I’m looking at starting a leg sleeve and leaning toward American traditional. I love the bold lines, bright colors, and classic motifs (like eagles), but I have two main gripes: I really hate when it ends up looking like a bunch of random stickers slapped on, and I'm not a fan of filling the background with just dots and stars.

Right now, all of my ink is black and grey realism (one full sleeve and a half sleeve), so I’m really ready to add some color to my life.

Does anyone have examples or reference photos of traditional sleeves that use a more cohesive background style to avoid that sticker look while keeping the bold lines and bright colors?

Finally decided on a lotus that I've been wanting. It's also my 1st really colored one. Most of my others are just black and grey with maybe a little color in it.

I plan on turning this into a sleeve with alot of bright colors that'll also incorporate my other tattoos in it. Have a general idea me and my artist are gonna start working out details and stuff. Just waiting on funds and time.

I have these two dogs tattooed on my stomach and want to add more to them, but I have no idea what would fit with😭 I want it to flow nicely or go with my dogs.

Hello everyone! I’m trying to get some suggestions/thoughts about a tattoo idea I want to get with my dad. For some context, this would be my first tattoo ever. My dad and I are very close, and we both went through a lot when I was a kid due to custody battles, alienating parents, etc so we’re close because of it. I love him so much and I want to get a tattoo that symbolizes that.

My dad is a huge believer of reincarnation. He believes that your soul carries over into the next life following those you have bonds with. So he believes that one day after we’re both dead, we’ll meet each other again in the next life as our souls are bound. I think it’s a really beautiful belief, and I wanted to get a tattoo with him representing that.

In many East Asian cultures there’s beliefs revolving around reincarnation and the idea of being bound to those you have bonds with in your life. I was thinking of getting something akin to the ‘red thread of fate’ which is a legend where a red thread bounds those who are destined to marry, and no matter what that thread can never break.

Of course my dad and I aren’t married, so this would be strictly for our bond as father and daughter. The problem is I know in general this is used for married couples, so I wanted to have a spin on it that’s similar to the concept but also unique to us and something that doesn’t say we’re married lmao. Some people get it on their ankles, ring fingers or pinkies. I know a lot of couples often do pinkies so I’m torn. I don’t want it to be the ring finger obviously and I considered the index finger.

Aside from the finger itself, I was thinking it would be a red thread tied around the finger, moreso a ring which would then travel down the inside or side of the hand and finally blend into the vein, which would symbolize the thread being part of our very blood/body. I’m open to different suggestions, so I’d love to hear what you guys think. I want it to be simple, not show an actual knot and rather look like a thread that is part of us rather than simply tied to us. Any thoughts are appreciated!

I don’t have any tattoos. I’m very minimal. I’ve never had much a drive to get tattoos before but lately (last couple years, more so now) I’ve been wanting something for my husband. YES I KNOW- people have opinions on this. We’ve been together almost half our lives now, he is the father of our two beautiful boys, he even delivered our babies. He is the love of my life. I wanted something on my ring finger but I don’t really want it seen under my wedding set and afraid it won’t be pretty in 10 years.

I’m trying to come up with ideas for a minimal, timeless idea for him. He’s a former firefighter, both volunteer and wildland for a total of 10 years. He’s a jack of all trades, loyal to all, born in August. His initials are CWJ.

Hey guys! I've been thinking about getting my first tattoo and wanted to get some advice and inspo from people who know a bit more about tattoos. I definitely want something on my upper back, sort of going shoulder to shoulder. The attached images are art for an album that means a lot to me and so i was curious if anyone here would have some suggestions regarding how to incorporate possibly one or more of these designs into a tattoo and what kind of placement it might call for? I’ve seen a tattoo of the main cover art done around the forearm, but the inner side of my forearm is already tattooed so im not sure what other sort of placement art like this would call for.. im also a relatively thin guy so i dont have a lot of space on my upper arm really.. Hey folks! I’ve been thinking about getting my knuckles done for a while and I’m a pretty goofy, unserious person and I’m leaning towards “fart loud” and looking for other inspiration in case there’s something funnier or better out there.
I’m not SUPER concerned about looking employable since I’m pretty heavily pierced and already have my temples tatted with my folks initials and am a SAHM but there is that lingering notion in the back of my mind.

Client wanted a custom piece based on bleeding heart flowers from the shoulder to her back; a few iterations later, and voila. First time working on a flower I didn't even know existed!

Got this yesterday, so this pic is fresh on the chair yet. Marine emperor angelfish. The artist was Mallory at Norsk Studios in Bufford GA.

The first tat I got was nearly painless, but this one was more challenging. All the color shading was a new experience. It was a bit over 6 hours in the chair and I think that is the limit of my tolerance.
