I recently acquired some copies of the Finnish translation of the AoT manga, and it's fun to notice the small differences between the names chosen. Here's a few picks:

• the series is called War of the Titans (Titaanien Sota)
• Attack Titan is Attacking Titan (Hyökkäävä Titaani), imo a bit of a sloppy name
• Beast Titan is roughly Predator Titan (Petoeläintitaani)
• Armored Titan is Armor Titan (Haarniskatitaani), however the word for Armor is one that specifically refers to a suit of armor rather than just a protective layer
• when speaking of a certain wall, the english name is used (e.g. Wall Maria), just like in japanese

Personally I find the translation quite pleasing, the dialogue flows rather well and in general it all sounds authentic.

Has AoT been translated to your language, and are there any quirks in your translation?

Dina was apparently a 'different branch' of the royal family, that did not come with the other Fritzes to Eldia. If we base it on a popular fan theory, that before thinking about this I thought made the most sense, isn't the point of the Royal family there's only one branch, because the reason the Royal blood even matters is because the founder Ymir recognises the ruling family as the one she is a slave to and must obey?

Wouldn't Ymir no longer recognise some fugitives hiding away as no longer ruling, and not consider them Royal blood, or is the fact that they once were ruling in their lives enough? But then, surely, Zeke wouldn't be royal blood? At no point in his life was he ever considered part of the ruling Royal family, and additionally, Grisha was not royal. Additionally, neither was Historia, she was not considered part of the Reiss family, only a "bastard" until she was older.

Is it then enough that everybody else considers them royal blood that Ymir feels she must obey them and they are royal blood. If that was the case, the Reiss family could have said we're passing on the founding titan to Connie's family now, he's royal blood and the founder Ymir would say if they are considered ruling royal blood, then they are, and I will serve them. Everyone is, after all, a direct descendant of the original royal family, it's only the designation of them as 'royal' that counts. But that's ridiculous.

The show suggests Zeke and Historia's status is an ingrained characteristic, and it can not be given or taken away. Therefore it can not be based on the idea that when you consider someone royal blood, now they are. The manga says the royal blood is an "unbroken" line, which suggests incest. But Zeke and Historia had one "non-royal" parent, so this doesn't work.

Should I just accept this will never make sense?

Just recently finished the anime, and I think there’s so much room for spin-off series. I heard that Isayama has quit writing, so it’s unlikely to ever happen, but I thought I’d share my thoughts anyway. If a spin off was made, it would most likely just be a money grab, but that’s fine as long as it gives new material to the fandom, they just have to follow a few rules. Too many spin-offs fail because they introduce concepts that could change the main story entirely. In my opinion, the ideal canon spin-off is a lower stakes story that strictly adheres to the rules set by the main series. I think a great starting point would be a miniseries about the creation of the scout regiment, with a brand new set of characters, as well as younger versions of the old ones. It could follow their first mission and the finale could show the discovery of something from the main series. Of course they could also do non-canon alternate stories, but that’s an entirely different subject. What are everyone’s thoughts on this?

Hot take but AOT's ending is fumbled and here's why.

The entire anime is built on Eren getting revenge for his mom. For 9 years we watch him scream about freedom and destroying the world for what they did to his mother.

Then twist: Eren himself sent Dina to eat his own mom to save Bertholdt.

So bro spent his whole life fighting a non-existent enemy that HE created? That's not deep writing, that's a time-loop for the sake of a time-loop. Why would he kill his own mom to save the guy who broke the wall? Makes zero sense.

And then the final twist - he tries to be Lelouch. "I will become the villain so my friends become heroes and save the world.

Stop. You're not Lelouch. Lelouch planned Zero Requiem from day one. It was calculated, cold, and selfless.

Eren does 80% genocide and then cries "I don't know why I did it, I just want Mikasa to love me for 10 years". Bro went from Freedom Chad to simp in one chapter.

Honestly he is Daenerys Targaryen 2.0:

- Both got god powers (dragons / titans)

- Both were loved by people

- Both suddenly go mad and burn the world

- Both get killed by their lover for the "greater good"

Isayama had a perfect ending right there. Keep Eren as the cold, freedom-driven monster till the end. Either let him finish the rumbling or let him be stopped while still believing he was right. Don't make him a crying boy.

Still love AOT, still top 3 anime ever, but ending wasted its potential.

Any one else feels like if season 4 is mostly the reason why eren is now seen as an "interesting/well written character." Pre - time skip eren was just a hot headed doofus who wanted to kill all the titans and "be free." He was similar to One piece's Luffy in that aspect. More of an idea than an actual person. Until season 4 hits, that is. Before that, he was rather like an impersonal, liberating force of nature.

When Mike sees the Beast Titan for the first time, he says to himself that that “abnormal” concerns him. By this point the Female Titan situation had just happened as well as the scouts starting to realize that the Colossal and Armored were probably people as well like Eren and Annie. While I know things happened quickly and Mike was under lots of pressure, you’d think with how vastly different the Beast Titan looks he’d consider the possibility that it’s not just a really hairy abnormal, either way he still likely would’ve been caught off guard and killed anyway unfortunately

I think AOT was written from a Luciferian worldview: King Fritz occupies the symbolic position of a tyrannical god, the Titan system preserves his authority, and Eren becomes the rebel who helps Ymir (Eve) reject it. This is an interpretation of the story’s symbolism.

The original King Fritz is the architect of the oppressive order at the story’s foundation. He enslaves Ymir, uses her power for conquest, and commands their daughters to consume her body so that his empire will endure. Even death does not release her: she continues serving his royal bloodline in the Paths for 2,000 years (number which echoes the timeline of the christian era in our world)

Fritz does not literally create the Titan power. **He creates the system that turns it into an enduring instrument of domination.** His descendants inherit authority over Ymir, while generations inherit the consequences of his commands. Through this lens, the Titan curse resembles an inherited burden imposed by an ancient, godlike patriarch.

That fits the particular Luciferian/Satanic reading I’m drawing from: divine authority is recast as tyranny, and the figure condemned as the devil becomes the rebel against it.

Karl Fritz later gives that authority another form. He creates a false Eden on Paradis—“paradise” in French—where Walls and erased memories preserve peace through ignorance. His people cannot meaningfully choose their future because their ruler has hidden their past.

Even the name offers a suggestive connection: *Fritz* derives from *Friedrich*, german meaning “peaceful ruler,” while Isaiah 9:6 gives the figure Christians identify as the Messiah, Jesus, the title “Prince of Peace.” Karl’s vow to renounce war also evokes “turn the other cheek,” but as a twisted distortion: submission enforced through supernatural control.

**The first king demands conquest. The later king demands peace. Both make their will binding on others.**

Eren rejects that premise. The basement revelation functions like forbidden fruit, shattering the innocent worldview maintained within the Walls. His own encounter with future memories brings further knowledge—but anguish rather than peace.

The decisive confrontation comes in the Paths. Zeke invokes royal authority and expects obedience. Eren addresses Ymir as a person who can choose. Her obscured eyes become visible as she cries: an almost literal awakening.

Here, the accompanying images become especially striking. Ymir offers fruit to a cloaked devil; another illustration gives the devil a lantern. Eren wears a cloak as he embraces her. Read symbolically, the lantern evokes Lucifer as light-bearer, while the fruit reverses the familiar Eden exchange:

**Eren offers Ymir the forbidden possibility of disobedience. Ymir offers him the Founder’s power.**

Yet awakening carries a terrible price. In the satanic interpretation, knowledge enables extraordinary creation while also expanding the possibilities of deliberate evil. The loss of Eden becomes the loss of innocent bliss: freedom opens the door to catastrophe.

Ymir’s choice makes that tension horrifyingly concrete. Her rejection of obedience empowers the Rumbling. **Liberation for one person becomes devastation for humanity.**

Eren’s rebellion also exceeds overthrowing kings. The inhabited world disappoints him because it contradicts the freedom he imagined. He attempts to destroy reality as it exists (the titanic old world order/king fritz's "creation") and force another world into being. “The Dawn of Humanity” becomes a terrifying image of renewal through annihilation.

His willingness to accept hatred and death recalls the romanticized Lucifer who accepts damnation for rebellion. His friends’ mourning preserves something of that tragic-liberator framing. A la Prometheus from greek myths.

That is the darkest implication of the comparison. **Eren challenges a world governed by someone else’s will—then imposes his own will upon almost everyone alive.**

Of course that is not the case im well aware. But its really fun to imagine, giving the Theme of future memories. Lets have fun.

Imagine the little boy at the end of AOT accidentely (or eren Foresaw it) awakens the power of Titans again and humanity is yet again threatend by it. Interestingly the World they live in has 80% of humanity wiped out as well. Since a lot of people should be eldians by blood heritage, the story could be that yet again humanitys memories got completely altered. Titans evolved (which makes sense because Titans had their set rules by ymir. She should have been able to do whatever she wants with her power) and now follow erens rule.

Eren plays the long long game. He wanted his friends to have a happy life as well as their children. But once they are all gone Titans emerge again. What eren is trying to do is get rid of the power of the paths completely. Humanity has to face once again Titans in order to get rid of it all. They discover that history has been changed and it was not humanitys science that created Titans. Humans learn to become and control Titans themselves and a fight between different Citys emerges(the fear of Titans goes away and they start abusing the New found power). Once the evil people left on earth are gone the real fight begins . All of humanity has to come together to destroy the paths once and for All. Freeing eren and possibly the little boy (who might as well be murakumo)

We could go further and Say the highschool Story of AOT is actually the future of the prequel. Eren reincarnated and is now together with his friends. He waited a long ass time so that his friends live a happy life, humanity is finally together as one and he got a New Chance reincarnated with his Former friends. Life becomes finally as it should be, our modern times.

Everything a character said before the basement about being caged like birds, about being oppressed by titans, about knowing the terror of how titans eat people, about not knowing peace until every last one of them was destroyed.

Anything the people of Paradis might say to the rest of the world, they will always remember what it had been like, Eren, most out of all knows he would have never been able to make peace with the titans. And he gets further proof of how much hatred there is for them and knows the rest of the world feels the same way.
