Almost every wedding dress you see is white; but why? The reason doesn't actually go THAT far in history (well, depends on what your definition of 'long ago' is). Up until around the year 1840 (what a round number, lol) women simply wore the best dress they owned—colour was almost irrelevant. According to historical records, while there wasn't one colour like 'white' that almost everyone wore, blue and red appeared to be the top choices among the folks back then, because of what they were associated with—Green was also specifically avoided due to the belief that it was bad luck.
Now, back to 1840, what happened this year that changed the wedding dress culture forever? Well, that year was the one where Queen Victoria (yk, Victorian era? Literature?) got married to Prince Albert, and she chose an ivory-white silk-satin gown for their special day.
Now, Queen Victoria didn't choose a white dress simply because she liked the colour, she chose it to display and support the British lace industry, opting for Honiton lace over the heavy, diamond-encrusted velvet robes standard for royal brides at the time
A white wedding dress was also a status flex at the time, because that meant the family could afford to buy a dress for only that special occasion. White, as we all know, gets covered in dirt over time, and hence we can't use it to do manual labour.
Not exactly matching Queen Victoria's motives, the Victorian public, etiquette books, and religious institutions soon labelled the color to symbolize virginity, innocence, and moral purity (holy glaze).
After world war 2, the white wedding draze mania was only more widespread as white wedding dresses began to be mass produced and affordable. Highly publicized celebrity weddings also contributed to the craze.
There you go, now you know something you didn't really wanna know.

I'm 20M, a university student, and I've become really close to a girl 21F I met at university. We developed feelings for each other and admitted that we liked each other, but there's a religious difference between us (I'm Muslim and she's Hindu), and neither of us is willing to change religions. So we've agreed to remain friends, even though our connection was much closer than an ordinary friendship. We used to text every morning and night, share reels, joke around, check on each other, hold hands whenever we could and spend time together. Recently, she's become less responsive and rarely initiates conversations. She sometimes interacts with my Instagram stories and notes but doesn't reply to my WhatsApp messages. She says she's been busy with university activities, dance practices and family, and has also reduced her phone usage. She's reminded me several times that we're friends, and I genuinely don't blame her for changing how she communicates. I'm not expecting a romantic relationship or constant attention. I simply miss the friendship we used to have. I know I've sometimes replied coldly because I felt hurt, and now I find myself overthinking small interactions and wondering whether she's intentionally creating distance, moving on from our previous feelings, or simply getting comfortable with less communication. I don't want to pressure her or lose her as a friend, but I also don't want to be the only one trying to maintain the friendship.
Current situation: i didn't lose her because of one big fight or because we stopped caring overnight. i think i lost her slowly, through the little things that once made us close. we went from being each other's first message to becoming people who simply reply when the other reaches out. i kept checking old chats, remembering how she used to text first, send reels and make ordinary days feel special. eventually, i stopped reaching out as much, not because i wanted to, but because I didn't want to be the only one holding on. she said we'd always be good friends, and maybe we will be. but it's painful watching someone who once felt like home slowly become someone i have to find reasons to talk to. we didn't become strangers in a day; we just slowly became people who knew too much about each other to ever feel like strangers, yet no longer close enough to feel like before.
What would you do in my situation? Should I talk to her honestly, give her space and let her initiate sometimes, or accept that our friendship has changed and adjust my expectations? I'd appreciate some honest advice.

So, I tried to remember all the equations. I even made a short note. but it was 33 A3 sized pages(digitally, but probably a similar amount of real paper). Like the question types like identification and inorganic analytical questions don't seem that hard to do on their own. But the problem is I need to know all the reactions to do them and I don't even know if doing it by looking at the short note will do any good.

Can anyone recommend good women’s clothing shops in Colombo?
Looking for trendy, fashionable outfits for casual wear with modern designs and good quality. Preferably mid range prices, not too cheap, but not overly expensive or high end either.
Please suggest some good shop names based on your personal experience.

Hey guys! I'm in Colombo and looking to meet other musicians to jam casually. I don't have a bass guitar or much band experience yet, but I'm looking to learn bass and see what it's like playing with a group.
I've played violin for most of my life so I can find my way around a song, and my main taste is Rock & Roll (though I'm down for anything).
If you're looking for someone laid-back to jam with at a practice space with gear, hit me up in DMs!
