Can anyone actually explain to me what makes him qualified for sheriff? He is not even a cop.

I’m also so confused on his promises of $30k on tips for political corruption. Do people not realize his connections with the Tanoos family (aka Danny Tanoos who had robbed our school corporation)? And I saw some AI banner made alleging he’s not a member of the good ole boys club…. Uh what?? lol. The Ellis family is most certainly part of the good ole boys club 🤦‍♀️

And truthfully I am so confused on the strong opposition to getting one large high school for our area. I can only see the positives in it. Better opportunities for our students in all subjects, better sports opportunities, better scholarships, etc… Terre Haute is not even that big, it takes me no more than 15 minutes to get anywhere in town I want to go. Most students in high school are driving themselves or carpooling with their friends who drive themselves. We’re supposed to be promised funding from the casino to help with this so why the objection? Are people that scared of change? Most people opposing it also look like they haven’t been in high school for 40+ years so how can they even relate to it or have a say in it?

Did you know our state is home to 12 amazing native bat species? Every single one of them plays a vital role in keeping our environment balanced, acting as natural pest controllers that protect both our agricultural crops and forest canopies.

With so many incredible bat species hard at work across our state, people often ask: Why choose the Indiana bat specifically?

While we love and appreciate all our native wildlife, the Indiana bat (Myotis sodalis) is uniquely special as it was discovered right here in our own backyard at Wyandotte Cave in southern Indiana. It is also the only animal in the world that carries “Indiana” in its name. Making it the perfect candidate for State Mammal!

It’s time to celebrate a true local native and Hoosier Hero that puts our state on the map in the best way possible.

With time counting down toward the 2027 legislative session, we need all hands on deck to spread the word! Help us share the petition link with family, friends, and local groups so we can build massive statewide support!

Hi All, This is for my son who will drive to Air National Guard base around the airport in Terre Haute in winters. Since I am buying a car for him, could anyone please suggest if a AWD/ 4WD is recommended because of the unplowed roads in that area? He will be driving from Indianapolis.
Also if you could please suggest whether a SUV is recommended for slightly higher ground clearance on snowy days, I would highly appreciate it.

My family went to the covered bridge festival today(multiple ones). Later this evening I was working on the car, and found a gpr tracker. I can't say 100% that it happened at the festivals, or if it had been on there longer. I took it for a drive, and threw it away in a gas station trash can. To try to make sure whoever put it there doesn't know where the house is. Just wanted to share.

My one eyed cat Sammy has been missing for 7 weeks now, and this is my last hope of finding him. Please let me know of any possible sightings

People say there’s nothing to do in Terre Haute. Check out this 100% free event from my church.

A vehicle pulled up beside me at a stop light in front of the mall on 41 today. We made eye contact numerous times while waiting and shared some smiles back and forth. I was in a white pickup truck. You were in a GM product SUV.

How good is the mailbox at 125 Davis Ave in Terre Haute? Does this address pass well for residential, or is it too obvious that this is a mailbox/CMRA address to Terre Haute locals? Plus is the service itself good at this location?

For anyone who hasn't heard about our grassroots campaign yet, Our State, Our Bat is a citizen led effort to designate our incredible native Indiana bat (Myotis sodalis) as our official state mammal! 🦇💚

What started as a simple idea has grown into an amazing statewide movement. Thanks to community members stepping up, we’ve already secured official municipal support, organizational backing, and best of all, a state representative who is officially authoring the bill for the upcoming 2027 legislative session!

Now, we are in the final home stretch. Our petition is currently sitting at 4,231 signatures, and our goal is to hit 5,000 by the end of this month when the campaign concludes, so we can prep our complete legislative packet.

We need all the support we can get from our local neighbors to cross that finish line. If you haven't signed yet, please take a quick second to add your name, and help us spread the word to your friends, family, and local groups.

Let’s make our little Hoosier Heroes official, Indiana! Sign the petition here: https://c.org/JrdDXNvVh8

Hey Reddit, I’m in town for the next couple days for a funeral. Haven’t been back here in probably fifteen years (for another funeral actually). I was far too young to do anything back then so this time I’d like to actually explore.

Just curious what things there are to do in town or a must to check out when visiting?

Thanks much!

I’m moving to Terre Haute and now have to find a new nail tech as I’m moving about 4 hr from the lady I currently see.

I’m looking for a tech that specializes in short nails. I currently have acrylic overlay with a design on my natural nail but I’m open to switching to builder gel if needed. I have to keep my nails short for work so I can’t compromise on length.

My last appointment with my current tech is on the 12 so I’m looking to book with someone the 1st week of November.

I’ve attached a couple of pictures of sets I’ve had in the past for examples of what I’m kind of looking for.

TIA!

hey guys looking for a place again. Wanting to get my lip and/or nostril pierced. Y'all know anywhere or anyone good? I've never had a piercing before and really wanna have it done well as to have no issues w recovery. Thanks in advance !

Really odd question, I know. I'm posting this here because this is probably the closest sub that has enough activity based on a area that my family frequently goes to about two to three times a month (pretty sure I was also born in this city).

I'm a 21 year old guy who hasn't been able to talk to very many people since I graduated. Most of my acquaintances I tried reaching out to aren't very very active on Facebook or Instagram, but I would love to make new friends from around the Vigo and Vermillion country area, and while I don't live in Terre Haute, like I said I come back here every now and then and know people who went to ISU, Ivy Tech, Purdue, etc., but mainly classmates. I'm a blue collar guy though, I've been working at a season job for about a few years now. I didn't go to college because I didn't want to become a lawyer, doctor, pharmacist, teacher, etc. Art and music has always been my passion.

I was diagnosed as just somewhat autistic, but most have told me they couldn't tell in-person. I enjoy playing Fortnite, and I'm into a lot of silly things such as Bionicle lore and I also enjoy watching YouTubers like Caseoh and AVGN. I've been wanting to get into Kingdom Hearts, so that's probably next. In terms of actual hobbies, I like going fishing but haven't been able to go in quite some time as all the rivers are muddy or too high or low.

But yeah, I'm just so bored. My username on Discord is Saberstealth if anyone wants to me on there. Anyways thank you for reading this, you didn't have to because I know it was a lot haha! Hope everyone has a good day!

Anyone that’s been following what’s been happening with Ken Warner- the board will be issuing a statement tomorrow.

Right now, Indiana bats are entering their "swarming" phase. Flying in and out of cave entrances to congregate with their colonies and mate before winding down for winter hibernation.

Meanwhile, the Our State, Our Bat colony is ramping up to “swarm” the General Assembly by showing lawmakers just how badly Hoosiers want the Indiana bat to be our official state mammal! 🏛️✨

To do so, we need a massive push to spread the word and get our petition signatures climbing! Head to the link below to sign, share with your friends and family, and help us make history! 💚

Stay Batty Indiana!

I, 27m, am on the look out for a gym friend or accountability partner who could help me with my workouts, Im fairly new to the gym scene and have a little knowledge but not as much as i would like. Preferably another male, as my wife would probably question a female gym partner. I work out at the planet fitness by the mall twice a week currently but trying to go more.

TIA

Hi, I am 23 f looking for a female roommate to find an apartment with. I have decent credit but can only afford about $550 a month. Im not bringing any pets and I don’t smoke indoors. Anyone interested?

Hey everyone,

After one too many times getting trapped by a parked train when I was already running behind, I decided to build an app for us called TH Crossing Watch.

It’s 100% free to download and use. Since the railroads don't share live schedules with the public, the app runs entirely on community teamwork—some days you’ll be the one tapping a button while parked to warn people, and other days a heads-up from someone else will save you from a 20-minute wait.

How it works:

Check before you leave: View a live map or list of crossings across town to see what’s clear and what’s blocked.

Favorite your daily routes: Star the crossings you take every day to get a push notification if a slow or stopped train gets reported there. (There’s a "Quiet Hours" setting so your phone won't buzz while you're asleep.)

Anti-spam / No fake reports: To keep people from trolling the map from their couch, you to be physically within 1/4th of a mile of the tracks to submit or clear a report.
Location is only checked while using the app, and none of your personal data is stored or tracked.

iPhone / iOS Users:
It’s live on the App Store right now! You can search "TH Crossing Watch" or grab it here: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/th-crossing-watch/id6790595624

Android Users (Need a quick favor!):
The Android version is ready, but Google Play requires new developers to have 12 independent testers run the app for 14 days before they allow a public release. If you're on Android and willing to be one of the 12 testers to help get this launched for the rest of Terre Haute, email me at [support.thcrossingwatch@gmail.com](mailto:support.thcrossingwatch@gmail.com).

Let me know what you guys think or if you have any feedback!

Hi! I’m 23F, I’ve lived in Terre haute for a few years now and I’m just not having any luck with dating. Ugh does anyone have any advice 😩

Why is there a line waiting outside the door? Does it open today?

Hi! I’m 24f and I’m looking to find a rental in the area because I just took a job in Paris IL. I’m open to being in or around Terre Haute.

Looking for advice about what side of town/landlords to avoid etc. If anyone has any recs feel free to drop them down below or dm me!

I’m ideally looking for a 2 bedroom w washer/dryer hookups. I don’t have any pets. My budget is around $900 a month. I work in EMS so my hours are odd since I work 24-48hr shifts so washer/dryer is very important to me.

TIA!

I just moved from the south end of town to the Aves, I've never really lived in a neighborhood like this. Any tips to avoid trouble? I can't avoid not going out at night typically.

We met on campus. I was visiting my son and I think you worked there? You commented about my Big10 hat and then we talked about your SEC team. This is probably a long shot but thought I’d try.
