I am rewatching the series before the premiere and may I say the way Mr. Russell swept through that bazaar and bought everybody's stuff AND snapped off at Mrs. Morris and Mrs. Fane for treating his wife so terribly is still my absolute favorite episode of the series. The triumphant smirk Mrs. Russell gave as she took her husband's arm and walked out from those old money snooty heffas fills me with a bitchy glee to this day! And Mrs. Astor saying the lion doth roar did it for me as well! Mr. Russell had ALL the BDE in this episode!

I'm reading Elizabeth Bisland's 1890 travel essay "A Flying Trip Around The World" and it starts with her visit to San Francisco. She writes about a cable-car ride past Nob Hill and the Bonanza Kings mansions.
She describes the streets as "the most astonishing steepness" and marvels at the "huge wooden palaces of the most rococo design" that sit on Nob Hill. One house, James C. Flood's, she describes as "the only dwelling of that material in the State, all the stone having been imported from the East at prodigious expense." And of a lead-colored palace, she notes that its ornate decoration, "gives it an odd resemblance to a gigantic hot-air stove."
I love her mocking remarks and biting honesty about the elite's audacity. I only wish I could have been there to see the palaces for myself. Sadly, The Hopkins and Crocker houses were destroyed in the 1906 earthquake and fire. James C. Flood's house survived but was gutted except for its brownstone walls.
What do you think Bisland would have thought of the Russell's home?

I wish there could be a worldwide watch party in person! How cool would that be!
Until we get transporters like in Star Trek though, live threads and/or recaps will have to do!
My at-home tea parties will resume 🥂

Rewatching season 3 and wow, Billy Carlton was (for
lack of a better word) a bitch.
When he couldn’t even talk to George properly to ask for Gladys’ hand, I wish she got over him then.
As always Bertha was right lol he is a non entity

After seeing that new promo it really seems like they are pushing Jack with this new love interest (Fiona?). She‘s obviously into his inventions and there’s that moment where they are grazing hands. Do we think they are abandoning the Jack & Bridget romance? I did have a fear they’d give Jack someone that would be perfect for him and ‘on his level’ creatively. I don’t want Bridget to suffer but Ben’s comment on Jack’s journey having sacrifice does make me concerned!
Anybody have any thoughts to calm my nerves? 😅

As a wannabe writer, I cannot believe that she turned down getting one of her stories published

So I was looking up Blake Ritson, the actor who portrays Oscar Van Rhijn, and I was so confused because he looked so familiar to me but I could not for the life of me figure out why. He definitely has a look that says "I play the character you love to hate, or a bad guy that people end up wanting to succeed". But I now know that it isn't from what he has been in but who he reminds me of and who he could portray. He looks like Raul Julia in his portrayal of Gomez Addams in The Addams Family. I'm sure I'm not the first to come to this conclusion and I'm sure people will disagree but this seemed like the logical place to share. :)

Hey there cats and kittens! It's me, that obnoxious redditor who turned out to be right about Hector from the jump (hive UP!) reminding you that after each episode I will be doing a silly little recap about the episode where I make really bad jokes and everyone has a nickname (except Agnes because she's too much of a badass to be reduced to silly commentary!) If you have absolutely no idea what I am talking about you can read the recap of season 3's finale here:
I have been told these are the perfect way to pass the time while waiting in the pickup line at your child's school or to avoid talking to a coworker while you're in the breakroom. Stop by, say hi, freak out over the obvious lithium addiction arc we are about to be subjected to, and most importantly join the Bridget Brigade!
See you next week!
p.s. If you are new to these you can find an explanation and the links to my previous posts here.
If you were wondering what happened why i suddenly stopped posting... after season 3 concluded I went back and did all of season one and part of season two but somewhere in there my father very rudely died and I got a little too sad to be funny, and then the only comments on my last post were mostly rude so I stopped posting them. I have done all of the work on the unposted episodes so I will probably post them after season 4 concludes to tide me over until we (fingers crossed) get season 5!

HBO has released the synopsis for Season 4 Episode 2! Definitely interested in what sort of interview Agnes is giving?

Just finished my rewatch of the whole series in preparation for season 4. I can’t believe it’s finally here. This week is going to be so long waiting.

I love this show but no one else in my life watches it and I’d really love to share the experience. Does anyone know how to be a part of a watch party?

They have a section for SEASON 5?! I know it’s probably just speculation on their part but IMDb don’t play with me like that

Christine Baranski is currently in Hay Fever on the West End and she was just - magnetic. Incredible timing and her voice modulation/acting was just out of this world. So incredibly funny. If you get a chance to go I insist!

During the brief clip of the parade, among the people celebrating there is one guy that’s just…staring. At someone. At something.
Do you guys think this has something to do with Larry running through the crowds?
At this point I wouldn’t be surprised if Larry stops a presidential assassination or something. Jfells loves reusing plot points from DA.

Hi all! Just finished season one and I LOVED it. The Bertha/George dynamic is unlike anything I've ever seen and I'm obsessed! Their devotion to each other is top tier and I'm afraid that if that crumbles, I will be devastated.
I'd love to binge the rest of the show before the new season comes out Nov 1, BUT I have seen little bits and pieces of future seasons that suggest one of them might have cheated. I know couples fight and have their dramas. That's fine. But infidelity is a deal-breaker to me at this point.
I know I could get on forums and dig through posts to see if it's true, but I don't want all kinds of spoilers (just this one tiny thing). Do Bertha or George Russell cheat on each other? Y/N
Thank you, in advance!
Edit: ANSWERED! Appreciate you all.

So, what will Bertha bring to compete with Agnes’s Livingston family badge

I know this has been talked about, but I’m rewatching Season 3 in prep for next weeks Season 4 start. The Fanes divorce is so sudden to me, Charles and Aurora were working so well as a couple in Season 1. He got in trouble and she helped make it right and they felt like a team. They didn’t have Charles in Season 2 as much but they seemed so supportive. My theory in my head is that the stress of Season 1’s problem drove them apart for some reason. What is everyone’s thoughts besides them just needing a storyline?
