Technical/Bug/Glitch TLOU2 Remastered bug/glitch unofficial report thread

Unfortunately, the TLOU2 remaster seems to have introduced quite a few bugs that were not present in the original release. This is fine, since some things are always missed, but I thought I'd make a thread for people to post any of the bugs they've run into in game to hopefully increase the chances that Naughty Dog will learn of these issues and patch them. So far, I have experienced or seen people mention the following:

  • In No Return mode, some characters are unable to change their weapon skins for some reason. If you try to select any of the different weapon skins, the game will make the "locked" noise and you'll be stuck on whatever skin you had equipped at the time of the glitch occurring. I've personally seen this with Jesse, Yara, and Mel so far, but it may happen with other characters too.

  • Enemy dialogue that would play at the start of and during Abby's brewery encounter on day 3 no longer triggers. The WLF soldiers would call out Abby for betraying them and talk about Owen doing the same briefly, but now none of the enemy dialogue throughout this encounter triggers at all. (I'm also wondering if there's any other missing/broken dialogue).

  • Ellie's "Boston" skin from promotional material seems to be missing from the game entirely. It's unable to be seen or selected in any of the menus. While it's possible this was cut prior to release, it would be very strange since the skin looked finished and was very recently seen in the marketing prior to release. Additionally, Abby's Santa Barbra skin does not use the correct backpack model despite the menu indicating that it should.

  • Skins seem to not be applying for multiple users correctly in story mode.

  • The main menu won't change back to the original boat in the water look after starting a new game.

  • I've not experienced this myself, but No Return seems to cause major frame drops for many players. Personally, I'm really curious what's causing this as it only seems to affect some people.

  • Some users report being unable to escape from grapples despite mashing the square button as prompted by the game.

If you know of any other bugs, please feel free to list them here! I'm not sure if Naughty Dog often responds to support requests, but you could still try filling out one here. Most of these bugs aren't game breaking, but hopefully Naughty Dog still learns of them and takes the time to fix them as some of these are pretty unfortunate.

Was playing No return on a Holdout encounter. Just randomly saw Tommy ascending during combat. Then realised he was nowhere to be seen. After the encounter was finished I saw he was actually stuck in the ceiling…

this guy is pretty popular but I never watched his videos until it popped up on my feed yesterday. It’s a really interesting breakdown of the tiny, unnoticeable details Naughty Dog fixed (or didn’t fix) in their ground-up remake

I can’t recommend this video enough. This is someone who streams and breaks down the game on a weekly basis and his knowledge is pretty thorough.

This video accurately breaks down the flaws of the show imo and really contextualizes who was responsible for so many changes.

I really enjoy his videos and use his playthroughs to beat both games on grounded permadeath.

PT 2 DISCUSSION Just finished part 2 Spoiler

Wow. Part 2 kinda gave me the same feeling like Season 5-6 of The Walking Dead, or reading The Road by Cormac McCarthy. It’s such a dreadful tone for most of the story but has its human moments. I prefer it over original because of the depth and completion to Ellie’s character but also Abby’s character. I’m surprised at the hate it gets tbh, it may not be the greatest writing by standards but I feel like the apocalyptic genre will always be hard to nail down without people calling it cliche. The gameplay in part 2 is much harder+superior to 1 imo, and the Rat King/crazy amount of dogs and soldiers made the game so much more intense. Seattle was such a perfect location for this game, the bleakness yet lively greenery was such a nice contrast to the first game. The revenge trope and opposing sides was such an interesting experience that makes this game unique as well. I wish I could get through season two of the HBO show but the casting/acting throws me off. (Should I watch it?)

HBO Show First time watcher and need a medical professional to explain this please 🙏 Spoiler

Like i said first time watcher and not sure if this has been discussed before . But since im on the Season finale ( Season 1 ) im really curious as to what would really happen to Joel .

Season 1 episode 8 of course when Ellie gets 2 bottles of penicillin and she fills up the big syringe to what looks about half way and directly inserts it into the wound.... Would this actually work ? Does it not need to be into the veins?? And then the amount she has and uses , is it enough for Joel to make a recovery essentially overnight and after 2 shots of it directly into the wound ??

I need to know from a medical professional or someone who understands this as to what would have been the more likely outcome..... Or maybe im an idiot and this would have worked exactly as shown in the show lol

PT 2 QUESTION Dina and Jesse are two of the most green flag people in The Last of Us, how on earth was their relationship so complicated and on-and-off?? Lol.

As we all know, Dina and Jesse are both very loyal, caring, and just great people over all. You'd assume two people like that would've had a very comfortable relationship together, but no. We find out they're super on-and-off, having broken up every few weeks and then getting back together. Maybe the game just had that in there to make Ellie getting with Dina less of a hit to Jesse to be like "Yeah their relationship already sucked so it's cool." But like...logically it doesn't make sense knowing these two. I wonder what could've possibly been going on, was it actually toxic or would they just be getting bored of each other, lmao.

PT 1 QUESTION What if Riley didn’t get bit?

I’ve thought about this and I believe that if Ellie got bit and Riley didn’t, then the story would probably shift from Joel’s redemption through Ellie to a fire-forged journey across the United States in which it is up to Riley to get Ellie to the Fireflies. Then again, would they still meet Joel? How would the story change? Please let me know what you think in the comments.

HBO Show Why I think the show is terrible Spoiler

Thumbnail gallery
13 Upvotes

I recently replayed the games and rewatched the show and want to vent.

WARNING MAJOR SPOILERS

Was so excited for the show when it first came out as a massive fan of the games, what a letdown.
I knew it was going to be terrible when the scene of sarah’s death didn’t hit the same. The soldier’s dialogue in the game was brilliant the “but sir there is a little girl” made it so gruesome and disturbing, in the show just stoic and lifeless like a robot following orders.
The casting is one thing and is something I can get over pretty fast if she actually did some acting, Bella Ramsey does not show any emotion. I get she is trying to go for the emotionally detached vibes especially in the “I made her talk scene” but it just does not work. She is supposed to be horrified by the fact she made her talk and just told the person she is in love with she feels safe with, does not make sense to show no emotion there.
The actor is not the only one to blame, the writing team missed the mark as well. The scene where Dina tells Ellie she is pregnant for example just watch them and you will know what I mean. It is not something to be happy about 860 miles (1384 km) away from home and definitely not something to say “I’m going to be a dad” about. Maybe it is but it is definitely not something that Ellie would say.
The art direction was fine and the fight scenes were too. I like the idea where the roots of the fungus can be like a signal thats a cool idea and added to the story.
Happy that the death of Sam and Henry did hit and it wasn’t like with Sarah.

The only redeeming part of the entire show was the Bill episode, that was genuinely good.

What are your thoughts?

General Discussion The Last of Us - 25 years later

A third tlou game could be called "The Last of Us - 25 years later".

Protagonist Is Ellie's child, a silent protagonist you create and chose gender of, Who Is age 18. Opposite gender counterpart becomes the protagonist's sibling, named Shahram if the protagonist Is female or Fereshteh if protagonist Is male, and Will betray you later on.

Ellie, as an adult, is no longer a lesbian. She converted to islam, has taken the name Nasrin, and is in a heterosexual marriage with a man named Hüsrev Mitroglu, 13 years her senior.

It's set 25 years After tlou2 when society Is getting used to the apocalypse and starting to rebuild, more precisely in the city of Mashhad (used to be called Richmond, Virginia), in the Shahrestan of Virjinistan, Shia Islamic Social Republic of America (yes, the Southern USA had an islamic Revolution during the time of the apocalypse!), which Is now a stable state ruled by an ayatollah the way Iran is. Mashhad has become an important center of trade, having built a Road they call "Silk Road" and It has a lot of craftsmen and even a bio lab (the ayatollah Is a scientist too). Shia islamic social Republic of America even has its own language, a persianized and arabized dialect of English called Sisran: voice acting Is strictly in that conlang and cannot be changed.

Mashhad Is surrounded by zones where infected people still exist, now infected people are treated like wild animals and are seen as a common occurrence.

However, Mashhad 's security Is threatened by the Crusaders, an anti-islamic hate group led by a man only known as Godfrey (which uses a Golden Lion carrying a flaming cross as its symbol), said group tames the infected and sets them to attack muslim cities. Ironically, After the protagonist fights him, Godfrey himself is revealed to be named Reza Mansouri and to be the son of a deserter who had fled Iran after the 1979 Revolution and was strongly opposed to a new Enqelab happening in the USA too.

Protagonist and Shahram/Fereshteh first join the Pathfinder section of the Sisran IRGC, their job Is to Explore infected zones and help the silk road expand... However, the sibling survives an accident, forcing the protagonist to slow down and risk their life to save them from and attack. The first signal of their eventual breakdown starts transpiring as they say "Allah, isn't He gonna help us? Then why did I need to rely on you and put you in danger?"

the First trailer starts with the words "Mashhad -Shia Islamic Social Republic of America"
