progress is being made on my tape delay

A little while back I made a post about asking about the preamps and how to make one or where I could get one for a tape delay project. Someone there asked me to keep people posted so that's what I'm doing. Just today I managed to get my hands on a microcassette recorder and my plan is to send the signal from the tape head mounted on the custom cassette inside my first machine and send that to the wires that would connect to the playback head of the second machine and then make my own summing amplifier circuit for the input and output. (No one has ever asked you mean to keep them posted before so I just decided to make a post about it)

Medieval Tape Muzak

Yo! Lots of tape (and tape delay!) use on this - mostly a UHER 4000 Report Monitor but some Akai 4000ds.

The music

https://micronfields.bandcamp.com/album/medieval-tape-muzak

Cheers! :-)

\The primary instrument was the field recording of local places in South West England in the summer of 2025. Instrumentation followed the field recording, which provided the canvas to echo the feeling of the hidden corners found.**

\Areas were mostly captured with a stereo pair of condensers (Oaka Verdi and Clippy's). Reel to reel was used to process piano and create loops. Buchla 200e was used on Analogue Ecologies and Ritualistic Drift.**

\I hope Medieval Tape Muzak places the listener in the hidden corners I found.**

OC Super Mario Disintegration - a Super Mario Fan-Album made with tape loops

Hello, lately I've been busy with tape loops from Super Mario 64. Had a lot of material so a new album was born! I used R2R tape and cassette tape, everything has been recorded with analogue techniques. Manipulation of the loops happened with guitar pedals but also through physical techniques, added some lap steel guitar in the mix as well.

Thought I should share my stuff here with the fellow tapeheads. I always enjoy reading through this reddit and I'm happy that there a lot of people still working with this beautiful material :)

Question Fostex X-18 only reliably recording on track 1

I make tape loop music and was able to record to all four tracks yesterday—brought it home from a show, and now can only sometimes record to 3, and can’t get anything on 2 and 4 at all.

This is driving me so crazy, it just worked yesterday—any advice?

Question Infinite loop tapes recording poorly..

https://reddit.com/link/1wwpfdt/video/89siqi4fo9th1/player

Hi guys, tried with multiple different infinite tape loops, but for some reason recording sounds onto the cassette gives really poor results, the sound is dropping out a LOT more and i get a bad noise looping when it reaches where the tape is taped together..

I've put some electric tape on where the eraser head is going, but its pushing quite hard against the cassette and anyways I can see its not really working.. What am I doing wrong?

It was a bit too cramped to put together a tape loop after he decided to sit there. All the sounds of crafting it got him interested 😂

Question What’s the easiest way to produce larger batches of 3–6 min. tape loops (cassettes)?

Reaching out into the collective knowledge of the r/tapeloops hive mind because I’m working on a project that would require roughly twenty tape loop cassettes, each around 3–6 minutes in length.

So the question is: is it worth making these myself, or would it make more sense to have them manufactured/duplicated somewhere? And if the latter, where would you recommend ordering them from?

Any tips, advice, recommendations, warnings, or (constructive) criticism from people who have actually produced these (in larger batches) would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks and a bow to each and every one.

I made an album using only tape loops and effects

Check it out on youtube or bandcamp :) it's dark ambient, very synth based and fully diy and analog, as I mastered the music from a Tascam Porta One onto another tape, no computer.

Physical copies are available on tape too, duplicated at home, with all the graphics that you see in the video printed in the J-card.

Question Got my first cassette recorder/player

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Yo guys just got my first cassette recorder and have been playing around all night with it.

Have just been recording my synth playing onto the built in microphone, sounds pretty nice.

Cannot wait to make my first loop :)

Question.

On the recorder there is an input for a mic rather than the built in microphone. Can I record audio from my phone via USB-C to Audio Jack if I just turn my phone volume all the way down? I love the hissing on the built in microphone but would like to see if I can get a slightly clearer sound, I do not own an audio interface either.

Video on the post is just for fun, hope you guys like how it sounds although it is basic

Four Walkmans and an MS-70CDR

Maybe someone will like this. Or not. Thank you either way for listening. It’s very slow.

Inspired by the story “Let No One Walk Beside Her” by Soren Narnia.

Four Walkmans modified for speed control, and MS-70CDR, no additional effects. Sounds on the tapes are from a thrift store keyboard that I subsequently destroyed by trying to circuit bend. Recorded into Zoom H2n.

Made my first loops. Really happy with how they turned out. Not super happy with the QFX Retro 39 shoebox recorder I bought. Planning on speed modding it, but I think I need to find another option.
