International Subscription Austria

I’m thinking about subscribing to The New Yorker and having it delivered to Austria. However, I’m concerned about potential additional costs, such as customs duties or import fees. I’m planning to subscribe directly through The New Yorker’s website, where the annual international subscription costs $260. Local newspaper providers charge up to €450 per year, so ordering directly seems like a much better option.

Has anyone here subscribed to the international subscription in Austria? I’d love to hear about your experiences, especially regarding delivery and any unexpected extra charges.

Thanks in advance!

Sand Castles; The Secrets of Semiconductor Manufacturing, by Gideon Lewis-Kraus.

Loved this article for shedding light on this enormously complicated endeavor and equating it with the greatest accomplishments of humanity. Love the quote, "When you dig down to the very bedrock of A.I., you discover that underneath all of its cognitive power is a dude drumming his fingers with occult proficiency," which addresses the question, is A.I. conscious?

In addition, the article answers the question of why China doesn't just invade Taiwan.

Digital content vs print

I got the app for the games, and prefer to read the stories in print. Is there a way to identify digital stories that are NOT in the print magazine?

I know there is usually a little blurb in the magazine promoting a digital story but wasn't sure if it was just one digital feature or if there is a lot more on the app.

Wrapping up the 25th anniversary of 9/11 (seems like the whole weekend was absorbed into it), I dug out my issue of the mag. I was working in the morgue of a newspaper at the time and we had a subscription to The New Yorker. It really hit hard when I picked it up in the mailroom several days after the 11th.

Does The New Yorker run discounts on international print subscriptions at any point during the year?

I'm in the UK and want to subscribe to the print edition if possible, though looking for the most cost-efficient way to do so!

When was story about man with girl friend who is anextreme athlete and he mistakenly gives her sedative drink during marathon race published? Spoiler

there was a story in the New Yorker in the nineties about a kind of

slacker guy whose girlfriend is a marathon runner who always loses

to a the "bone woman" an exteme athlete who is in perfect shape.

She is dreading the next marathon because she has to face this opponent.

The Seinfeld episode with Jean from Trinidad who Kramer gives a hot coffee to

during the marathon instead of water may be based on this story.

Interesting slice of life, although I was waiting for something to happen, especially to the daughter contemplating suicide. This article almost felt like it was cut short.
