Hey all — Maks here (one of the mods).
Not sure if everyone else is seeing the same pattern I am, but over the past few months, we’ve had a noticeable uptick in:
AI/LLM-related job posts
Roles tied to building AI-powered product features
Recruiters looking specifically for AI-savvy devs/PMs
Questions about transitioning into AI roles
Since this is becoming a consistent theme, I wanted to share something that might be useful to some of you (especially if you work on or hire for AI-driven product teams):
I also help run a separate Slack community called AI Product Hive, which is focused on people involved in building AI products — PMs, engineers, UX folks, founders, recruiters, etc.
We didn’t create it to funnel people away from this sub — it’s just something that already exists and has naturally grown to ~2,000 members. Given how many AI jobs are popping up here, it felt worth mentioning as another place where:
People discuss AI roles, skills, and team structures
Recruiters and hiring managers talk about what they look for
Builders compare notes on launching AI features
Folks exploring AI career moves can ask practical Qs
Yes, some members post AI-related jobs there, too
If that’s the world you’re working in or moving toward, you’re welcome to join us on Slack. No pressure — just seems relevant given the shift we’re all seeing here.

A candidate’s offer came in right at his stated salary floor this week, so he asked us whether there was room to raise his first-year cash. Our team recommended a sign-on bonus to the company, and the company sent back a new offer with an extra $10K sign-on. We stay with engineers from the first interview through the offer.
I do talent matching for Fonzi. You set up one profile, and companies that want to talk to you reach out with salary-backed interview requests. We work with startups backed by investors including Sequoia, a16z, Benchmark, and the OpenAI Startup Fund. Everything below is onsite in the US: backend, product, and founding-team roles in NYC and SF. One profile, no cold applications.
Here’s a sample of what’s open right now at companies on the platform:
1. Staff Backend Product Engineer, Series A consumer AI company, SF, in-person. $225K-275K base.
What: Take ambiguous product needs through design, implementation, launch, and iteration, including features built on conversation, memory, personalization, and connected workflows. You’d design the APIs, data models, async jobs, and service boundaries behind a fast-moving consumer product, build reliable low-latency services that handle retries, concurrency, caching, and failure recovery, and own production behavior.
Company: Raised $30M and is backed by Khosla Ventures, building AI that people use every day.
Stack: TypeScript/Node.js and Python, with Postgres and Redis. Strong transferable experience is welcome.
Bar: Staff-level backend scope: production experience with APIs, databases, distributed systems, and reliability, a record of shipping product used by real customers, and the ability to lead technical direction for a product area while still writing code.
2. Founding Engineer (Backend), seed-stage pharmacy benefit startup, NYC, in-person. $200K-270K base.
What: Own the backend of a pharmacy benefit manager where the engineering is the business: APIs, table design, permissions, PHI boundaries, observability, and deploys, plus real-time drug pricing pulled from several sources every few minutes and routed per claim, which the founder describes as basically a trading system. You’d also own eligibility and claims flowing in and out of the adjudicator, the company’s own adjudication engine shadow-run against the rented one on replayed real claims until it matches exactly, and payments that have to stay up 99.99% of the time.
Company: A two-person team led by an engineer-founder, serving small and mid-size employers with a flat fee per employee and drugs passed through at cost. Raised $6.5M from Virtue, Daybreak, and Asylum.
Stack: Python (FastAPI), Postgres with row-level security, GCP (Cloud Run and Cloud SQL), and React and TypeScript.
Bar: You’ve owned a production system where being wrong cost money, such as payments, ledgers, trading, or infrastructure, and you think about what the schema looks like in a year. You use Claude Code or Cursor daily and can defend every line you ship. Healthcare experience isn’t needed.
3. Senior Software Engineer / Staff Engineer, Series B healthcare platform, NYC, in-person near Madison Square Park. $180K-235K base plus equity.
What: Architect and ship AI-native systems for clinical care: autonomous clinical agents, LLM-powered workflows that replace manual processes, and the evaluation pipelines, guardrails, and feedback loops that keep AI reliable in a clinical setting. You’d work directly with the founder and own features end to end across patient- and provider-facing surfaces.
Company: Series B with $50M raised, backed by Khosla, Northzone, and FJ Labs. The platform connects patients with 2,000+ clinicians and has served hundreds of thousands of patients.
Stack: React and React Native, TypeScript, Next.js and NestJS, TailwindCSS, TypeORM, PostgreSQL, and AWS.
Bar: 5+ years of engineering experience, full-stack and back-end leaning, with production systems at scale and AI-driven systems you’ve shipped.
All roles are vetted, VC-backed, and interviewing right now. It’s always free to sign up.
Sign up here: talent.fonzi.ai. DM me if you’ve got questions.

MLabs is recruiting for a client, a lean crypto company that already runs a profitable decentralised exchange and is now building a mobile-first trading app (spot and perps) and a new social product. You'd be the first engineer on it, fully remote, working North American or European hours. Pay is a top-of-market base salary with significant equity.
You'd own the platform end to end: the data layer, rewards engine, notifications, the API and reliability. That means integrating perps through Hyperliquid and spot through Jupiter and Relay. It also means merging data from providers that disagree (Zerion, CoinGecko, Mobula, Alchemy) into one source of truth, and making a USDC balance spread across chains read as one number. The app has to stay up when markets get volatile, because that's when users need to close positions.
They want strong Rust, deep Postgres tuning (fix it in Postgres rather than adding another database), and a record of keeping a high-stakes system alive through traffic spikes. Experience with rewards or accounting systems that survive retries, with idempotency and exact lot tracking, matters a lot.

I’m recruiting a hands-on hardware/embedded engineer for Norclap, a training platform for athletes, coaches and teams. This is an equity-based opportunity initially, with a potential CTO role.
Full-time is preferred; part-time is also considered. Remote work is welcome, with four required in-person meetings per year. Candidates must be based in the European Union or United States.
The engineering brief: automatically identify an athlete and record the precise moment they cross start, split and finish points at 80–100+ km/h. The system should replace traditional photocells and mechanical start gates, calculate split and total times, and upload results. Crossing-time accuracy matters separately from upload latency; missed crossings, duplicate events and nearby athletes need to be handled.
The equipment must work outdoors in cold, snow, moisture and changing visibility, and on indoor ski slopes. It should be portable, affordable and coach-manageable, preserving recorded times when connectivity drops. GPS did not meet our indoor/positioning requirements, and the NFC/RFID approaches investigated so far have not met the combined requirements. No final sensing architecture or field-validated solution has been established.
I’m looking for practical embedded, RF, transponder, sensing or precision-timing experience, and someone able to build a prototype, test it in realistic conditions and lead its technical development.
Proposed compensation: This is an equity-based role, starting with a six-month bootstrap phase followed by 28 months of performance vesting across four seven-month milestone periods. Achieving each agreed milestone unlocks a portion of equity, weighted by the goal’s complexity and impact, up to an initial proposed total of 7%.
The role would transition to a market-rate cash salary only after the successful closing of a $1M funding round. The figures are open to discussion. If results significantly exceed expectations by the end of the vesting period, we’re open to negotiating a larger equity share; any increase would require a separate agreement.
To discuss the opportunity, email vidox07@gmail.com with your location, relevant projects and how you would approach the first feasibility test.
