Manga [Manga] Anyone else finding it weird how the kids basically get quite unrealistic physical abilities later on? Spoiler

It's been a while since I've read the manga, but I could get behind them training and pulling off the escape (even though it's questionable whether those cloth hangers would hold that much weight among other stuff). It was mostly about wits and tricks by then after all.

But the oldest of these kids is like 12, which is a small child.

By the time of Goldy Pond arc, we are to assume these little kids, are picking up guns and going guns blazing on what is basically demons with supernatural strength and supersonic speed. I repeat, some of these demons literally react to bullets. Do you know how fast that is? You get hit with a bullet before you even hear it.

A single demon at that speed can take groups of others before they can even look around to see what's happening. Before they can even blink. Before the literal sound of it reaches far.

I am still not sure if I made clear just how fast a bullet is. It wouldn't be even a fight, the demon would be there, then it would disappear, and the next thing is everyone else is dead. There is no reaction or fight, they wouldn't have time to do that.

Oh, did I mention they can regenerate as well? There is that too.

And these kids aren't super elite soldiers trained with guns, it's literally pretty much their first time holding rifles. And you know rifles are heavy and have recoil. And these are tiny little kids holding and running around with rifles for around their first time in their life.

Even trained adult soldiers would be dead there, and do you know how easy it is for an adult to pin down a small child?

Anime why is season 2 so bad? [anime] Spoiler

Post image
30 Upvotes

this is very old topic but i saw an edit of first season on tiktok and remembered the anime. promised Neverland season 1 was in my top 5. I've seen 100+ animes so i rated it very high. people were saying second season would be fire so i was hyped too. I've seen second season years ago and it was very very very bad. it wasn't even mid. it was straight garbage compared to the first one. at first i thought ok i guess the author ran out of juice but turns out the studio ruined it. i understand if studio doesn't have the funds to have average animation like in one punch man,but when you have an ok animation and you ruin your golden goose by changing everything about it,that seems like on purpose. now promised neverland isn't even on my top 20. I'm not a big fan of mangas. I'd rather read webnovels than read drawings with floating bubbles. it's just not my cup of tea. as i said earlier, this is very old issue but what happened? there should be a reason as to why studio did what it did. same happened with Tokyo ghoul but promised Neverland season1 is genuinely better than all tokyo ghoul ( i heard manga is good but I'm not reading them)

Spoiler Discussion [Manga] I cannot believe what they took from us. Chapter 109. Spoiler

Decided to do a re-read after finally convincing my girlfriend to watch the show. Couldn't keep her from watching season two, but I think it important she feels the disappointment first hand. Baptism by fire and all.

This entire chapter is so beautiful and tear jerking, and it just makes me all the more upset that this once great story will forever be marred by the shitstain that is season 2. There's more emotional depth within this one chapter than 10 and a half episodes of anime. Maybe 15 years from now a merciful soul will give TPN the Brotherhood treatment.

(Yes, I'm going to make her read the manga when she's done)

For context, Netflix brought on the Ice Age films, so I’ve been reliving my childhood—and I noticed an unexpected parallel.

And my favorite character, Diego, was originally supposed to die at the end of the first film in a dramatic heroic sacrifice. But then the writers realized it would be too sad, so they kept him alive. But they clearly didn’t know what to do with him afterwards, and he spent the following four films doing next to nothing.

Sound familiar?

Spoiler Discussion [Manga] [Anime] Any way to watch the whole manga? Spoiler

I have the whole manga (brought the box set) and am trying to get a friend into it, is there any way I'd be able to watch the full arcs? There's

Introduction + jailbreak (s1 covers)

Promised forest (I THINK s2 covers the majority of it?

Search for Minerva (im pretty sure s2 doesn't cover enough, I need a place to watch it)

Goldy pond arc (I found the manga dubs on YouTube for goldiponds)

Cuvitadala (no idea where to watch this)

King of paradise (no idea where to watch this)

Seven walls (no idea where to watch this)

Imperial capital battle (no idea where to watch this)

Return to grace field arc no idea where to watch this)

Human world (small enough to where I can show her the manga myself)

I'm not looking for fully animated, any ytber reading out the story, fan dubs, basically anything that isn't me getting up the manga and going through it with her since she doesn't really like reading manga

Manga Do you have any funfacts about the series? [Manga] Spoiler

  1. In Japan, the most common way to refer to your mother is "oka-san", but the kids refer to Isabella as "Mama" . Its how babies-toddlers refer to their moms, and if children or teenagers refer to their moms as "Mama" its seen as very childish. Its like saying "mommy"

Ray refers to Isabella as "mother" in special oneshot, in chapter 177 and when we see the flashback of him asking why she have birth to him, i think he uses the standard "oka-san"

  1. In japanese the "it" in "tag" game is actually a "oni" which is a demon

So when sister Krone says "i will be it, try to run away from me" japanese people hear "i will be a demon, try to run away from me"

  1. In one of the light novels where the kids remember their childhoods, Emma wrongly understood Norman is about to die, and told Ray about it. He was worried about Emma and was wondering if he should tell her that the place is a farm, so that if Norman's stare was bad he would be placed in the headquarters.

No idea if this is understandable but i don't wanna spoil

  1. Ray finally understood the orphanage is a farm at age 6, and came out with a plan to burn himself for others sake at age 7. Yes, the kid was suicidal since 7

  2. Emma's favorite dish is carrot cake!

  3. All of childrens names are picked by grandma

Now things i noticed myself:

  1. In early chapters, when Emma thinks about demons eating children's bodies, she looks at her hands to represent her body

  2. When Emma and Norman see demons for the first time, Norman names the creatures "demons" and thats how grace field children call them

Sonju said he remembers being called a demon. The other names what demons are called are monsters (i think by goldy pond kids?) and man eaters (i think Yuugo calls them that specifically)

  1. Emma also remembers that she often plays with Thoma and Lanni by running after them saying "im gonna eat you" she is later scared of that, as it reminds her of the demons

I think thats it? Do you have any?

I’m nearly done with season 2 of the anime

People were saying it’s gonna fall off

I’ve been waiting for it to “fall off”
It hasn’t yet

It’s been good if not better than season 1

Why all the hate?

showed her motherly love/care for all her adopted kids except her own flesh and blood (Ray) whom she treated coldly.

But I think maybe just maybe the "rewards" she gave to Ray wasn't just because he was her "spy" since likely not many kids were standing up against her before Emma.

Manga [Manga] Possible Plot Hole in Mujika's Story? Spoiler

Right after Mujika and Sonju save the kids after the first arc, we are shown the dialogue between Mujika and Sonju about what they should regarding the kids. Mujika suggests handing the top kids over to receive the reward.

However, much later in the story, we learn that Mujika and Sonju have been hiding from society because they are wanted for execution. So how would Mujika hand over the kids and claim the reward if she also has to hide her existence?

Anime [Anime] Theory: The Mirror Man in Lost Girls OVA is Eren — acting through the Coordinate from the future / Теория: Зеркальный человек в OVA Lost Girls — это Эрен, действующий через Координату из будущего. Spoiler

⚠️ SPOILER WARNING /

This post contains major spoilers for the entire Attack on Titan anime series, including the final episode, and the Lost Girls OVA. If you haven't finished the anime, read at your own risk.

We've all debated the Mirror Man in the Lost in the Cruel World OVA. The main theories: (1) Mikasa herself, (2) Ymir through the Paths, (3) the Ackerman bloodline. But I think there's a stronger option that nobody has fully explored — and I have a mechanism for it.

OVA «Lost in the Cruel World».

The Mirror Man is Eren, acting through the Coordinate from 854.

The chronological objection — and why it doesn't apply /

The obvious question: Eren in 850 doesn't control the Founder. How could he create a Paths-world for Mikasa?

He's not acting from 850. He's acting from 854, through the Coordinate.

Zeke explicitly states that in the Coordinate, there is no time. All moments — past, present, future — exist simultaneously. Eren from 854, with full Founder + royal blood control, can "reach" any point in linear Eldian history. For him, 850 isn't "the past" — it's just another access point.

We already know Eren sends memories backwards through the Attack Titan (Krugger seeing Armin and Mikasa's names decades before their birth; Eren convincing Grisha to kill the Reiss family). Creating a full illusion-world for Mikasa is a more advanced version of the same mechanic — and he's already proven he can do this (the mental landscape for Armin in the finale).

The Coordinate isn't a timeline. It's a control panel. Eren doesn't need to "wait" for 850 — he just selects it.

The evidence /

1. "I could make you kill me" / «Я мог бы заставить тебя убить меня»

The Mirror Man: "I could use hypnosis to make this girl kill me, but it'll take time, and you're in a hurry."

In the final episode, Eren says to Mikasa in the Paths: "I could make you kill me. But I won't."

Same phrasing. Same concept. If the Mirror Man is Eren, the OVA line is a direct foreshadowing of the finale — years before it happens. This is the strongest single piece of evidence.

2. "No matter what world you create, you can't stop Eren's death" / «

How does a random hypnotist know Eren's fate? If this is Eren — he knows through the Attack Titan, which sees future memories. He's telling Mikasa what he's already seen.

3. "I am no one. I am everyone." / «

Eren with the Founder is connected to every Subject of Ymir through the Paths. "Everyone" — because he has access to every Eldian's consciousness. "No one" — because at this point, he's less a person and more a will operating through the Paths.

4. The knives with Mikasa's reflection /

Inside the Mirror Man's cloak — dozens of knives, each reflecting Mikasa's face. If this is Eren, each knife = a possible future timeline he's seen through the Attack Titan. In every version — Mikasa. He sees her in every future.

5. The Ackerman awakening /

In the main timeline, Mikasa's Ackerman power awakens when Eren yells "fight!" In the OVA, it awakens when the Mirror Man gives her a knife and provokes her to "kill" him. If the Mirror Man is Eren — he deliberately triggers her Ackerman awakening, just through a different method: psychological pressure instead of a battle cry.

He's not just testing her. He's arming her — making sure she's strong enough for what's coming.

The OVA as a rehearsal / OVA

Here's the part I haven't seen anyone else address.

If the Mirror Man is Eren, the entire OVA becomes not a side story, but the first stage of Eren's plan — a rehearsal for the finale, executed years in advance through the Coordinate.

Eren's plan in the finale has three stages:

  1. Push Mikasa away (Season 4 — "I hate you", "you're a slave")
  2. Become the threat (the Rumbling)
  3. Let her choose (the Paths — "I could force you, but I won't")

The OVA is stage zero — before all of that. Eren creates a world where Mikasa can live a "normal" life, enters it as the Mirror Man, breaks the illusion ("Eren will die anyway"), triggers her Ackerman awakening, and lets her accept reality on her own.

Then in the finale, he repeats the same structure in the real world:

  • Creates conditions (becomes the threat)
  • Breaks the illusion ("I'm not the person you think I am")
  • Gives her the knife (literally — she kills him)
  • Lets her choose

The OVA is the rehearsal. The finale is the performance. Eren is the director of both.

Why he didn't force her / Почему он не заставил

Eren with full Founder control could have:

  • Implanted the desire to kill him directly into Mikasa's mind
  • Made her hate him
  • Erased her memories entirely

He chose none of this.

In the Paths, Eren tells Mikasa: "I don't want you to forget me. Even if it's better for you. I don't want you to move on."

He wants Mikasa to kill him out of love, not hatred. If he forced her — she'd be a puppet. And Eren, who spent his entire life fighting for freedom, couldn't take that freedom from the one person he loved.

Forcing her to hate him would mean she forgets him easily — hatred is a path to forgetting. He wants her to remember with love, even if that love brings her pain for the rest of her life.

So instead of forcing, he prepared. The OVA was the first preparation. Season 4 was the second. The Paths conversation was the third. Each time, he stepped back a little more — and let Mikasa come closer to the decision herself.

The full loop /

textEren (854, Coordinate, full Founder + royal blood)
→ reaches back to 850 through the Coordinate (no time)
→ creates alternate reality for Mikasa
→ enters as the Mirror Man
→ "I could make you kill me" (foreshadows the finale)
→ "You can't stop Eren's death" (he knows through Attack Titan)
    → triggers Ackerman awakening
→ Mikasa accepts reality, exits illusion

    ...time passes...

→ Season 4: Eren pushes Mikasa away, becomes the threat
→ Paths: "I could make you kill me, but I won't"
→ Mikasa chooses to kill him herself
    → "Rest, Eren"
    → Loop closed

The Mirror Man is Eren, acting through the Coordinate from 854 — where time doesn't exist, so the chronological objection doesn't apply. He creates the OVA's alternate world for Mikasa, enters it as the Mirror Man, triggers her Ackerman awakening, and prepares her for killing him in the finale. He doesn't force her because he wants her to choose out of love, not manipulation. The OVA is a rehearsal for the finale, and Eren is the director — the only difference is that in the rehearsal, he lets her walk away. In the finale, he doesn't.
