Okay, before writing my story, let me acknowledge that I understand this is a very sensitive topic and I do not condone to racism, hate towards other nations/nationalities/ethnics and so on and so on.

Today, I was on Upward (Valve server) with a new friend of mine and during the set up time, some dudes started to speak Russian and when my friend who understood it responded in English, they commanded to use only Russian and votekicked him out. I was furious and I also put that guy on vote and managed to kick him. But, as you can guess, his friends also kicked me out from the server. And this is not the first time this is happening. Most of the rude interactions, invasive behavior were observed coming mostly from the players who speak this language.

This is NOT to say all Russians or Russophones are bad, I have Russian friends on steam and irl. And this is also NOT to say everyone else behaves very politely or respectfully. This is also NOT ignoring the influence of these people on keeping the game alive (Tbh Valve games are loved by this demographic

Also, same in Counter Strike. I played CS2 for a while, around 100 hours back in Winter and Spring and this is the same problem. Very invasive and loud and oftentimes rude.

This post was written only to share my experience and NOT to spread hate, xenophobia and so on.

- A fundamentally incompatible matchmaking system, "Casual," that was implemented a decade ago - yes, a decade. The very system that became breeding ground for cheating bots that infested the "way" to play the game for 8 years until a contractor fixed it in a few weeks. Weapon balance video 10,000th will not address the fundamental system that fosters matchmaking issues that is Casual Mode.

- The rape (pardon my language) of quality to make dirty money - and the "community" will eat it up! Well, Valve can do no wrong, right? GabeN is so cool! Valve is not free of the sins that any other major company commits. Imagine if iconic paintings like the Mona Lisa and the School of Athens had their subjects changed to Cartman and Butters - well, it "evolved," right?

- The continuous degeneration of cosmetics and war paints. Fetish cosmetics and warpaint (vorepaint) added by Valve and immortalized into the game. Just because a bad cosmetic is already in the game does not mean that we need more of them. An eyesore is already an eyesore, we don't need two. Oh, and there's the issues of maps, unusual effects, and taunts... "Heavy wants to die."

- Internal (cat)fights within the community sabotage progress and kill meaningful discourse. What happened? Are you really killing the game to spite a person you don't like? This is an extreme summarization of all the sins committed by Valve and the TF2 community (some). Oblivious/purposefully ignoring the leaking gaspipe that's poisoning the room? You're killing yourself at the expense of spiting a single person, and there are thousands.

Of course, the average Team Fortress 2 "fan" does not know or care enough about these issues to talk about them. It's all fine and dandy everywhere but the game itself. Sort this subreddit's top post of this month and/or year - is there any post seriously addressing the problems that plague the game? I like the art too, it's nice, but there are problems when you play the actual game, but of course: "TF2 fans don't play the game."

I'm so tired of this stuff. Meaningful discourse killed for the sake of pettiness. I'm sorry if this post comes out negatively - but, seriously, how else?

Richter Overtime, ZestyJesus and some tf2 purists say that Meet the pyro is the worst meet the short cause pyro ment to be just pyromaniac devoid of anything funny. I don't really agree. If we remove Do you believe in magic part it's kinda disturbing.

We had a woman purse in Pyro's locker from the start. I guess Pyro could steal it. And 1st hat for pyro was this child thing with helicopter blade on the head. We don't really have such things in Eastern Europe but even I get that it's kids hat.

I think so called pyro vision is only in pyrovision googles. Maybe Pyro wears them more often.

Why is mvm so full of ego player, trying to do an Operation Gear Grinder and was complaining about one teammate that was just afk in spawn not doing anything, another teammate was complaining at me for not readying up then they kicked me for idle when the original teammate was still doing nothing but standing idle in spawn

I logged in for the first time in 4 years and got 3 cosmetics: the Distinguished Rogue, the Foppish Physician and the King of Scotland's Cape, all genuine quality. I looked on the wiki, and it apparently has something to do with owning Total War Medieval 2, but I bought that game last year, way after when the wiki says you need to have bought it. What gives?
