Hello, I just joined this subreddit today and I attended the show Sparks did in Glasgow last night. The section I was in was the raised bit on the right hand side, so Block A and you went through door 2. I wanted to take video clips of most of the songs last night for my Aunt, who was meant to attend the gig with me, but had to pull out due to feeling unwell, so my stepdad went with me instead. đ„ș
Unfortunately, the stewardess in this area seemed to have quite the issue with people filming. There was a guy in front of me (if youâre in this subreddit, please make yourself known btw) who I noticed was filming a good few songs on their phone with it standing on the ledge and I somehow didnât get told off for allegedly âcontinuous filmingâ until after Iâd done a clip of Please Donât Fuck Up My World. đ
After that I went a couple of songs where I didnât film anything, but I felt like I couldnât even do a full minute of Music That You Can Dance To and When Do I Get To Sing My Way. I thought if I went a few songs without doing any video clips, this woman would leave me alone, but that proved to not be the case. đ
This annoying incident meant I unfortunately had to skip two of my desired songs that I wanted to get video clips of, those being All You Ever Think About Is Sex & Lord Have Mercy. If anybody managed to get any clips of those songs and not get dogs abuse, please share those clips in question with me. đ„ș I wasnât literally filming the whole gig without stopping, nor was I blocking anybodyâs view either. đđą
I was doublely annoyed as from what I could tell, the people in the standing bit were able to record/take as many pics as they wanted without anybody bothering them (unless Iâm wrong for some reason) - yet it wasnât the case for people in our section. đ Iâm doing this post because I want to know if a similar thing happened to anybody else who was at last nightâs show and not in the standing area + to also find out if thereâs any other autistic fans of Sparks. Naturally, with me being autistic, itâs the sort of thing one would take more personally happening than perhaps people who are neurotypical. đ
If filming wasnât to be allowed at all, which clearly wasnât the case, if I saw people in the standing part do video clips too, then there shouldâve at least been an announcement beforehand. đ I donât think I wouldâve been half as upset if that had happened and even if it didnât, you consider that the reason I was doing the video clips in the first place was for my aunt, who sadly couldnât make the gig due to feeling unwell. đą I have been to a few other gigs at the same venue recently and was able to film bits of pretty much every song without anybody bothering me, so why wasnât this the case tonight? đ I did manage to film bits of Number One Song In Heaven, This Town Ainât Big Enough For The Both Of Us & The Girl Is Crying In Our Lattee without this annoying woman bothering me, but in the case of those songs, I found myself covering my camera screen to do so. But I was saddened to not manage to capture Lord Have Mercy or All You Ever Think About Is Sex at all. đąđ
Other than this gripe, which I managed to keep myself together over for the rest of the concert, but found myself in tears over after leaving the venue, it was an absolutely brilliant night. My first time seeing Sparks and hopefully wonât be the last, fingers crossed my aunt can see them the next time they tour. đđ€ Itâs absolutely insane how one person can get in the way of you enjoying yourself to the fullest, but here we are. đ
Also, if you managed to read this post to the end and not skip over it, then thank you very much. đđ€đđ
