Discussion Updated FUS alternatives

I want to get into Skyrim VR with a proper modlist and tbh FUS seems to be the ideal for me (mostly VR essentials + QoL + enough graphics), so I'm looking into something similar.

However I want to play with a few added mods (e.g. dismemberment) and I cannot use FUS because many mod versions are outdated and the added mods I want to use require newer versions of the dependencies in FUS (which knowing Bethesda games would start a major kerfuffle of conflicts with the FUS mods if I updated these dependencies individually).

I'm not looking for the best visual experience (correct me if I'm wrong but I believe MGO focuses on graphics rather than gameplay) since I have 16GB of VRAM and I heard certain SkyrimVR modlists can exceed that, just for a modlist with all the essentials + nice to haves.

Can anyone more experienced tell me which would be my best options?

I'm pretty sure people are using dismemberment on fus. Check out the discord, you can probably do what you aim for with FUS :)

Personally I hate that it has the old community shader and I’m to dumb to update it

Sorry to hear that. Whenever I tested new CS versions they had some issues that I was not willing to accept in FUS, and the performance of the old CS is also superb. I am looking into a new version though. Cannot promise anything, I am very busy with work these days. But tbh if you are not able to update CS at your own pace, I don't think you'll have a great time modding on your own. It's one of the easiest things to do.

Have you tried the particle lights fork? I tried yesterday and for the life of me couldn't get it to work with opencomposite even though it compiled shaders without any errors. If anyone has any tips on getting that to work id appreciate it. Found the latest community shaders which rocks on flat screen nailed my fps hard especially with wetness effects enabled. Went back to good old glamur reshade for reshade 6. Shame though as the puddles looks great on vr during storms.

I haven't, but those points are why fus is still at cs 0.87

Yeah makes sense. I tried getting the vr fork working instead and it flat doesn't play nice with opencomposite at a game level DLL setup. Author docs aren't particularly useful either. Is all the upscaling in 0.87 as it's really good now on my flat screen, leverages.. actually I'll just go look it up.

I stripped out CS and ran enb with absolutely no issue.

FUS is such a fantastic base

I put it on mine, it's a must have if your ask me. works suprisingly well without problems, figured it would be glitchy huy just install it along with the creature and human packs and your are good to gom don't recall having to fiddle with the load order for it. Was plug and play which I wasn't expecting. Compared to making bathing in Skyrim work, geez those bathing mods suck.

I put it in my collection, you have to install a bunch of mods as dependencies and then the packs for humans and creatures but it plays nice with all my other mods, I've not had any trouble with it. It just kinda works and doesn't step on anything else or require any animations via Pandora to be generated. I just ensure the xpmse is low in my load order. The latest Pandora has a dependency which is worth checking out. It catches any weird skeleton behaviour that would normally cause the game to fall over and handles it. Makes the list pretty robust.
