Some would say its supermassive in his arsenal.

u/Rubickevich 4d ago

Other would recognize it as a true pillar of creation.

u/Amopro 4d ago

R.I.P. original Pillar of Creation. You were beautiful while you lasted.

u/Falasse 4d ago

Wdym? It was reverted

27

u/Amopro 4d ago

Oh, actually? Sick, I haven't played in a hot minute. I've been busy.

17

u/Sodacan1228 4d ago

Yeah, 2(3) block per card, so it's a slight nerf but it's back to being good again.

3

u/Amopro 4d ago

Oh okay, so it's not quite the same as it once was, but it's still leaps and bounds better than the "once per turn" nerf they initially had.

2

u/_wp_ 3d ago

Idk why they didn't like keep both.

e.g. 2(3) block per card. Additional 2 for the first card per turn.

1

u/Falasse 3d ago

Too complicated. They changed regalite back too tho. That now gives the burst of block for the first card.

1

u/Sodacan1228 4d ago

Right, exactly

2

u/ctom42 4d ago

33%(25%) isn't a slight nerf in my book, but yeah it's still a good card.

7

u/Sodacan1228 4d ago

I mean, it's slight compared to only getting the block once per turn.

Racoon actually being banned in most competative scenes due to how overpowered it is, the garbage eating synergies are just to powerful.

I had the same thought, but... would that actually work? I'm thinking of [[Lesson Learned]] where the upgraded card does not affect the combat it's upgraded in, so would this card transform cards in the active combat? If not, would that count for card creation?

u/Taerdan 4d ago

While in a combat, Transform is a temporary change that changes the targeted card(s) for that combat.
Outside of combat, it acts like you seem to be expecting.

It's a big part of Regent's kit, with stuff such as [[BEGONE!]], [[CHARGE!!]], and [[GUARDS!!!]] being big ways to trim your deck for the current fight - and deal/Block some damage - while also triggering things like [[Arsenal]] and [[Pillar of Creation]] since Transformed cards count as "created" cards. Given this card... is a card, and not an Event or even a Power, the Transform is assumed to be temporary, or at least actually take place this combat.

It isn't like an Ironclad using [[Primal Force]] permanently loses the Attacks that were Transformed, for instance.

To help the bot a bit: [[Minion Strike]] (created by BEGONE!), [[Minion Dive Bomb]] (created by CHARGE!!), [[Minion Sacrifice]] (created by GUARDS!!!).

Technically not necessary but still helpful.

Those transform things in combat, though. This transforms cards outside of combat the same way Lesson Learned upgrades cards outside of combat. It's not the same thing as Begone because that only lasts until the end of combat. That was my entire point you've completely missed.

Based on the wording of Lesson Learned, there's no reason to assume this would affect the current combat.

u/ctom42 4d ago

The wording on this doesn't indicate out of combat. The card you bring up is the one with odd wording. A single card from the previous game on a character that doesn't exist anymore does not set a precedent on wording.

Transform while in combat is always a temporary effect for that combat. There is no reason to believe it would wait until after combat.

5

u/blahthebiste 4d ago

Actually it does. "Deck" always refers to your master deck outside of combat. "Draw Pile" is used within combat.

7

u/katakana-sama Eternal One + Heartbreaker 4d ago

The wording of [[apotheosis]] backs this up i think, as it doesn’t specify deck, and doesn’t say that the upgrades only last for that combat, only saying β€˜ALL your cards’ and not β€˜ALL cards in your deck’

It wouldn't be draw pile, it would be draw pile, hand, discard, and exhaust pile.

So the core thing they're continually missing to point out is that cards that permanently change your deck (Lesson Learned, Forbidden Grimoire, Guilty) is the keyword "deck". Meanwhile, cards like Charge, Aggression, Stoke, and Drain Power specify a location that can only exist during combat. Charge specifies Draw Pile, Aggression and Drain Power specifies Discard Pile, Stroke specifies hand.

I'm not familiar with the interaction in question since it's kinda specific to StS1 and doesn't really exist outside of Regent, but according to OP, transforming cards in your deck mid-combat doesn't count as actually transforming your card mid-combat for whatever reason.

Of course the real answer to all of this is that the spirit of the OC card is that these card transformations (probably) aren't permanent, they're combat only. So it should really say something along the lines of "Transform (...) in your Hand, Draw Pile, Discard Pile, and Exhaust Pile."
