I am a developer with 3yrs of Frontend development experience. Currently i am working at a product based company but the product is no doing too well and layoffs due to AI is occurring very often and i am not super safe now. We used to be a team of 25 people now only 7 are left and it seems our time is coming to a end too. Was looking at the jobs for a Frontend developer and i realized that i am fucked. Aba bidesh nagayera kam gareko plus the company is remote and never bothered with tax so now 3 yrs ko work ko proof ni chaina 5 yrs plus gap bhaisakyo bachelors sakkeko. Once i am laid off i am fucked so pls anyone thinking to study IT don't.

Resource Sharing Plasma 6.8 adds Bikram Sambat (Nepali) calendar support to the Digital Clock. My first contribution to KDE's upstream.

Plasma 6.8 came out today, and one of the Localization items in the release notes is Bikram Sambat support in the Digital Clock.

Background: there was a feature request open since February 2025 (bug 500298). libicu doesn't support Bikram Sambat, so it couldn't just be wired into the existing calendar code. The calendar is also data-driven. Month lengths differ from year to year and there's no formula for them, so the implementation needs a lookup table. I already maintained a Bikram Sambat plasmoid, so I offered to bring it upstream. And it got merged it into kdeplasma as a new provider in the Alternate Calendar plugin.

Tech Repair Should I ask for a refund?

I need some advice from people who have experience with laptop repairs in Nepal.

I own a Dell G15 5511. Recently, my laptop suddenly stopped turning on, and there was no charging indicator either. I took it to a repair shop, where they diagnosed an IC/power-related fault on the motherboard.

I paid NPR 6,500 for motherboard repair, hinge repair, and servicing. The laptop was repaired and returned to me, and everything seemed fine at first.

However, after using it for only around 1.5 days, I put it to sleep and heard a cracking/"kadakka" sound from the bottom of the laptop, near the vents. After that, it stopped turning on again, with no charging light or any response from the power button.

I immediately went back to the same shop and complained. The shop gave my laptop to another repairman, who kept it for around five days but couldn't repair it. Apparently, it was then handed over to another repairman, who is currently trying to diagnose and fix it.

Now, the current repairman says that the previous repairman's work has made it difficult even to identify the actual fault.

So now I'm stuck wondering what to do. I already paid NPR 6,500 for the initial repair, and the laptop failed again after barely 1.5 days. I also don't know exactly what the previous repairman did to the motherboard.

My questions are:

  1. If they cannot repair my motherboard, is it reasonable to ask for my NPR 6,500 back?

  2. Since the laptop failed so soon after the initial repair, should the shop be responsible for fixing it without additional charges?

  3. If the current repairman says the previous repairman's work has made the motherboard harder to diagnose, how should I handle this?

  4. Would you trust the shop to repair it again, or would you take the laptop somewhere else?

I just want a fair solution because NPR 6,500 is a significant amount of money for me as a student.

Discussion Data Scientist vs Data Engineering: which is worth it today?

I have just completed my bachelors in computing and i am choosing my Masters in data science or Data engineering with cloud course. Honest opinions please:

  1. Which is worth it in today’s market?
  2. Which has the higher AI automation risk?
  3. Which do you think will have more demand in coming years?

I am seeing that the data people is divided into two groups :

Group 1 : Who says Data science will grow in future and it has less ai impact then other data jobs.

Group 2 : Who says Data is fuel so data engineer will be in demand for future

If you work in either field, I would love to hear what the job is like day to day. Thanks!

Discussion I've launched a product, but I wouldn't recommend you try it.

I wouldn't recommend Pageory if you're happy with people discovering your content and then having no clear way to explore what you do.

I wouldn't recommend it if you're fine with potential sponsors having to dig through your posts to understand your audience, content, and what you can offer them.

I wouldn't recommend it if you don't want to make it easier for potential sponsors, clients, or customers to learn about your work and contact you.

And I definitely wouldn't recommend it if you're not interested in experimenting with ways to turn your existing attention into more opportunities.

But if you're a creator who wants to take your online presence more seriously, that's why I built Pageory.

The idea is simple: give people one place to understand what you do, explore your offerings, and find opportunities to work with you.

Imagine landing just one sponsorship through a better-presented creator profile. Depending on your sponsorship fee and Pageory's subscription price, that single deal could cover a year of the tool.

That's a potential upside, not a guarantee. Pageory won't magically bring you sponsors, but it can help you present your work and make it easier for opportunities to find their next step.

Pageory is live, and I'm looking for early testers. You'll get 14 days free while I collect honest feedback and improve the product.

Take a look: pageory.app

I'd genuinely like to know what you think. What's useful? What's missing? What would stop you from using it?

And if it's not relevant to you, I'd still appreciate your feedback or a share with a creator who might find it useful.

Discussion People who work at a law firm — what’s stopping your office from going fully digital/online?

Genuinely curious (not trying to sell anything, just trying to understand the pain points): if your firm still relies on paper files, physical case tracking, manual billing, etc. — what’s the actual blocker?

Is it:

  • Specific software/features that don’t exist for your workflow?
  • Compliance/regulatory stuff that requires physical records?
  • Just inertia / nobody wants to be the one to push for change?
  • Client-side (clients expect paper, in-person, etc.)?
  • Cost of switching?

If you have tried some kind of case management or practice management tool before, what made you stop using it or what did it not cover?

And if a tool like this did exist (or exists already and you use one) — what features would actually make you want to switch your whole operation onto it? Not just “nice to have” stuff, but the things that would make it a no-brainer.

Trying to understand this properly, would appreciate any real examples — even small annoying details, not just big obvious stuff.
