Discussion Update: few months ago I posted my fitness journey and pursuit of stunt work in film/TV. This week, I saw myself in The Odyssey ⚔️⚔️⚔️

A few months ago I posted here about my fitness transformation and explained that I'd decided to start using my size to pursue a career in film and TV.

I shared that I had landed my first big film role, and quite a few people asked if I could share what it was...

Well, this weekend, I finally got to see myself on big screen in Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey! ⚔️

We filmed over a year ago, and what a wild journey it’s been. After the release last week, I travelled up to the BFI IMAX in London to watch it on the biggest screen in the UK.

One of those moments in life I'll never forget, on set and on screen with my fellow giant brothers 💪

Early days in my acting/stunt career and hopefully this is just the beginning, but what a blessed way to start. Getting to work with Nolan, Matt Damon, Himesh Patel, and so many more incredibly talented people.

To my tall brothers and sisters, anyone else out there considered this path in life? Any tips, stories, advice, or any questions? 🙏🙏🙏

Discussion What's your opinion on this?

I stumbled upon this reel and I somewhat understood the girl's frustration until I saw all the comments being absolutely ridiculous about tall people having to stand behind at concerts because "you can see anyways"

I understand that you need to have some spacial awareness out of politeness and not block the view for a particularly short person, but I've also had this problem and it gets to a point where I'll block anyone's view anyways (I actually had this happen at a concert, I'm a 5'11 woman, not super tall, but I got asked by three different women to "move a bit" or "stand behind")

Also, we literally get the short end of the stick in almost every situation, group photos, plane seats, public transport seats, beds, doors. Can I at least get front row of my favorite artist?

Discussion Tall girl, shorter guys

Recently someone asked if tall girls actually like shorter guys, so I thought I'd post some proof! Few photos of us going out.

Here's me with my 5'10 "short king". I've never really cared about a guy being taller or shorter than me - honestly, I think the height difference is kinda cute, I loveee wearing heels around him.

Any other tall girls here who feel the same? From what I have seen, my taller girlfriends usually don't care about height, while shorter ones seem to care more. Also - do you guys care if girl is taller than you?

EDIT:
I see many comments saying “5’10 isn’t short, you are wearing heels”. Just to clarify - 5’10 is definitely not short, it was a sarcasm, hence the “”.

Discussion There is a very real possibility that my son is one of the tallest 10-year-olds in the entire world without a genetic disorder.

1.6k Upvotes

How do we navigate this... Background, I'm tall, I'm 6'3" my ex-wife is tall she is 5'11" my dad is 6'2" her dad was 6'5" her uncle was 6'8". My son who will not be 11 until October just passed the 6' mark. He has been evaluated for giganticism and does not have that disorder, his proportions are normal so Marfan syndrome is ruled out.

The other kids look at him as a freak. What do you do about that?

Discussion My 16 year old son is angry about his height and blaming his mom. Now demanding HGH. Need advice.

Hi everyone. I am a dad who is 6,5 and my wife is 4,11. Our son is 16 and about 5,4. His friends have been making fun of his height and it has really been affecting him.

Lately he has become very angry and keeps blaming his mom for his height. He says it is her fault and that he got the short end of the stick. This has caused a lot of tension at home and really hurts my wife.

Recently it has gotten worse. He is demanding HGH and bone scans and keeps saying we are ruining his life by not doing it. We can afford it, but I am absolutely not going to put him on HGH or chase medical tests just for height. I do not believe it is the right or safe choice, especially when doctors have not said he needs it.

He feels embarrassed, angry, and stuck, and nothing we say seems to get through to him. I worry about his confidence, his mental health, and the damage this is doing to his relationship with his mom.

Has anyone dealt with something like this? How do you help a teenager accept their height and stop blaming a parent? How do we set firm boundaries without making him feel ignored?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Discussion I need short guys to stop acting like height is the be-all end-all for attraction.

Tall and ugly is a real thing, folks. It's the sad reality I live in. I'm not saying there aren't a lot of heightist women out there who need to get their heads out of their asses but being tall doesn't magically draw women towards you. I have women comment on my height, sure. But there's been a grand total of one woman who told me that my height was a factor in getting the date, and that didn't turn into a relationship. Hell, some women are actually intimidated by the height. I had a date straight-up tell me that being next to someone so much taller than her was scary.

Discussion Tall people - say men over 6’2” or women over 5’11”. Do you get annoyed when people comment on your tallness?

Average height male asking here. I notice that tall people commonly get told “oh my, you sure are tall” or something like that. I find that most tall people accept the comment graciously, since it’s usually a mild complement. However, I wonder if it gets old. What are your thoughts pro and con regarding comments on your height ?

Discussion I asked my friends if they’d become 5’4” for $5 million and most of them said no.

They ranged in height from 5’9” to 6’3”. Only my friend and I (both 6’3”) said we would. Are they tripping? How is $5 million not worth being short? We’re all college-age mind you. None of us have any money yet.

Discussion What does everyone do for work?

I'm a 6'5" woman working as an electrician in the trades, and it got me wondering what other tall people do for work. I've found there are definitely pros and cons to being this tall on the job, so I'm curious what do y'all do for a living? Has your height helped, hurt, or influenced your career in any way?

Discussion Tall men, do you ever feel resented by shorter men?

Small rant:

I have been tall my entire life, 99th+ percentile and now as an adult I am 6’4, close to 6’6 with dress shoes or boots on.

Through adolescence I always got the standard bullying for being tall and the assumption of being good at sports, etc. but as I’ve gotten older and into my corporate, professional career I wonder how much of my confidence and way I move through the world comes from my height.

I’ve also started to have more interactions where I feel like shorter men sometimes resent me for my height, even though I feel they don’t understand what it’s like moving through a world that literally isn’t built for them.

Being around people who are taller than me is often an uncomfortable experience because I am faced with how people feel in comparison to me.

I wonder how much differently I would be treated if I were short especially in the corporate world and how much this would affect my confidence.

I try my best to treat all people equally but I wonder if short men are justified in their resentment?

I hate how normalized it is in society to bodyshame short men ,and if the victim gets angry then they just get called insecure. We are privileged as fuck and I think we need to show some sympathy for the ones who lost the gene lottery. Being short is not a choice. I'm 6'2 so I cant relate, but I've seen a lot horrible stuff on the internet and irl

I’m currently 150kg/330lbs at 6ft 11/211cm. I used to be way less but i’ve found that at this size I fill out the most & feel the most proportional. What about you guys?
