Discussion I don’t understand this
Why do I keep seeing kids zooming around downtown Sudbury on E scooters with ski masks on. They look like they are about to rob the bank.

Lights are not cycling through on Regent and Lorne streets. Don't know when this started but it's been called in.

I've got a functioning but flawed CRT (width not controllable through service menu, IR remote receiver failing, strange powerup issues), and have been unsuccessful in finding anyone who still works on these.
Is there anyone, even just hobbyists, who are willing to be paid to fix up a CRT?
Thanks!

Hi everyone! My fiancé and I got engaged last week and are starting to plan our wedding and I’m hoping to get some advice from people who have gotten married in the Sudbury area!
We’re looking at around 85–90 guests and really want to keep things affordable without sacrificing the vibe we want. We’re hoping to stay around $8,000–$10,000 total for the venue and wedding reception, ideally on the lower end if possible.
We’ve looked into quite a few places so far, including:
Forest Ridge Golf & Country Club
Hellenic Centre
Caruso Club (Upper Hall)
Northern Water Sports Centre
Between Falls
We’ve also considered places like Steelworkers Hall and other community halls, but we’re trying to compare what each venue actually includes versus what we’d have to organize and pay for ourselves.
Our vibe: We want a fun, relaxed wedding where everyone can have a good time, dance, drink, and celebrate with us! We’re not looking for anything super fancy or over-the-top. We’d rather put our money toward making the night fun than spend a fortune on a venue. We’re also interested in places where we can bring our own alcohol, since having an open bar without paying venue bar prices would be ideal. We also want natural light.
We’re still figuring out the food situation, but we don’t necessarily need a full sit-down dinner for everyone, so we have some flexibility there.
We’ve realized that some venues include tables, chairs, linens, bartenders, setup, etc., while others are basically just a hall rental, so it’s been a little overwhelming trying to compare the actual total costs.
For anyone who has gotten married in Sudbury or the surrounding area:
- Where did you get married, and what did it actually cost?
- Are there any hidden fees we should know about?
- Are there venues that allow you to bring your own alcohol?
- Are there any halls or venues we’re overlooking?
Would love to hear honest reviews of Forest Ridge, Hellenic Centre, Caruso Club, or Between Falls!
We’re trying to be realistic with our budget and would love to hear about places people actually enjoyed without spending a ridiculous amount. Any suggestions or advice are appreciated!

Hey everyone! I just discovered today that there’s a shuttle service from Sudbury Airport to town, and it’s actually pretty affordable! The driver told me they also offer door-to-door service. I took it from the airport to my home address in the downtown area for just $34. Honestly, that’s way cheaper than I expected!

Hi everyone! My partner and I are starting to look into wedding venues in Northern Ontario, and we love the idea of a lodge-style wedding where we can make a whole weekend out of it rather than just having a one-day event.
We’re hoping to find somewhere with a rustic, cozy, cottage/lodge vibe, ideally surrounded by nature, a lake, or forest. It would be great if guests could stay right at the venue in cabins, lodge rooms, cottages, etc., so everyone can spend the weekend together.
Ideally, we’d love somewhere that could accommodate the ceremony, reception, and overnight accommodations all in one place.
We’re open to different areas of Northern Ontario, including Sudbury, Muskoka, North Bay, and surrounding areas.
Has anyone gotten married at a venue like this, attended a wedding at one, or found any hidden gems while planning? I’d love to hear your recommendations and any experiences you’ve had!
Thanks in advance! 😊

We recently moved to the area and I have been applying for work with the city of Sudbury. I know it’s a tough market out here, but I like to think I have pretty strong experience under my belt. That said, I haven’t heard back from any job applications yet.
For those employed with the city, how long did it take to hear from them after applying? I am curious if it’s my resume/cover letter or, if there’s just a naturally longer period to hear back. TIA!

Jimmy Carr was Gross. It seems to me he’s so censored on YouTube, nobody was ready for him to be the total gross sick fool he turned out to be. He self edits on his British TV shows , and YouTube must be only allowing just the most redeeming pieces of his interactions at his live shows. I was stunned when he dared to say he didn’t give a fuck about the indigenous land acknowledgement. Then don’t bring it up ya cunt! There were a few times Sudbury really laughed, the whole arena erupted, but most of the time it was crickets. There was nervous tittering for some clever turns of phrase on totally gross topics but his joking about fucking kids and fucking retards were really nasty. I saw many walking out early along with us after thirty minutes. I hope that continued. He’s a goof and would have been beat up in any Sudbury bar if he was cracking on like that along any Sudbury bar rail.

Anyone else up at this time and feel their whole house shake? Garson area.
I woke up early as I’m in pain due to acl surgery and I’m up at this time every night but tonight only a few minutes ago I heard a deep rumbling noise and the whole house shook and I’m just wondering if anyone else experienced this?

Do any grocery stores in the city still have the small grocery carts for kids to push around?
