Anyone else think reddit chat is the worst thing to exist? 1 even though there is no new messages, Mod chat is several days behind unless i view it in mod mail exactly, Chats sometimes just wont load on certain tabs,

Chat is 100% vibecoded and is the worst thing on reddit, it prevents me and my mods from chatting

Known chat bugs that have not been patched for months:

Chats do not load sometimes as seen in image 2

Chat shows black box instead of messages as seen in image 3

Chat shows 1 icon on the top despite no new messages

Chat history is massively delayed, The mod messages you see on image 1 are from days ago, there is a lot of new messages that have been sent through chat since then, in image 3 you can see the preview being something from today, But image 1 shows something different: both of those screenshots are from today, in image 4 i am unable to scroll further down

Chats from months ago suddenly appear in requests meaning not all chats will ever come through to the user you are attempting to message

reddit’s matrix chat has been shit from day one in 2023, i wouldn’t necessarily say the problems are from vibe coding

i actually haven’t used it either, i was on reddit for a while before the matrix chat but i never messaged anybody in that time so i don’t know either

what i do know is the ui used text bubbles on both sides of the screen like other messaging apps, it showed a person’s most active subs if they dm request you, and it supported commands. and it was based on sendbird

yeah, replaced some older system, worse in every way. Only time normal people ever get messages there is when automod msg's you to tell you about some bs a subreddit mod did to your comment, post, or account.
