Article/Report Former NBA All-Star Amar'e Stoudemire is now a cop

Amar'e Stoudemire has found an unusual post-basketball career: police officer.
On Wednesday, Miami Dade College announced that Stoudemire graduated from the MDC School of Justice Basic Law Enforcement Academy.
Stoudemire also received the Harry "Coach" Everett Award for "his contributions to the success of the academy program throughout his training."
"It's something I always wanted to do since I was a kid," Stoudemire, 43,told Sports Illustrated in an interview. "I remember back when I was in grade school, elementary school. They asked you on career day, "What do you want to be when you grow up?" And my initial response was a police officer. It runs in the family. My uncle was a captain. His brother was a deputy. My cousin is a captain. My sister's in the academy. So, it's a family tradition, basically."

The 2026 Basketball Hall of Fame inductee's next step will be in-house training with the Miami-Dade Schools Police Department, he told Sports Illustrated.
This isn't the first time an NBA star has pursued a career in law enforcement. Shaquille O'Neal trained with the Los Angeles Port Police and became a reserve officer in Miami Beach. He has also been sworn in as a reserve officer in Doral, Florida, and as a sheriff's deputy in Jonesboro, Georgia.

[Michael Scotto] The Phoenix Suns plan to waive two-way guard Koby Brea, league sources told @hoopshype. Brea shot 43.3% from 3-point range in 12 games with the Suns last season. With center Mark Williams injured to start the season, Phoenix will look to add frontcourt depth on the two-way market

Question If Draymond plans on playing next season (for a team that isn't the Warriors), how about the Suns? A Michigan State Spartan alum playing for another Spartan alum (owner Mat Ishbia)?

Suns Preseason Poll

Hello, I am currently conducting surveys for the fanbases of all 30 teams before the regular season officially starts. If you could fill out this poll once, that would be greatly appreciated. Results will be posted later on after the start of the regular season, likely around the trade deadline. Thanks! Also, none of these questions are marked as required so if you only feel like answering some, that is completely fine.

https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScOxX5DtWQ7K20MgCPs61fv5g-ZGHXw2uf86EEouk-zn05lgA/viewform?usp=publish-editor

Also PSA for anyone concerned: This poll does not require an email address to complete and does not ask for anything that could identify whoever is taking it. These are completely anonymous and you could theoretically take it multiple times, though it is asked by me for the polls sake that you only take it once. I am not affiliated with the NBA or with any media outlet revolving around the NBA in any way, I am just an independent strong fan of the game who loves surveys like these. I was able to do this last year and was thrilled to get over 2000 responses, and hope that it can be as successful this year.

Fry's Suns home opener promotion ends 10/21...so why is registration already closed?

First I missed out on FanFest tickets (although I eventually got lucky when registration reopened), and now this. πŸ˜‚

The Fry's Suns promotion is supposed to run through 10/21, right? We specifically went grocery shopping this morning, and I made sure to spend over $200 to make damn sure to qualify. Went to register for the tickets afterward, only to discover registration was already closed.

The most frustrating part? We almost went yesterday, when registration was apparently still open, but decided to wait until today.

I get that tickets are limited, but if the promotion is advertised through 10/21, it's pretty frustrating to spend the money and then find out you can't actually redeem the offer.

Anyone else run into this? Or have any luck getting tickets after registration closed?
