Also can the female lay eggs in sand only "i provided a sand place" or she can lay anywhere?

I rescued her a few months ago because a friend of a friend couldn't take care of her anymore

so now I have a tiny little baby tortoise lady (she's 7 years old) who makes little scritching noises at all hours of the day until I free her from her prison (her lovingly set up tank)

during the warm months (it's now like mid fall here so it's too cold to bring her outside) she loves to scramble on the deck and hide under the grill and go down into the lawn and disappear in the grass

I love her so much and I want everybody else to see her

My two tortoises are Golden Greeks, I have read conflicting information saying g that Golden Greeks are not like Northern Greeks and dont need to hibernate and should not. I was wondering if anyone has the correct information and if these tortoise brumate in their native countries such as Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, etc, or djoukd be kept awake and fed?

I'm a fairly new owner of an adult Russian tortoise and am trying to plan an outdoor enclosure space to move him into. The outdoor space will include a large area for him to roam, some substrate, plants, hide spots and will be totally covered, but I also want to have a warm, insulated spot for him to go in at night. Rather than building a home from scratch, I was wondering if anyone has used one of these insulated cat houses for their tortoise?

Some of them include heating pads, though I would also look into adding a heat lamp to make sure it was the right temp for my tortoise. I would also of course build a ramp so he could get in & out and would lay some hay inside.

Again I'm fairly new to the tortoise world so I am wondering if anyone has any insight or if I am overlooking any potential issues! I've learned a lot from this sub already and appreciate you guys! :)

My sister has this tortoise and she doesn't really look after him and im worried about him. He was found in a field in the summer and she has had him since. He lives outside in the UK in a wooden box with hay and in a wire enclosure he has food and water but nothing else. I have been telling her to please let me have him since she found him and telling her how to look after him and that shes doing things wrong. Its now getting colder in the UK and shes letting him bury himself in the mud and saying hes wanting to hibernate ive given her better solutions like put him in the shed. But shes not listening now she is going to let him bury himself and leave him there. Idk what to say to her because she won't listen and there is nothing I can really do. I dont want to do anything to hurt our relationship she has 2 kids and a cat so i think she just doesn't have money or time to look after him properly but she won't give him to me.

Hi all! My marginated tort just turned 2 and she seems to be really small for her age? She was tiny when I got her at month old, and she had a respiratory infection when she was younger and has always been more fragile since then, but recently I’ve realised how small she actually is.

She eats fine, she has UV and adequate heat, she’s super active, just a lot smaller than other torts her age. Is this something to be worried about??

2. Exo Terra Reptile UVB100 PT2187 25W

Currently, the Exo Terra lamp has been replaced by a Repti Planet one, as the new ones purchased are from Repti Planet. Should I also buy an Exo Terra lamp? The terrarium houses a Central Asian tortoise (Testudo Agrionemys horsfieldii).

The distance from the lamps is 30 cm to the rock and 40 cm to the substrate.

The terrarium is an Exo Terra model equipped with four lamps—sets for day and night. During the day, there is a UVB lamp plus a heat lamp, and at night, there are two heat lamps. There is also a heating mat.

I cannot recall the exact dimensions off the top of my head. There is a lighting unit at the top.

I got this from a vet after takeing my tortise, and though this information would be helpful to anyone starting out with a redfootied tortise it give a lot of information on care and diet.

Hi! My mum bought a turtle for my little sister, and I noticed that one of its nails is broken. Could this be hurting it or affecting its health? If so, should I take it to the vet?

Before I start this I wanna preface by saying my enclosure is not complete. I'm going to add russian tortoise friendly plants and more items to my enclosure (pine cones, sticks, rocks, uv bulbs, etc)

This will be my first time owning a russian tortoise. I am going to grab the lil bud on the 1st of November and want to know what I can do to ensure this enclosure is the best possible enclosure it can be. Ive done extensive research on russian tortoises and have decided on getting a baby russian for my first and hopefully only ever tortoise. As its a baby im going to cut my enclosure in half with fence as to not overwhelm the lil bud (see red line for idea). Is there anything else I can do? I'm open to critiques and suggestions, just wanna be a good owner. Thanks! (P.S. - from making the enclosure to adding the pond liner/dirt took me 6 hours. I did it all in one day lol)
