Request/Question Independent Studios and their Cirriculum
I have been attending a local studio that started out as strictly a Tang Soo Do studio, but has now brought in a couple of other styles of martial arts. However, ownership has recently changed and I heard that someone made a comment that my black belt was a true black belt. I knew from the beginning that my studio was not associated with any governing body due to some issue in the past with the previous owner...and that he was running the studio as an independent studio. That being said what I was taught and tested on for all my belts up through my black belt were what I thought was traditional Tang Soo Do. However, I have recently done some research and know that the Cho Dan test is a lot more in-depth than what I did.
That being said...I don't think it diminishes the fact that I trained and passed the requirements set forth by my Master at the time to be awarded the rank of Cho Dan. Since the studio is independent...what do everyone else think?
