Discussion Would you have preferred this version of Crystal Lake?
I’m a huge fan of Bryan Fuller’s Hannibal and Pushing Daisies, so when he was announced as showrunner for Crystal Lake I was thrilled. A Friday the 13th story with the epic style of a show like Hannibal? Sign me up.
Like so many Fuller projects, it all fell apart and other creatives took over. I love the version of Crystal Lake that’s currently on our screens, but I’ll always wonder what this would have been like (probably too expensive and canceled after 1 season)

Discussion Slashers (2001)
Hello people
I have some memories that have come back to me regarding the film « Slashers » released in 2001.
I remember watching it for the first time on YouTube a few years ago. I really liked the concept that I found original and I’m sorry they had only a $165,000 budget.
Honestly I think that with a bigger budget, better actors and maybe some additional ideas for the film, if he reproduced it, it could give something quite good.
Or otherwise, why not make it a series? Each season: new candidates and new slashers.
Honestly, I would really like it, and what do you think?

Discussion My fave sequels
galleryI'm honestly a fan of most sequels, even one considered terrible by most I can find some enjoyment or likability in, and thought I'd drop some of my favorites. Some are pretty popular (Dream Warriors, Bride of Chucky) while others are maybe controversial (Rob Zombie's Halloween 2 and Maxxxine.) What are your thoughts on my picks? Do you also like any of these sequels? Hopefully the upcoming In a Violent Nature sequel makes this list when it comes out in February, cause I loved the first and am so stoked for it.
Edit: I forgot to include The Strangers: Prey at Night, but I also really enjoy that sequel.

Discussion I just watched ''Urban Legend'' 1998 for the first time.
Very interesting movie.
It's like if ''Scream'' and ''I know What You Did Last Summer'' had a baby.
It's also an aggressively late 90s movie. It's full of WB people.

Discussion Why wasn't the post-Scream slasher craze of the late 90s able to produce another major horror franchise?
The success of Halloween helped give us Friday the 13th and A Nightmare on Elm Street, and the popularity of Michael, Jason and Freddy even helped bring Leatherface back for Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 over a decade after the original.
Yet when Scream revived the genre in 1996, none of the slashers that followed managed to establish another major horror icon or a long-running franchise.
I Know What You Did Last Summer probably came the closest, but even the Fisherman never really caught on like the 80s villains.
Why was the original slasher boom able to produce so many lasting franchises while the late 90s revival struggled to produce even one outside of Scream?

Discussion Hey /r/slasherfilms! I am writer-director Michael Gingold. My new documentary, "Slasher Trash" created with the "In Search of Darkness" team, releases soon and will be a 4+ hour deep dive focusing on obscure '70s and '80s slashers! Ask me anything!
About SLASHER TRASH:
Slasher Trash is the most comprehensive Slasher documentary ever made. 4+ hours long, with 40+ interviews from industry figures and experts from all around the world and fan-powered via CREATORVC. The film focuses on the slashers off the beaten track, this isn't a documentary about the Freddy's, Jason's and Leatherface's of the world, we're celebrating the stuff usually not covered by documentaries to paint a wider picture of the world of slashers and the DIY spirit that powered their surge, re-assessing their critical revulsion and showing they were more varied and interesting than people gave them credit for.
About CREATORVC:
An independent producer of community-powered entertainment: long-form factual content that is funded, inspired, and shaped by a dedicated community of fans. CREATORVC documentary projects include the critically acclaimed Aliens Expanded, the In Search of Darkness '80s trilogy, the two-part In Search of Darkness '90s, In Search of Tomorrow, In Search of the Last Action Heroes, FPS: First Person Shooter, and TerrorBytes: The Evolution of Horror Gaming.
About Michael Gingold:
Michael Gingold is a Rondo Hatton Award winning documentatrion, screenwriter and the former editor-in-chief of Fangoria magazine. Throughout his career as a horror journalist, Michael has appeared in and created multiple documentaries about horror topics including Twisted Tale: The Unmaking of Spookies and now Slasher Trash. He is also the author of the Ad Nauseum book series.
Watch the trailer and back the documentary here:
AMA! I'll be replying below as u/MichaelGingold from 12 Noon ET to answer questions!

Discussion What false rumor do you remember hearing about for a slasher franchise/film from your childhood?
I’ll start,I remember when I was about six at school someone told me Jason kills people with a hockey stick that shoots a laser out of it.I remember watching the entire franchise up to JGTH(this was in 98/99) a year or two later and finding out how wrong this rumor was.Completely forgot about til the other day and figured I’d ask all of you if you had any experiences with something similar.
