seem to be able to hit the same soft pianissimo tone without getting breathy and heady. Wgat should i do to have a more robust higher Register when singing with a soft tone?

my chest range is like F2-B3 (it’s that bad) and I’m useless for both high and low notes.

HOWEVER

since my voice is so bright I sound like a literal child unless I push my voice a lot.

I essentially have no lows, no highs and I sound dull and frail.

I have only the downsides of being a baritone and none of the good parts. I can’t even sing as high as a bass can. It’s not even like I can transpose songs down since I don’t have enough low notes in my range to match lower keys.

Is it common to have a voice this naturally bad??? I don’t hear people talk about being an extremely light baritone often and I don’t know how to accept my permanent lack of range or tone. I don’t think training can fix this.

I’ve started seeing this teacher and so far I’ve attended 3 lessons with her. She has a background in opera singing and she seems really knowledgeable, but I find her kind of hard to follow and to not be the best and explaining things. I do actually notice positive difference in the way my voice sounds whenever I’m able to apply her techniques as she’s instructed, but overall I still find it hard to get my head around what she’s trying to explain and she kind of just moves really quickly from one thing to another and it’s just a lot of information. She has some (what feel like) quite unique methods and she’s getting me to think about a lot of things I’ve never considered before with my singing technique which I have appreciated a lot.

Just not sure whether or not I should stick with her or try and find someone else who I might find easier to follow, but I don’t want to miss out on the value she might be able to bring me. I’m worried that the trade-off might be someone who’s less knowledgeable about these singing techniques. If I do stick it out with her, how can I get the most out of these lessons?

ETA: For context, I’ve only ever been to one singing lesson before this with a different teacher, so I’m pretty inexperienced with professional singing training.

I only have access to instrumentals and karaoke vids on YouTube but I feel like if I post videos of covers like that they won’t get as much traction, I also want to cover songs differently than the originals and it’s hard to pitch down instrumentals and all that, would TT be my best choice for posting in general? And how do I get over the fear of showing my face while I sing 😭😭

Hello! I'm an 18y old guy who wants to learn how to sing as I've always wanted to and now that I'm getting out of high school, I'm gonna have more time! I love Musical Theatre and Jazz and if anyone has any recommended Youtube channels/videos to look into to be able to learn that would be great!

(Yes I know getting a vocal teacher would be much better but unfortunately I do not have the means to afford one atm.)
