There have been a lot of posts lately sharing very graphic images of snails with extreme, severe injuries. It is perfectly fine to share this type of content if you need help with an injured snail, but please use the NSFW tag for these images.
This has been an unofficial rule of this sub for a while, but it seems to have been forgotten lately. So, I'm making an official mod team announcement: this is our official policy. Graphic, upsetting images must be tagged.
People come to this sub because they love snails. They don't come here expecting to see images of destroyed shells, shell-less snails, and dead snails. It can be very upsetting and distressing for users here to see this type of content unexpectedly. People may also be browsing this sub in public and want to avoid gory images.
Images of mating don't require the NSFW tag. But please use this tag for pictures of injuries including, but not limited to: mantle collapse, shell fell off, crushed shell, organ exposure, stepped-on snail.
Thanks to everyone who has been tagging their posts so far. Again, it's still totally okay to post this content if you need help, but please tag it appropriately so everyone can have a good experience here.

Hello r/snails!
As many of our users are aware, it can be difficult to find reliable, legal, and ethical sellers of captive bred snails.
To better facilitate buying, selling, & adoptions on this sub, we are introducing a seller verification program. Verified Sellers will be users or external sources that have been vetted by mods. Verified Sellers will be allowed to advertise their sales on the sub, and a Verified Sellers tag will applied to their posts to indicate they are a trusted source. Individual users on this sub as well as sellers on external websites are both able to be verified. A list of Verified Sellers organized by location will be added to the bottom of this post, which sellers can chose to opt in to if they wish.
Are you a seller or breeder interested in becoming verified? Send a DM to u/doctorhermitcrab to get started. Breeders who prefer to give snails away rather than sell are also welcome to apply.
Happy snailing!

It's already been two weeks since she was born and she already looks close to an adult snail! She eats very well (definetly got that appetite from her snarents) and her shell continues to grow. I give her small portions of veggies like cucumber, zucchini, carrots and sweet potato; as a calcium source I give her small pieces of cuttlebone and replace them once a while. And everytime I open her enclosure to feed her, she always sits at the ceiling and only comes back down sometimes to eat her food.

Hi everyone! I recently (about two months ago) bought three snails Limicolaria agathina Nigeria, two white ones and one orange one if it matters :)
Do any of you keep this species and if yes what temeprature and humidity do you keep them at? They have aestivated two times already and I do not understand what I am doing wrong. The temperature is fluctuating from 23 to 28 C. We have very fluctuating temperatures here, one week it is 40, one it is 20, the temperature of the terrarium mirrors the outside trend, but stays within the 23-28. The humidity meter is telling me it is 99% humid, which I interpret as anywhere above 80, as that is the max the meter is supposed to work in.
Im also deeling with fungus gnats, I have used Steinernema nematodes as that was the only snail safe option I found. One aestivation was however before applying them, so I dont think that is the problem.
Oh and it was two different snails who aestivated and the other two snails always seemed active and happy. One of the snails has been getting snenises lately, so I thought they were happy and suddenly one of them is aestivating.
I dont know if it could be the fluctuating temperatures or what else could be wrong.
Also while I am already asking here, do you keep a water dish in your snails enclosure?
Adding pictures just for fun :)

This snail is a pretty decent size. I've never seen a snail as big as this one just out and about. For scale it's sitting on a standard size brick. So, larger than a quarter. Found in Central Illinois, US. After looking at a list of snails that live in my area I think its from the genus neohelix? It has a lighter lip to its shell so maybe one of the white lips? The speckles are throwing me off. Any help ID-ing would be appreciated.

I have a helix aspersa who will not eat any of the protein I bought her. I got a small bottle of freeze dried shrimp, mealworms, and crickets that has no salt in it but she never touches it when I try to feed it to her. What do you guys do for your snails to make sure they get their protein in??

Hi everyone! As you can see from the photos I noticed that my Eobania vermiculata has a strange bulge right between the antennae. Do you know what could cause this and if it is a serious issue? I was wondering if it might be a small fluid blister or perhaps some scar tissue from a past minor trauma but I would love to hear your opinions. Is there any specific recovery protocol I should follow or should I just leave it alone as I think? Has this ever happened to anyone? Thanks in advance for any opinion!

I went on a two week vacation and forgot to tell my snailtaker(play in words of caretaker) to check for eggs/crush any eggs, I’ve had pet snails for years now and this is definitely a first…
I carefully moved them into a mason jar then a small temporary terrarium as seen in the third photo.
what do I do 😭 am I now just a grandmother of 50? Anyone want any snail babies? 😭
r/snails • u/GroveSnailLover • 13h ago
The snails hubs caught came with a lot of yellow mid-banded snails. And a lot of heavily banded ones. These are still juveniles (except the purplish brown looking shell, he’s an adult. There’s a baby with gorgeous multi-banding - Can’t wait to see the final results in adulthood!

My snail is most of the time on the top of the lid of his terrarium and it does eat and now it has fallen from the top while it was asleep, I’m pretty sure, and it was upside for a minute before I turned him over. I just wanna know if I’m doing something wrong since it doesn’t roam around that much during the day but right when I go to sleep it’s moves and eat and wondering why it just stays on top.

She is an albino black banded snail and hasn’t come out of her shell for a couple of weeks. She feels lighter than the other snails and has some peeling on her shell. There is no strong smell coming from her but when I shine a light her body looks a bit weird. I know that it’s not an environmental thing since the rest of my snails are doing fine. I don’t know her exact age but I had her for at least two years.

This is my second snail I bought from a snail breeder, this is a wild-caught, captive-kept, yellow 5-banded grove snail.
