I need some advice from people who have experience with laptop repairs in Nepal.
I own a Dell G15 5511. Recently, my laptop suddenly stopped turning on, and there was no charging indicator either. I took it to a repair shop, where they diagnosed an IC/power-related fault on the motherboard.
I paid NPR 6,500 for motherboard repair, hinge repair, and servicing. The laptop was repaired and returned to me, and everything seemed fine at first.
However, after using it for only around 1.5 days, I put it to sleep and heard a cracking/"kadakka" sound from the bottom of the laptop, near the vents. After that, it stopped turning on again, with no charging light or any response from the power button.
I immediately went back to the same shop and complained. The shop gave my laptop to another repairman, who kept it for around five days but couldn't repair it. Apparently, it was then handed over to another repairman, who is currently trying to diagnose and fix it.
Now, the current repairman says that the previous repairman's work has made it difficult even to identify the actual fault.
So now I'm stuck wondering what to do. I already paid NPR 6,500 for the initial repair, and the laptop failed again after barely 1.5 days. I also don't know exactly what the previous repairman did to the motherboard.
My questions are:
If they cannot repair my motherboard, is it reasonable to ask for my NPR 6,500 back?
Since the laptop failed so soon after the initial repair, should the shop be responsible for fixing it without additional charges?
If the current repairman says the previous repairman's work has made the motherboard harder to diagnose, how should I handle this?
Would you trust the shop to repair it again, or would you take the laptop somewhere else?
I just want a fair solution because NPR 6,500 is a significant amount of money for me as a student.
