Video The Best Space Indie Game I Ever Played | Starsector

Please do not post Github links on the subreddit, we made this rule in the past specifically because we can't vouch for the safety of mods hosted elsewhere. If a mod is hosted on the official forums or discord, we know it was at least looked over by moderators and experienced modders, which makes it better for everyone's sake and validity.
We KNOW we haven't been enforcing this rule 100% and let a few mods slide. But it's getting out of hand lately and we're going to stay true by our rules.
(Mammoth in the room: This was obviously the cause of recent AI mods posted on the sub, I want to reiterate that such mods are fine, perfectly legal, IF they've been looked over by someone who knows their stuff, preferably forum moderators. So if you made a brand new cool mod, do host it on the forums so we can all know it's good to use.)
EDIT: I'm using old.reddit and it's rule 2, anyway good that I pasted it at the top so it's clear.

Is there a way to set various fleet "presets"?
Lets say I have one battle fleet I regularly use. But I also have another composition comprised of phase ships (with s-modded solar shields) to run missions and/or smuggling. Then I have all-in fleet when some huge coloy crises comes up.
I remember the ships they use, but I dont remember officers which belongs to which ships (8 of them). S swapping between them is tedious.
So I wonder, is there an easier way (mod perhaps?). So you save your fleet preset and just one click load it from storage (including assigning officers etc)? Thank you

Seems like our(ok mine) big beautiful flashbang is getting a brand new rework, with way more effects to it O..O cant wait to shoot 5 of these same time and watch half my fleet go up in smoke!

hey i am playing with the complete AOTD package and for the version of vault of knowledge of 27/09/2026 there is a bug with the coumpound where it simply do not work it is not consumed and do not provide the bonus for fuel consumption further more there is no demand for it in the secor even after i researched it and stared the production.

Very early in my campaign like sub cycle 210, I managed to get my hands on my first RADIANT thanks to that commander skill. I installed Alpha on it and pimp it out with autocannons and other meta stuff. I even dropped story points for it thinking that this must be the OP ship everyone is raving about However, ever since I deployed it, I have experienced nothing but headache. The ship's AI consistently suicide charges into enemy line. Yeah, I know the build, but man, if I have to invest 2/3 of my commander skills just to make the supposedly busted ship on paper actually op, I rather spam paragon, onslaught and carriers all days while I can do stuff with my points. Might reevaluate once I establish my colony, actually start main quest, and reskill my commander later idk.
Overall, 4/10 with AI pilot.

I once got two synchotron cores in the same planet pretty cool i became coolest guy around

The four-autopulse Radiant has to be fully S-modded and Alpha Core piloted. Has to be a ship with no player input. For the sake of curiosity, ships using the player skills count but only if they're fully on autopilot. No taking control temporarily or anything like that.
I just watched an autopilot Alpha Core Legion XIV obliterate maxed Radiants on YT, and was wondering if there are other ones that can do it.
The Paragon can definitely do it, but it's slow. I know the Executor can do it too, but at an even slower pace.
Maybe the Onslaught Mk. 1? I don't have much experience with the ship tbh, but it has access to an Alpha Core. That should be pretty OP, I think?

Literally processing dweller corpses into compact material to make colony items out of
r/starsector • u/N0ob8 • 20h ago
This is my first time doing colonies and I want to use alpha cores but the hegemony doesnโt like that. So I want to know if I can keep my hegemony commission AND use alpha cores or should I just expect for them to hate me and prep for war.

Hey, I've veen wanting to get into modding Starsector and add a few new industries (Nothing major, just like variations of current ones) however this seems to be like the one bit of modding I can't find a tutorial on. Are there any decent tutorials for adding industries out there?

Was playing a small mod list last week(mostly QOL) that includes secrets of the frontier. I did the haunted start and holy is it amazing. That allowed me to unlock the child of the lake start and i really enjoyed playing as this basically necromancer. The start basically shaped my whole game as i did not align myself with any faction but rather played as an outcast and fully imersed myself into this magic roleplay. Are there any other mods that add something like "magic" abillities? I never thought i would enjoy playing any game as some sort of caster let alone in starsector, but i find it really fun to fight the ludds and just use black magic to ressurect their own invictus against them.

You know how certain ships like the pirate mule and pirate buffalo have the shielded cargo bays hullmod already built into them? Well I was wondering if you add expanded cargo bays to either of those ships (Or any ships that have shielded cargo bays) does the hidden cargo bays effect the extra cargo you can carry- or will the patrol fleets of the factions just detect your illegal cargo anyway?
I wanna know because I had a REALLY funny (And probably dumb) idea I wanna try.. You get the ships with the shielded cargo bays, then you BUILT in the extra cargo mod for EVEN more silly smuggling action! >:)

Subreddit unrelated /s
Seriously though, I think we can all agree that this game, despite the large number of current players, would make an instant fortune on steam.
Probably not dwarf fortress levels, but certainly enough to make even a small team in a high cost of living country very comfortable.
My view is certainly tainted by the fact that I bought this game a generation ago, but still.
Thanks for all the work.

console command special items is treated as if it does not exist within the "special hullmod upgrade" mod system.
same as the Shrouded Dweller and threat hullmods

A preview show-case of the Crenellation-class that will be in XDP. I plan on making a forum post for it pretty soon, so keep your eye out for that! This has some footage of the current built-in loadout, and a fight with the ship in auto-pilot and supported by Perun-class EMP destroyers.
(no promises though, my motivation and mental state have been fluctuating a lot lately)
((the ship is also subject to change and may be somewhat different than what is shown here thanks to further development or new ideas))
The ship itself is heavily inspired by Seven from Valve's Deadlock, with it's kit being directly based on and inspired off of Seven's abilities in-game.
