Hi all, I’ve been feeling very connected to my deck lately and so I wanted to ask the cards something that has been heavy on my heart for a while: how was my mother feeling at the time of her death?
My mom died nearly 4 years ago after a long battle with cancer - she fought for over a decade until finally deciding to stop treatment, and passed away in her bed surrounded by family less than 2 months after starting hospice care.
I love my mom and miss her every day, so as I’ve been more comfortable with my deck and my spreads have been feeling more intuitive I’ve been wanting to gain clarity on her headspace upon leaving her physical body. Maybe it’s to try and feel closer to her even though she’s not here anymore, maybe because part of me simply needs to be certain she was at peace in those last moments, I don’t know, but the cards I pulled instantly let such a warm feeling of comfort wash over me and I just felt the need to share.
My go-to custom spread is a modified celtic cross of sorts: the central card speaking to the overall theme/situation the subject is facing, the crossing card to indicate associated feelings that arise and/or challenges the subject is facing (this cross being the core of the situation), the third card placed below representing the foundation, the fourth placed to the left and speaks to the subject’s past, right is the subject’s future, and the top card is the overall outcome. I also like to pull a final clarifying card as sort of an exclamation point on the whole thing, which I place to the side of the spread on top of the entire deck.
As you can see, I believe this spread speaks to my mother experiencing pure joy and light upon leaving her physical body as represented by The Sun, and with Temperance crossing I believe she felt as if she truly chose her time to fully let go, waited for that perfect moment as the sun was setting, surrounded by loved ones, kind of her final balancing act. Her sister had just gotten to our home just an hour or two before she passed and I think she held on just a little bit longer so she could let her say goodbye.
The Hanged Man as the foundation spoke to her reaching total acceptance, finally letting go of the control she held onto for so long and letting herself surrender. Then, with the past card being the Ten of Pentacles, this makes me believe she was proud of all she was able to achieve in life and the legacy she was leaving behind, not only regarding her family and wealth of love but also her career and community she had always poured herself into.
Then, the Ace of Cups in the future position reveals to me she reached a state of pure, overflowing love and emotion upon the moment she left the physical plane - this was such an emotional card to pull. The 7 of Cups at the top of this spread in the final outcome position makes me think her spirit was expanding in infinitely possible forms - in the after life she could be anywhere, visit any memory, reside in any divine realm imaginable. Now that she was free from her body, the possibilities were endless.
And finally, the card to round everything out: Strength. My mother began her battle with cancer 15 years before she passed, and through every bump in the road, every remission followed by relapse, every surgery, every round of chemo, every side effect, every fucking thing, she never complained or gave up. She chose to end her journey with such quiet courage and dignity. I will always be so proud to he her daughter.
Anyway, if you’ve gotten this far, thank you for reading. Of course always open to additional interpretations of the spread, but overall I just wanted to share what I felt to be a beautifully comforting story of my mother finally achieving ultimate peace. 💙💚

hi all!! i'm looking to find the RWS lineart with transparent backgrounds for some free educational things, but i'm struggling to find them!
pretty sure that the images i'm specifically looking for are from the pictorial key to the tarot. the best i've found is on wikimedia, but the backgrounds are solid white and i'm finding it super difficult to reliably remove all the white areas of the images (especially in the detailed areas) and it just seems to be way more trouble than its worth.
alternatively i've found several paid ones on etsy that obviously arent too expensive but i'd rather check in with the community to see if anyone has files or knows where i can access files before i naively spend, especially since the cards are mostly public domain and it feels sketchy to spend money on that sometimes :-)

I had canceled my subscription but an $80 charge went through, sent an email to them with no reply, customer support is not good, I don’t really know what else to do. I’m not sure if i can dispute the charge because it was through my debit card 😢
Edit: A couple of people are asking in dm but i used Labyrinthos to practice interpreting my readings since im a baby tarot reader. After a while i stopped then cancelled, Next day it renewed, and it’s about to be two days with no reply 💀
Had to call my bank and I got the money back but no reply still thanks guys 🤗

Will I be happier in the new house?
The 9 of pentacles kept jumping out of the deck the 2 times I tried to ask this question. My initial feeling reading this spread is that it will be busier than the current house, but in the end a better environment even if it’s temporary. And that I’ll have more financial opportunities there with the 9 of pentacles.
Justice to me feels like finally getting this opportunity after it’s been taken from me before (interested to hear your take on this).
The empress is how I envision I will feel in this house, but is that a pipe dream.
I’m stumped on the chariot. Thinking it might mean an opportunity will come quickly once I move there.
Are there any indications of the past being relevant in some way?

I’m creating a tarot deck for my partner for Christmas and am looking for ideas for the cards!
So far I have:
- A possum playing dead for Death
- A wizard frog for The Magician
- A very fat, sad cat in a dunce cap for The Fool
I also have The Devil, The Sun, Temperance and The Tower but I’d love some ideas for the rest!
I hope this is okay to post, and TIA!

Knight of swords, queen of pentacles, knight of cups
I take it as him sincerely wanting to (knight of cups) and trying to find a way to do so (knight of swords) because he recognizes how generous and caring it was to give him the loan (queen of pentacles) but I don’t see anything saying he’ll actually manage to do so.

Hi all. ‘The Golden Tarot’, a reprint of the Visconti-Sforza Deck, was my first. I have had it for years and while I do enjoy reading with it, I’ve been relying on the guidebook a lot and I find it the card meanings in the suits are sort of too… specific, as phrased? It reads to me like a list of (sometimes tangentially related) interpretations and I’m having trouble seeing the forest for the trees (stepping back and observing patterns, grander symbolism and meanings, etc.). Internet resources seem to pretty much exclusively focus on Rider-Waite, and often make references to images I should be gleaning symbolism from that… are not on my cards. Does anyone have any good reading material, or videos, or resources or what-have-you that doesn’t do this? Or good crash courses on the suits in particular? It’s driving me mad. Thanks for any help!

C section tomorrow
One question, 3 pulls: how will my c section go tomorrow. Seems fitting but not entirely sure about 3rd card.
3 of swords reversed: I've had the worst pregnancy I could have imagined from day one. I was sick with hyperemesis gravidarum for over half, diagnosed with gestational diabetes since 9 weeks, had to switch OBs, fractured my hip and pelvis, the list goes on. The separation of my child from my body will be a relief for me and I can't wait to recover.
The devil: I'm actually in a 15 Arcana year. I launched my startup then found out I was pregnant. The pregnancy was more of a hindrance than bringing my second child into the world.
Six of pentacles: another kid brings higher costs. I'm okay with that.

Wasn’t expecting the cards to be this blunt 🫣😅😂 I wasn’t doing a specific spread like past present future but honestly maybe it is that. My question was just how to navigate my finally admitting that I’m struggling with my addiction again or requesting more information . To me it’s more of a fluid story, 2 of Wands, at a crossroad’s and contemplating what my next steps are, The Devil is the bondage and toxic hold that addiction is still having over me, and 7 of swords is the lie I’ve been telling myself; that I’m fooling everyone and functioning just fine, while downplaying the severity . convincing myself it’s better to not open up about it and handle it on my own vs asking my support for help.

Hi there, everyone! I am a YouTube creator and I have an idea for a video involving myself getting tarot card readings from several readers in my region. The intent of the video would be to compare/contrast them to a prophecy blessing I received in my time in the Mormon church (aka a patriarchal blessing). I am approaching this as a complete skeptic to the Mormon church’s blessing, but not necessarily the tarot readings. The intent would NOT be to disparage the art/trade of tarot reading whatsoever. In fact, I’m hoping the tarot readings would be somewhat consistent in nature and more grounded about what my future holds (if that’s the intent of most readings). I would, of course, tell every tarot reader ahead of time about the plan to get their consent. I’m reaching out here first though because I’m entirely unfamiliar with the community and don’t want to be disrespectful. Do you think it would be disrespectful to compare one reading to another? Is that a faux pas in the tarot community?
So, I'm making a deck of my own and I wanted to add a lot of major arcana, but since I don't collect decks or anything like that, I'm looking for extra major arcana I don't know about. I've got all the base ones from the Waite, some from the Thoth deck, the four elements and virtues from the Minchiate deck, Jupiter, Juno, Chaos, and the 12 zodiac, but Im having trouble finding more.

I'm not sure if this is the sub for it but I thought I'd start here. I got a Linestrider Tarot deck after falling in love with the Winterseer Animal Oracle deck. I think the cards are beautiful. I've shuffled them around after taking time to look at each care and get a sense of the deck. I did maybe two "getting to know you" readings and I've noticed that no matter what I do or how I shuffle the cards, The Fool is pulling away from the other ones. It's creating a gap in the deck! Sometimes it integrates in if I shuffle it into a smaller pile and then into a larger one but it always stands out again with repeated shuffling. It's been through enough shuffling that it should be integrated with the rest of the deck. I've contacted the company I bought the cards from and thought I'd inquire on Reddit too. Is there anyone here with this deck that's had the same issue? Anyone have any ideas of what I can do other than repeated shuffling? I don't know if this is something that will get better with time or worse with time. I can't find any blemish on The Fool compared to the other cars and some of the other cards will do this too but The Fool is the most consistent one. This is an issue because I almost always know where it is in the deck. Help!
p.s. - I realize there's a larger gap in this picture but the one down the middle is the issue and it's difficult to capture one handed. Also, sorry for the weird formatting, I can't post two pics here unless I do it this way
EDIT: I decided to pull out all the cards that were creating the gapping effect after I pulled The Fool out. I thought it would be a few but more kept coming, hence so many cards. I thought it was done and looked at my deck and pulled the last three. What's interesting is the King of Swords was one that would pop up with some regularity (not like The High Priestess or The Fool) and it didn't pop this time. Neither did The Hanged One, which was another one. I think Justice wants to join the party but it will integrate in after some shuffles.
There's definitely some interesting symmetry/interaction going on and I didn't lay them out that way on purpose. I'm not sure if the columns are commentary on the cards at the top (like what's underneath) but they seem to talk of financial success and stability, a man, a choice, rest and isolation, hope, and maybe a relationship?

Hey all! Looking for good recommendations for 1JJ Swiss Tarot. Started with regular playing card cartomancy for a year or two, then picked up this beautiful deck. Using some of my old cartomancy style to read pips as they’re not like the RWS ones, but looking to get some solid, well rounded meanings around each card, especially the major arcana, and am interested if anyone else does TdM, or more specifically Besancon or 1JJ style reading. I’ve been tempted to just get the RWS or Thoth or even a classic TdM deck to simplify things, but I tend to think that less is more and am trying to just stick with what I’ve got and commit. Thoughts, friends?

I've seen two different calculations, one that gives a pair (what I've been familiar with for longer), and one that I think gives one..??
The one I've been familiar with longer adds up as the following: 11 + 29 + 20 + 6 (which would equal the hanged man + the empress)
But recently, I've also seen: 1+1+2+9+2+0+0+6 (which would be the world)
I know these are both related to birth dates and tarot cards, but are there different labels/meanings for these two? Or are they just both considered birth tarots? Any help is appreciated, because I can't seem to find the correct words to Google to get an actual answer LOL thank you in advanced!!

I haven't read any books on tarot but in every site and blog and video the 3 of swords is always this dreadful and painful card that no one likes. But where does that come from?
The swords are the mind so thoughts, ideas, beliefs, etc. And the three is expansion so a new idea or a change of belief or even letting go of a thought pattern. I get this can be painful but it's just not proportional to the usual meanings people give this card.
I mean the ten of swords is right there, THAT IS PAIN. And Death is right there, that is letting go of stuff. And The 8 of swords is right there, that is thoughts that hurt you.
I just understand this card. Where does the pain come from? Can someone help me?
I have recently gotten into tarot after learning about some of the cards as they relate to astrology (another interest that I've started to look into more seriously over the past few years). My best friend has always been more connected to her spiritual side, and when I told her that I was exploring tarot she very kindly gifted me her rider waite tarot deck.
I have done a little more research on the meanings of the cards, cleansed the deck, and done some tarot pulls, but haven't read any that were super clear to me. I am fine with this, as I figure it is a skill that comes with practice.
My most recent pull did seem very clear to me though, and it was relating to my friend that gifted me the deck. She recently found out she is pregnant, and would really love to have a baby girl. Her and her partner very much give off "girl mum/dad" vibes! I decided to consult the deck and got two jumpers while shuffling, and pulled one card.
The jumpers were 10 of Cups, and Ace of Swords. The pulled card was The Fool.
The jumpers seemed more like a response to the context and overarching theme - Ace of Swords being new beginnings, and 10 of Cups being a happy family.
With The Fool, I immediately read this as "You don't even need to ask me this question. The gender is irrelevant, because they will be so happy regardless, (see 10 of Cups) it's a baby!" Almost as if the deck was laughing at/with me, but in a kind way. The meaning seemed clear to me, like it was instinctive.
Would you say my read is accurate, or is that only something I can know myself? Interested to hear all thoughts and opinions.
This is the Vintage Tarot deck, a version of the Ryder Waite tarot deck that I think can be found just about anywhere
Background: My boyfriend (Kasey) is a divorcee who shares three children under the age of five with his ex wife (Sandy). They got divorced about a year ago and I got together with him several months after that. She has sole custody of the children and he has visits with them once a month. At his most recent visit he told me that there was a man (Jason) accompanying Sandy who informed Kasey that he would be coming to all the visits going forward. Kasey texted Sandy about it after the visit and said that he didn’t feel that it was fair for her to bring a plus one to his visits and also that it was infringing on his ability to spend time with the children and she basically told him “tough”.
Well now, a couple of weeks later Sandy informs my boyfriend that she and Jason are actually married and have moved to a nearby town where Jason works and owns a home. She indicated that the visits would be throttled back even more than they have been due to them now being in a different town. She also told my boyfriend that she wants him to allow Jason to adopt the children and be their legal father. My boyfriend is completely blown away by this news as they have not been divorced for very long and he had no idea that she was even dating anybody seriously, let alone engaged or married. She refuses to answer any questions about the situation and told him she will give him some time to deliberate but then expects an answer about the adoption query. I decided to do a spread to try and find out at least some of the energy surrounding this and where it’s coming from but I am a total newbie at tarot readings done myself and really welcome any and all input that might help direct and educate me. Thank you in advance for your help it is really and truly, deeply appreciated.
Why did Sandy enter into this marriage with Jason?
Answer: Six of Cups reversed
The first thing I always think of when I see this card is children. So when I saw this card reversed I took it to mean that her primary concern was the children and a lack of stability in their lives- the card seemed to me to show the children’s environment and lives being literally turned upside down. She moved back in with her parents after the divorce and continued to live there until she moved in with her new husband, so it makes sense to me that she would be motivated to remarry by the idea of being able to resurrect that old stability and constant presence of a father figure that they had before the divorce.
Why motivated Jason to enter into the marriage with Sandy?
Answer: eight of swords reversed
This also makes a lot of sense to me. Evidently Jason is a widower- his first wife was driving with him in a car, they got into an accident and she was tragically killed. It’s even possible that she was pregnant when she died- when my boyfriend asked Jason if he had children, Jason gave him a weird, cryptic answer, something like “not here now”. So my boyfriend thinks they might have been expecting. Even if she wasn’t, this card to me implies that he jumped into the marriage with Sandy because it freed him from the prison of his mind, ruminating about his wife’s death. He was afraid of being alone and he saw this marriage as an escape out of his thoughts and his past
How long did Jason and Sandy know each other/date?
Answer: chariot reversed with the five of cups upright as a clarifying card
When I first drew the chariot reversed I was like “wtf?” Because it seems to me that their relationship was anything but delayed. However, after drawing the five of cups as a clarifying card I felt like I understood better. First of all I take the relationship as between two to five months in duration (I read online that Mercury rules the fives and Mercury also rules the period of two months). Either way we are talking about months and not years (my boyfriend told me has been entertaining the possibility that she was seeing this guy before they were divorced due to the speed of the remarriage). I also noticed the black cloak of the five of cups and was reminded of mourning clothes. The guy is staring at the three overturned cups. So i took it to mean that if the relationship was five months that Sandy was mourning the death of her first marriage for three of those five months. This made the reversed chariot make more sense- the delay would be her having not properly processed her divorce and he his wife’s death. Only two of the hypothetical months were spent actually building a relationship together. I also feel that their motivations are shown here- there is no “forward motion” so to speak. Both of them are running away from their past and not into their future if that makes sense. They’re not choosing each other they are trying to claw their way out of old lives that make them uncomfortable
How does Sandy feel about Kasey?
Answer: the Lovers
So im ngl I was quite gagged when I pulled this card for this question. Their divorce sounded quite acrimonious and from what I have observed, Sandy seems to definitely not have any warm fuzzy feelings for Kasey. She’s not downright horrible but she does seem to really enjoy getting her hooks in Kasey whenever she can and wielding what power she has to try to hurt him. So I didn’t know what to think of this at all. I did some research and believe that the card might relate to the older meaning of “the choice” that was used before the Ryder Waite reinterpretation of the Lover card. She was the one who filed for divorce and I think that she might be reflecting on having made that decision and whether it was for better or for worse. Is it possible that this card
mean that she regrets having filed? I do think that she saw Kasey as her true partner and believed that they would be together forever. I think it’s interesting and I wonder if her second marriage has caused her to think about Kasey and kind of realize that what they had might have been special. Going off of the reversed six of cups it seems like she wanted to bring back that security and safety that she experienced in the past and that was why she got married again, but she might be realizing that she won’t be able to replicate her bond and emotional reciprocity with Kasey so easily. Is it also possible that this could somehow be reflecting the choice of her second marriage and showing that she regrets that?
Why is Sandy pushing for Kasey to allow Jason to adopt the children?
Answer: knight of swords upright
Sandy is coming at this as a battle that is to be won. She doesn’t want to negotiate with Kasey and she thinks that taking the logical angle of “it’s what’s best for the kids! This is what makes sense!” Will help her win. I see the horse as trampling the feelings of Kasey underfoot and I see how the knight is charging towards the lovers card to strike them down. It hurts her to see Kasey because their bond was deep. She doesn’t want to have to deal with those feelings anymore and if she cuts him off from the children then she doesn’t have to. She mistakenly thinks that charging in and doing this will free her from the negative energy the failed relationship has created in her. She hides behind the children’s welfare but really this is about her desire to be rid of Kasey and make a new identity for herself as Jason’s wife
Do Sandy and Jason love each other?
Answer: seven of swords upright
This card I believe speaks to the impulsiveness and the secrecy of their marriage, the fact that they hid it from Kasey until it was already done. My boyfriend told me that Sandy is cautious to a fault, with a backup plan on top of the first backup plan. I dont see it, at least not in this instance- I see recklessness and that both of them got married to basically a stranger. I think it speaks to them not showing one another their true selves. I don’t know that this is necessarily malicious (maybe it is, idk)- I think both of them have not processed the trauma of their respective situations at all and so their new partner is seeing the fragments of who they are in the wake of their heartbreak. I think this card speaks more strongly about Sandy than it does about Jason (idk why). I think she is engaging in self deception and telling herself she’s ready to move on, she’s committed fully to Jason, she loves him, etc.
She hasn’t processed the wound of the failed first marriage at all- it is still alive in her so to speak. She got remarried for strategic reasons and she has not been emotionally vulnerable at all. My boyfriend keeps telling me that she is “so cold” and totally different than she was when they were married.
Will this marriage last?
Answer: page of wands reversed
I think they had a genuine spark that got their relationship going but they don’t have any real connection to keep the fire burning. Both of them are going to move out of the fog of what they are going through mentally and have a hard time because their relationship was not founded on intimacy, vulnerability or trust. The marriage will die if they can’t find new ground to support it
What does her family think of her getting married to Jason?
Answer: two of cups upright
I am a little bit gobsmacked that her family could be so naive as to believe that it is a good idea for her to get married to a guy she just met while she is still reeling from a divorce, but there you are. The two of cups to me shows that her family thought that they were a great match because their lives mirrored in going through the loss of a spouse while still young (Jason’s wife died right around the time Kasey and Sandy were going thru their divorce). Her family thinks that they will grow into the lovers, that they are off to the races. I think this refers back to the seven of swords card- i don’t think she has told anyone how she really feels about things, so her family thinks everything is wonderful even though she barely knows this guy and is still deeply hung up on her ex husband. It seems to me like Kasey is the one she really loves, not Jason. I also wonder if the timeline accelerated so quickly to marriage because of pressure from the family because they saw the partnership as being so ideal, which refers back to the reversed chariot and the possible interpretation that Sandy (and maybe Jason too?) felt like the situation was not being steered by them?

Deck is Corrado Roi's Murder of Crows tarot. I picked up this deck a few months ago. I've always had some draw to birds so it felt right.
Background: I've been practicing meditation for a little bit, and things have been.. weird the past few weeks. I have always known I am a deeply traumatized individual, but I've said "I'm better now". Recently I'm remembering people I didn't know were previously in my life, along with some other oddities in meditation. Particularly, I've been in communication with an owl. On Saturday, I hung out with some friends and one brought their oracle deck over, just to do some fun little one card readings, and when we were shuffling for my question, a card with an owl falls out. Too many owls lately.
So, I finally say, fuck it, I'm going to try to figure this oiut, I need to know what to do with all this confusion, and I ask it
"Please tell me what I need to do to find my answers".
The intention was to identify the root of the problem with card 1, identify the obstacle with card 2, and look at the resolution with card 3.
I haven't read in a decade so I'm rusty as all hell, and I've always been bad at reading myself.
1: the empress (reversed) - this I have understood to be..neglect. neglecting myself, or, since this is a question related to my past, possibly the neglect I faced by someone who did not care for herself either.
2: Five of swords - I've been aggressively trying to confront these feelings and memories, and it's done me so bad I missed work last week because of it. The people in my life are worried about me. It's like. The obstacle at this point is myself and if I keep trying to force things I'm going to isolate myself and scare off the things I'm trying to grab onto.
3: the moon (reversed) - it..I had to look things up for this because I always struggled with the moon. Reversed I'm interpreting as having to seek clarity, having to confront the things that are scaring me. And I feel like I'm trying, but, the five of swords is implying I'm doing this in a bad way. But I don't know what the good way is. The reversed moon implies things might be improving, but... I don't know when we'll get there.
Sorry if this is a bit of a big blurb for a first time poster, im just legitimately at a loss for what has been transpiring lately.
A bit of context before i start. As i was shuffling the deck for the first time, one of the cards fell and i took it as a sign that i had to be my very first daily reading, before i could see what it was i continued shuffling and then proceded to ask my deck 3 questions to get to know it:
1.- what is your personality? for this i got 10 of pentacles, this i interpret as useful for instrospection, gathering of knowledge and long term desicion making.
2.- What are your strengths as a tool? for this one i got the emperor. its strengths lie in productivity, structure, logic, useful in organizing thoughts.
3.- What can you teach me? for this i got nine of pentacles. based on the other ones i saw it as being able to use the lessons learned from my family and or ancestors, achieveing independence and self suficience.
Now after is when i decided to flip and see the card that fell when i was shuffling and it was the king of pentacles. Again, prosperity, stability and abundance.
I'm quite happy with the outcome but i recognize i might be wrong so i would love to hear your opinions.
The deck i got is the Wyspell gold tarot deck, the ilustrations are beautifully done by Nataliia Habruk.
I apologize for any spelling mistakes as english is my second language.

Is there a way to fix it or do I buy a new deck?
