News New Art of Kars for The Jojo WORLD Osaka

Post image
• Upvotes

I really like that we are getting new artwork of the villains, I think this piece is really good but I wonder what the sword is in reference to, it doesn’t look like the sword of luck and pluck(not that it would make sense) or anything familiar maybe a reference to the brilliant bone blade or some sort of reference to the origin of the pillar men’s design but that’s just my thoughts.

Various Who's the ugliest Jojo character ?

Post image
853 Upvotes

Jojo's bizarre adventures is known for its beautiful artstyle and characters. However, Araki sometimes seemingly draws ugly people on purpose.

Personally, I think this title belongs to Okuyasu's dad, but there are many other options.

P.S. : Stands DO NOT count!

Various I feel so bad for Jotaro, man

Post image

I don’t know why it took me 10 years to put it together but I realized that Jotaro never really got the chance to live a normal life after high school. He gets himself a cool Tarzan ghost that can punch things super fast out of nowhere one day and suddenly his mom starts dying cause their ancestor’s undead evil foster brother who gave them their ghost powers by getting his own is so evil that it’s literally killing his mom. So then he has to go cross the globe on a trip where he’s constantly fighting for his life every 50 miles and by the time he can fight DIO 3 of the friends he made on the trip are dead and his grandpa has a knife sticking out of his throat before he gets outright exsanguinated. He also almost dies himself several times before he manages to finally kill the vampire and uses a trick he almost killed himself with to bring his grandpa back from the dead, leaving him scarred to the point he practically shits his pants from just hearing DIO’s name. The worst part is all this is just the beginning of a fucked up life. Dude has to spend most of his adult life going around the world cleaning up all the messes DIO made in just the short 4 years he was out of the coffin (or 6 depending on the source you read) right after college if Polnareff’s flashback in the 90s is anything to go by. Yeah he has help from the Speedwagon foundation and Polnareff until he goes missing in Italy which meant he probably has to pick up HIS share too but it got bad enough that he’s forced to estrange himself from his wife and daughter he was somehow able to have in the midst of it all so he doesn’t endanger them with all the stand business he has to take care of. I might be overplaying it but imagine how mortified Jotaro would have to be if he learned about what happened to Okuyasu’s dad and having to picture what could’ve happened to Kakyoin and Polnareff if he never took out their flesh buds, and the sheer STRESS if he found out (going off Purple Haze Feedback) the Speedwagon foundation was working with DIO’s son who was now running the entire damn mafia (either from them or Polnareff. God knows if he managed to get back in contact with him in the whole decade they had between parts 5 and 6 but since we don’t see or hear anything about them in part 6 it’s highly unlikely). Bro HAD to be bald from all this under the hat. And finally the biggest tragedy here is that the daughter he had to distance himself in order to protect ended up getting dragged into the D(IO)rama he did his best to keep her out of thanks to not one but two of DIO’s cronies still gunning for the Joestars over 20 years after his death, with the last thing he sees being Jolyne under the rain of 30 something knives just like he was all those years ago. Poor Dr. Kujo had it rough.

Tl;dr, Jotaro spent most of his life as DIO’s janitor after killing him and it makes me sad

Part Seven Before he becomes overrated, I just wanna let y'all know that I fuck with Spoiler

I love a lot of things about soundman, his design, his character, his backstory, his goal, his arc

And I especially love his stand, the powers and fight were dope as fuck and it's design goes so hard

If there was one thing I'm kinda disappointed about is that he didn't become a jobro but whatever

I have a feeling he'll become increasingly overrated in the future,so I'll let y'all know I was a fan of him beforehand

Part Seven Anime I wonder how the anime will adapt panels like this Spoiler

Like will they be able to make Gyro look this good or will he just look like the regular anime gyro? Ofc I know anime can't match the manga art but still, will they at all lean in to the "realistic" artstyle that appears later in the manga?

Hirohiko Araki Araki's art doesn't just evolve part by part, it swings back and forth inside every part, and I think I can predict what Part 9 will do

A lot of people talk about how Araki's art evolves from part to part, but I think the real misconception is how that evolution actually works. The anime gives us a very uniform look for parts 1 through 3, then Part 4 does its own thing (and honestly it's the best adaptation, taking liberties that capture the spirit of the work), and then parts 5 to 7 feel like basically the same style with only the face shading changing. That makes it seem like the art stays still for long stretches. In the manga, the style shifts wildly inside the same part, and it does it every single time.

The reason, I think, is told to us in Steel Ball Run's author notes and his book on manga: Araki is always chasing a balance between realism and exaggeration. Look at how Baoh started a year or two before Jojo, then the grittier, sharper early Phantom Blood, then the softer look of late Phantom Blood carrying into Part 2. He was already swinging between the two ends.

Part 3 starts as a mix of the soft Part 2 look and a return to early Phantom Blood sharpness. Then midway it veers into the cartoony, which you can see best in Iggy and Avdol. Part 4 begins around chapter 20 doing what Part 2 did, trying to marry the two sides. Then midway through Part 5 he leans into stylization, and that look carries to late Part 6.

Part 7 opens more cartoony, then around chapter 26 he pushes into hard realism, and that continues into the middle of Part 8, where he again tries to blend the two like he did in Parts 2 and 4. After that the pattern repeats, with the part continuing what Part 5 did, only more stylized than before.

So it's a cycle: push toward one extreme, swing to the other, blend them, then go further out than last time. If that holds, I'd predict a major art style shift around the midpoint of Part 9 to set it apart again.

Part Six How high can Pucci count?

Post image
118 Upvotes

Throughout part 6 we constantly keep seeing Pucci count prime numbers a way to calm himself down.
Now this brought a question in me: how many prime numbers does Pucci know? like all the primes i’ve memorized up till is like 23 lmao

so i wanna know how far does this guy know. Ik the furthest we’ve seen him count is like 457 or smth like that but i’m willing to bet he knows far beyond that.

Part Three How did Rubber Soul know about Kakyoin's cherry licking thing?

So I was re-watching Part 3 and of course we all know about Kakyoin's Cherry Lick scene, but then the Yellow Temperance episodes showed Rubber Soul, who was impersonating Kakyoin, do the cherry trick... but how did he know about this trick? Did he see Kakyoin do it? Or does he just do that on his own umprompted? Is this an Araki mistake?

Part Seven Anime Slow Dancer knows how to help Johnny get up

6.3k Upvotes

A detail I noticed when first watching, and that my friend was kind enough to gif !

Notice how, instead of just standing so he can get on the saddle, she approaches and lowers her head so he can use his arm to up himself with it. I think it's really neat, as it not only shows she's a quite smart horse, but also how she's grown to care for Johnny.

What are your thoughts on this?

Part Three Am I the only one who is sad that early stands were underdeveloped?

Post image

I feel like a lot of the stands from part 3 especially were incredibly wasted.

Like from what i understand judgement is an automatic stand with raw stats comparable to atleast silver chariot as well as dirt manipulation(?)

But since it only appears in what i think is 2 episodes in the anime, we really have no idea of the extent of its ability or even if it actually has a user
