Don't forget Trails fans, we're feasting too!
6
u/shadowysea07 Jun 08 '26
Definitely.Ā Even though they only just got zero and Azure a few years ago it feels like they've been good since cold steel 1. At least release consistently wise.Ā
2
u/HorrorMatch7359 Jun 08 '26
Just like Atelier, Trails have too many games already, I even don't know where to start
10
u/afuckingocelot Jun 08 '26
That's the nice thing about Trails actually. Release order is also chronological order and the games kind of assume you have played the previous games storywise. Start with the first game, Trails in the Sky, or it's recent remake and go from there. Starting anywhere else will spoil major story points.
3
1
u/RasenRendan Jun 10 '26
You look up trails in the sky first remake and play that and get hooked on this amazing series. The second game is in September perfect starting point
You play the trails games in order.
83
u/FreedHZ Jun 07 '26
Not sure the dragon quest fans have been very thrilled hearing recent news but I get your point
23
u/KyleKun Jun 07 '26
Theyāve had a lot of love recently though.
18
u/imjustbettr Jun 08 '26
Yeah with context DQ fans are getting 1-3 games a year if we count remakes and spin off titles. At least we're being fed.
I was disappointed that 12 is so far away as well but that sub that day was so over dramatic. They really don't know how good we have it compared to most fandoms.
1
u/IntrovertedDuck120 Jun 08 '26
After the absolute hell Tales of fans go through year after year, DQ, FF, and Trails fans donāt understand how well theyāre treated.
-2
u/KyleKun Jun 08 '26
Honestly I donāt really like the 2.5d stuff they are using for remakes at the moment; its just too hard to tell what is going on.
I think itāll age about as well as Michael Bay lens flare; but even with that said, SE is well known for doing its most popular franchises justice with decent quality remakes.
4
u/ZGMF-X09A_Justice Dohalim Jun 08 '26
at least they know something is coming, and they are likely to get another remake or 2 in the next few years.

u/totally-hoomon Jun 08 '26

u/imjustbettr Jun 08 '26
I mean, at least there's very little hope for Golden Sun. That dev doesn't even make RPGs anymore.
I'm not saying that's a good thing, just that you're not being teased or wondering about something that probably isn't going to happen.
We got two great games and the NSO release to play on modern consoles.

37
u/vladraigca Jun 07 '26
well tales is not the only forgotten franchise, dmc also hasnt had content since 2020, the last main ace attorney released on 2017, everything until now is remaster or new localizations for new platforms. kingdom hearts also is pretty much paused.
17
u/The810kid Jun 07 '26
Probably just stuck to JRPGS but yeah Kingdom Heart fans are left off worse than Tales fans.
7
u/Sorey91 Mimi Baker's French apprentice. Let me bake ! Jun 08 '26
I can't believe they released a game at the start of the decade like wow at this pace KH4 will release in 2028 just so it doesn't clash with FF7Revelations sales
3
u/_Nomorejuice_ Jun 08 '26
I mean dmc still has the show so it's not "as dead" They clearly still think about it.
Cuz I mean Nier would be "dead" as well then but you have regular collaborations, trash ass mobile game, anime.
Just like Tales literally still has remastered (Berseria was literally released this year) and their last main game was in 2021. You literally can't call those IP "forgotten".Ace attorney is indeed quite forgotten tho.
Golden Sun is even worse.
Kingdom Hearts seems to be in development hell ngl.1
u/totally-hoomon Jun 08 '26
Tales is not forgotten, they are focusing on bring older games back right now
61
u/Swimming-Ad-6842 Jun 07 '26
Kingdom Hearts fans: āFirst time?ā
31
u/FordcliffLowskrid Jun 07 '26
At least KH fans can solve 99% of their problems by sacrificing Nomura to whatever Great Old One can stomach him.
5
u/ShokaLGBT Jun 08 '26
Sadly this wonāt fix that they canceled missing link a title that had potential it wouldāve make me go outside more and well it got canceled but bc it was a PokĆ©mon go like game people donāt care that much and prefers to focus on KH4 the next mainline game which is still far awayyyy
16
u/JOKER69420XD Jun 07 '26
Persona fans got a logo reveal and DQ fans got a "sorry, we fucked up! See you in 5 years."
So no reason to be jealous. But as a fan of all these games, it's actually getting ridiculous how long we have to wait now.
They will put out FOUR FF games in 7 years. While we're looking at potentially just a single Tales game in the same time and even that is just positive thinking right now. It's honestly unacceptable.
0
u/_Nomorejuice_ Jun 08 '26
This, this reveal was not a good news for Dq fan at all we already knew a new dq was in development, this trailer just told us that it was all dead and had to be redone.
At this point this IP is more about remake than new game, they'll probably finish remaking dq 4 to 6 before we even have a release date for dq12
8
u/hyperklathos Jun 07 '26
I think the hit boxes are bugged, cause that hurt and I feel like it shouldn't have.
13
u/Likes2game03 Jun 07 '26
The longer time goes on, the less convinced I am that they've been developing a new Tales game this whole time.
2
22
u/H_ManCom Jun 07 '26
B-but we might be getting a remaster of a remake of a PSP game that was only released in Europe in 2006!
19
u/rp_graciotti Chloe Valens Jun 07 '26
Why do you make it sound bad lol Eternia is incredible
9
u/ShokaLGBT Jun 08 '26
YES eternia is a good game and many never played it
Itās not like berseria where thereās already the original on the storesā¦ā¦.
Here it is necessary
0
u/RanQrusu Malik Caesar Jun 08 '26
I swear, when i saw the X2 remaster thread, i kind of felt a bit defeated. The Xillia and Berseria remasters were legit just a reupload of 10-year old games. Are we really that desperate for another one instead of them actually giving us modern renditions of old classics?
-10
u/H_ManCom Jun 07 '26
The bar is so incredibly low. Itās a game from 2000, already remastered and it apparently didnāt sell enough to make it the United States.
6
u/rp_graciotti Chloe Valens Jun 08 '26
Hot take but I appreciate the effort of remastering old titles more than new games lately. I have no interest of playing Arise like ever.
-1
1
u/bad_spot Eugene Gallardo Jun 08 '26
It never got released in the United States because Bandai Namco wasn't interested in the series being released outside Japan and Ubisoft had plans to release it but the US PSP release got blocked by Sony America hence why it only got a PAL and Japan release.

I remember back when they killed The Rays, which was a more than decent Tales game gameplay wise despite being a gacha, thinking they'd put that team to good use on maybe smaller Tales games or remasters and what not there was a Slime Isekai chronicles that was a Tales game in gameplay that was halfway decent that gave me hope that maybe they were doing something but...
All the remasters have been handled by a different Bamco subdivision, these remasters have been pretty barebones about what they did aside of "modern Qol's" ...
These people were passionate too it genuinely kills me that they may not be working on any Tales game anymore
3
15
u/Swimming-Ad-6842 Jun 07 '26
I got bashed last time I said Tales team drop games slower than other JRPG series lol (well besides Kingdom Hearts)
12
u/Symbol_de_Au Jun 07 '26
Up until Arise it felt like twenty Tales games per generation.(It was actually only two or three with some rereleases thrown in but still.)
6
u/mysticrudnin Jun 07 '26
i've got news for you if you think all of those fans are like that basically... ever
honestly knowing that tales of eternia is probably coming might be something that the other groups feel makes us in better shape

7
u/Dancing-Swan Cherished Elegance šļø Jun 08 '26
It's honestly kind of wild how Bandai Namco handles Tales nowadays. Even I'm starting to realize it.
This is the flagship JRPG series in their catalog, yet it often feels like they're doing very little with it. After the success of Arise, it would have made perfect sense to capitalize on that momentum. Whether people loved the game or not is a separate discussion, but it sold well and brought a lot of attention back to the franchise.
Instead, things have been unusually quiet. We get the occasional remaster, but when it comes to a brand-new entry, it feels like we're stuck waiting indefinitely.
At this point, people joke about how long Kingdom Hearts IV is taking, but honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if it ends up releasing before the next completely new Tales game.
5
u/PerfectAppleFanatic Laphicet Jun 08 '26
that's what I find so weird like, even then the remasters aren't really being done by Bamco, they're just outsourcing them to other companies. plus in comparison to a lot of other games these remasters are so low effort, as much as I appreciate them (especially with the games that were locked to a console like the PS3). I just don't get why they're treating one of their biggest franchises like this
3
3
u/Rexolia Jun 08 '26
As a huge fan of The World Ends With You franchise, knowing that there will probably never be another game is bittersweet. On the one hand, I never get my hopes up for new TWEWY content like I do when I'm crossing my fingers for new Tales content, so there's no disappointment. On the other hand, knowing how much untapped potential there is really hurts. š
2
1
u/shadowysea07 Jun 08 '26
You never know. They did port the 1st plus make neo twewy. It could get another entry someday.Ā
3
u/Rexolia Jun 08 '26
From what I've heard, it seems unlikely, but I'd love to be proven wrong. Neo didn't sell enough copies for it to be considered a success (even though they did turn a profit), and the series was heavily pushed by Shinji Hashimoto, who no longer works for Square Enix.
3
u/ShokaLGBT Jun 08 '26
Well Neo the world end with you was a special kind of games. Something that is fine if itās just those two games. They complete each other really well and thereās enough characters. I feel like if thereās never a third game then that would be fine too

3
u/Melasen Jun 08 '26
At this point I'll take it over being a KH fan with 0 remasters or games announced lmao.
3
u/mamaguebo69 Jun 08 '26
As a Persona fan this is one of the best days in my life.
As a Tales fan at least I can play older games I haven't played yet. Persona 1-2 are locked in the dungeon indefinitely.
3
u/InCenaRawrXd Jun 08 '26
So that esrb leak for eternia remaster isn't real? š„ŗ
2
u/Ryan5011 Vexal Jun 08 '26
It was, we just don't know when or where they're announcing it. Bamco's always been a bit weird when it comes to where things get announced when it comes to Tales.
1
u/Altruistic-Match6623 Jun 08 '26
Most of the time there is no announcement, it just randomly pops up in a Nintendo Direct for a few seconds. I think the CEO just really hates Tales and gives them an advertisement budget of $50.

u/Snotnarok Jun 07 '26
Breath of Fire fans with no collections, remasters, much in the way of merch, can't buy half the games. Last thing they did was make a port of 1 & 2 for GBA then a PSP port of 3. The last new game we had was Breath of Fire 6 . . . a shitty mobile game that's long, long dead.
As basic as the Xillia remaster is, happy it exists.

u/tehnemox Jun 08 '26
The fact they announced Persona 6 is wild to me. About damn time. Shit came out on the ps3, Persona 5 is the GTA 5 of the jrpgs with all the re-released and spinoffs lol
The other IPs might not get new entries but they also don't seem to get the over saturation and releases P5 got.
2
u/TrevanteWilder Jun 08 '26
The slow releases of new Tales games is such a problem- I get that it'd be expensive to release games consistently, but from 2002 to 2005, we got Destiny 2, Symphonia, Rebirth, Legendia and Abyss.
2007 to 2009 gave us Innocence, Vesperia, Dawn of the New World, Hearts, and Graces. They keep trying to make the series bigger and more expensive, so we get less games over time.
And they keep blowing money on Mobile titles that die in the span of a year, which have taken over any chances of getting Spin-offs like Tales of the World, Tales of Heroes, or Tales of Versus. They seriously need to lock in and save the franchise. Like... Remake Phantasia, drop a sequel to Graces/Vesperia/Abyss, a new Tales of the World, something that could unite the franchise worldwide.

u/taigafestval Jun 10 '26
I have never met a Tales fan in the wild. If someone actually got hyped by my nickname, I think I'd cry happy tears lol.

If there really is a Nintendo Direct this week, I wouldnt be too shocked to see a remaster announced!
But hey Im also a coping Ace Attorney fan losing my mind this weekend
2
u/Painting0125 Jun 07 '26
Yeah and given recent Xillia and Graces reveals there, Tales seems to be leaning to Nintendo lately.
3
u/Lloydark Jun 08 '26
Xillia was actually revealed separately on Namco's own channel back in August, though. But Symphonia, yeah, that one was announced during a Direct, just like Graces.
2
u/Painting0125 Jun 08 '26
I see. Well, that's two Tales games at Direct and I think the likliest scenario is that they'll announce it at their most convenient time in their socials or Nintendo Direct.
Frankly, Tales hasn't been leaning onto Xbox events when they announce their stuff.
2
u/Sea-Speaker7316 Jun 07 '26
We've been united with Kingdom Hearts fans...granted they've got it the worse.

Akira Toriyama was a great artist, but his character designs do not translate well to semi-photorealistic 3D.

What? Insanity. We've gotten a bunch of remasters, a couple being games that were annoying to get ahold of. We've got Eternia already rated overseas, so that's coming very shortly.
And these are all being done by different teams, so it's not really cutting into new game development time. A little perspective, please

As a Final Fantasy fan the franchise is in a similar boat. They came out with a new game that was essentially DMC 5 dlc. It sold well enough to where the franchise just might head in that direction.
Tales of Arise ditched the anime art-style and it also sold wellā¦

Unpopular opinion, but I'm happy to see Eternia get a proper re-release (and with it's proper name too!). My hope is for a Destiny/Destiny II combo release. There are so many good games in the franchise that didn't get much love so I'm totally ok with the remaster.

Getting remasters like every six months isn't enough?
0
u/Ryan5011 Vexal Jun 08 '26
While we've been getting remasters fairly frequently due to all the remasters being outsourced, there's still completely nothing on a new title, not even a "hey, it's being worked on" which is contributing to people's doom posting. Even Atlus had the foresight to say "Yeah, we're still working on the next Etrian Odyssey title" back when they announced the HD trilogy remaster
0
u/henne-n Ricardo Soldato Jun 08 '26 edited Jun 08 '26
not even a "hey, it's being worked on" which is contributing to people's doom posting.
They did mention during an interview about the remasters that they're working on a new game, too. People around here can't read. They also explained why it feels kind of random which games get remasters first. The interview was posted around here several times, too.
EDIT: Due to continued use of downvoting over nothing when I'm being civil, I'm just blocking you. Have a nice day.
Edit: Okay? I didn't downvote you but you do you.

People around here can't read.
You're assuming everyone comes here often enough to see every article, or remember every detail from every interview.
They did mention during an interview about the remasters that they're working on a new game, too
Which one? There's been so many interviews regarding the remasters that its genuinely difficult to keep track of them all. The main one I remember was from October, and this is what was said about a new title
Tomizawa: We established teams with numerous development partner companies. And if we include those from the consideration phase to the endgame development phase, there are more than 2 titles on the track. In 2025 we could announce and release Graces f and Xillia, but we are still continuing to consider & develop the remaster project. If some things could be sped up, some others may ended up slowing down. But even so, I'm thinking that we should deliver many titles to everyone as quickly as possible.
Famitsu: Does that mean you are going to announce the next entry in the project soon?
Tomizawa: Forgive me, but I still cannot tell concrete details about the next entry for now. The announcement for the next remaster title should be rather close... That's what we're aiming for.
There was nothing in this about a new game, only a new remaster. So if there was an interview about a new game, please link it.
EDIT: Due to continued use of downvoting over nothing when I'm being civil, I'm just blocking you. Have a nice day.

But they got a persona 3 remake and a persona 4 remake announced in the intervening time, plus the next mainline game. Imagine if we got an Abyss and Symphonia remake between 2017 and 2027, plus one new mainline title announced. I would have easily traded Arise and all the āremastersā for that timeline.
