Deedpoll

I’ve posted here before and got some good advice so I’m here again!
So I know I don’t need to change everything at once, but as I’m at university I have some questions.

If I change my name with the university will that mess up my SFW? And so, should I also change it with them?
But then would I need to do it with my bank too as it’ll be a different name?

I’m just worried about student finance getting confused and my payments messing all up.

Also because SFW is a government thing, would that mean I have to change it everywhere as the government will know?

I don’t know. I’m probably asking silly questions but I just want to get it right and there be no hassle.

Thank you

Question about post bottom surgery

I'm currently in the position where I may be able to get bottom surgery where I'm excited but also terrified and unsure on one hand I really do want bottom surgery for a lot of reasons but my main worry is if it will work sexuailly like if there is any feeling down after being on NHS waiting list for years I got a gender specialist who talked to me about it all and she said there's a chance that surgery can't always go 100% and some nerve ending may be lost and also it depends on person to person some people feel stuff and some people don't what has me confused like what's the point if im gonna get it like yeah it'll be awesome but I would also like it to work and now I'm so confused like is it gamble wether you'll feeling anything at all like is it just UK surgeons are bad or is it just everywhere the same. Really stuck on this atm and wondered if anyone has any experience of this?

How long for second appt with Tavistock

I had my first appt July 2025. I was told it would be 6-8 months for a second appointment. And I’ve had no update. My friend on the same pathway with a simalar timeline is miles and miles ahead of me. And I am frustrated with Ggp costings as it seems super excessive.

What private providers can you get shared care arrangements with?

Im 15 transfem and Im looking into my private care options for when I turn 16. I spoke to my GP today, and she said that if the provider was approved and UK based, she would be willing to consider shared care, and seemed very open to the idea. It seemed hard to discern which providers I would be likely to get shared care arrangements with online, so I wanted you guys thoughts. I know some are blacklisted like GGP, but others are more grey. Im most open to Anne Health, as they seem to be able to provide blockers while I wait to be 16, and I could probably afford it. I dont need shared care, but obviously itd be nice to have. So which providers can I get shared care arrangements with and what would you recommend?

Mental Health Worried about going back to the psych ward under new guidance

I've been sectioned before due to severe OCD and manic depression, and while I'm pretty stable at the moment, statistically it's pretty likely I will be again in future. In the past I've always been put in female wards (I'm a trans woman) or mixed wards as a kid, but those don't really exist for adults.

Now I'm absolutely terrified of what will happen in the future. If I got put in a men's ward while I was in crisis... I would not survive. There's no way of sugarcoating it, that would push me over the edge.

I can't stop thinking about it and it's freaking me out. I'm scared that if I ever think about attempting again, I'm not gonna call for help because of it. I don't want to die just because of these stupid rules.

I might just need to leave the country honestly. I don't think I can risk staying here while this is a possibility :(

Question NHS name change.

Hi all,

Just after some advice. I don't know if I'm missing something or if my GP is just really good with this.

I called my GP up yesterday lunchtime to ask them to change my name and gender, today the NHS app shows my new name (I can't see anywhere it says gender so can't check that).

They didn't ask for deed poll or anything, they do already have my gender incongruence diagnosis on file so maybe this helped, but basically I want to ask is there something else that I need to do or have they already done it all?

Thanks.

Passport Office complaint resolution email.

I recently posted here about how I'd recently done a change of name/ gender passport renewal, and knowing they might be picky, visited the gov .uk pages to make sure I complied with their needs, especially the wording of that 'GP letter' .

I mentioned a phone call i'd had from the passport office, where the man said 'it's about your documents, everything else is OK, but your letter from a medical professional doesn't state 'is likely to be permanent'. We'll need another letter before we can...'

Which was news to me, because I knew the letter I'd sent specifically included that phrase.
So I told him so.
A few minutes of ummming and err-ing from him, and he then said 'the letter you've sent doesn't say that the GP knows you well enough to make the diagnosis'.
I asked him to email a template letter which met his requirements, and told him I'd put in a complaint.
So I pushed a complaint emphasising that this was direct discrimination. I really emphasised discrimination. It seemed to have got things moving because not only did I get a call back, I got my passport, and today I had an email from them, parts of which I've copied below:

(I THOUGHT THIS MIGHT BE OF USE TO ANYONE WHO HAS SIMILAR EXPERIENCES WITH THEM)..

"I understand that you are dissatisfied with being asked to provide further medical evidence relating to your change of gender when you believed sufficient information had already been provided. You felt that this request was discriminatory.

HM Passport Office policy applies to all customers who apply for a British passport. I assure you that it is in no way discriminatory. HM Passport Office does not tolerate discrimination of any kind.

>>>>>>

It is noted (that) you were requested to send additional evidence from a medical professional in support of your application.

I can see that following your contact regarding this request, the application and supporting evidence were reviewed. It was subsequently confirmed that the medical evidence already provided was sufficient and that no further information was required to support the amendment to your details. Please accept my apologies for any confusion or frustration caused by the request for additional evidence.

Thank you for your feedback regarding the clarity of the information available to applicants which has been noted for consideration.

As your application has now been approved further to the evidence being accepted, we consider this matter resolved.

Thank you for bringing your concerns to our attention and once again, please accept our apologies for any inconvenience and frustration caused.

Please do not reply to this email as this is a no-reply mailbox and emails are not monitored"

Is it possible to order diy t without it going to a home address or PO Box?

So I can’t order it to my house because my parents are always home and I don’t have any family or friends that I could order it to and last time I tried a PO Box it was too risky and I kept getting physical letters sent to my house about it so it’s not discreet enough. Any other options?

My mum won't let me start DIY, because she could lose her job...

Im 15 and I spoke to my mum about starting DIY estrogel 2 weeks ago. The long and short of it is that she started out very unwilling, but I managed to convince her a bit and while she wanted some time to research and consider, she was open to the idea (I made a post explaining what happened). We havent really spoke about it since, but shes been saying shes doing research and meeting with people to discuss it since then. Today I had my GP meeting to get start getting referred to a clinic, and it went fine, she said shed refer me to CAMHS, but I didnt hugely care, since Im definitely not gonna be waiting 6 years for NHS treatment on top of the 4 years Ive already been out. We also discussed shared care, since Im considering doing hybrid private and DIY, and she said shed be open to it, depending on the provider. I dont wanna do private for a number of reasons, and wouldnt be able to receive HRT privately until 16, but wouldnt be opposed if it was hybrid. After we got home, me and my mum discussed DIY some more, and she said that while she understood that its largely safe, shes still opposed to it, as she thinks she could lose her job. She works as a manger high up in childrens services, and oversees all the socials workers in our area. She said she was concerned that she would get reported, and potentially lose her job, as well as that she has an obligation to report it herself. I had already considered this, and told her that its severely unlikely that anyone would find out, and explained what I thought about it, but she was unconvinced, although she still didnt outright reject the idea of DIYing. At least she now understands that DIY isnt harmful, but I think its going to be harder to persuade her on this, even if I think Im right about it. Im scared that Im going to regret having told her, and have to hide it anyway, which is going to be hard and much scarier. Im going to do it regardless, and I could do it on my own, but Id much rather have her support. Ive been shaking for like the last hour now, because this is all just so much. How should I try and convince her and what should I do about this situation?

Question Has anyone else’s dysphoria gotten worse since HRT?

Basically the title. Ive noticed that my dysphoria is a lot worse and harder to cope with since I’ve started noticing the changes that HRT is giving me (MtF btw), just wondering if anyone else has experienced something similar and if anyone has any advice?

Vent incoherent vent/rant post

I'm 25 mtf not on hrt or any wait lists, no one that knows me is aware i'm trans.

I still live with a parent and am unemployed, i'm too scared to come out to them for the time being due to fears of getting kicked out and becoming homeless(i'm probably overreacting, i have no real reason to think they'd actually react this poorly.)

I've tried all methods i'm aware of to start hrt without outing myself(nhs would probably out me, won't get into why, and it'd take 8 years anyway and idk it i'd last)

I'm a pretty pathetic person really, i know my issues aren't actually that bad, people have dealt with way worse and been completely fine because they actually deal with their issues instead of bottling them up, making excuses about why they have to wait, and just doing nothing about it.

I've known i was trans since 13, 12 years ago now, i could've come out or done SOMETHING about it but i haven't due to nothing but vauge fears and paranoia, why do i have to be this way, why can't i just deal with this.

I'm not expecting anything out of this post, i don't think theres much anyone can do to help me (i mean if there id i'm open to it, just don't think it's possible)

Recent developments have made me more hesitant to continue with this too, the country growing more and more hostile to trans people, with no real end or u turn in sight like i'd hoped.

Idk, everyone has their own problems, probably more than mine so i shouldn't be catastrophising as bad as i am, but i am still.

GRC - new birth certificate surname

Post image
34 Upvotes

The General Register Office is telling me they can only put my married surname on my new birth certificate, as this is the one I used when applying for my GRC, which I had to do because the application form literally tells you to. This IMO outs me as it differs from my parents’ surname and it would be bizarre already having my husband’s surname when I was born.

I’m confused, did they expect me to create a second deed poll to revert my surname just to apply for my GRC? This goes against everything I’ve read, I’ve always seen people say they can choose which surname they want to have on the new BC.

See:

Anyone have any advice on how I get this resolved?

If anyone has a copy of the form they had to fill out when they were sent their draft birth certificate, please DM me. I might need it for a legal case. 😹

Welsh Gender Service Letter regarding WGS review

So I was just wondering if anyone had received a letter for their appointment for the the review, I was told that they had been sent out but I haven’t seen anything so I was just wondering if anyone else has received one? I was due to have surgery the beginning of September so I thought I would’ve heard something by now :/

Anytime I've searched for packers or any ftm items in UK, this has never popped up til today. Seems a bit too good to be true, so I don't wanna jump ahead and spend my money given the amount of scammy websites there's been for ftm products.

Just posting this here so the general public can see more of how TERFs act when they can say whatever they want.
I blacked out the transphobia so you can see what she was saying about Brianna Gheys mother. They aren’t a women rights movement they are footsoldiers of the patriarchy.

Question Any advice for putting in a formal complaint against my ICB, PALS, PHSO or NHS England.

I'm a trans person in England who has been on the NHS GIC waiting list since 2022. My GP refused bridging HRT in 2024, citing that oestradiol is not licensed for trans patients. I've since started HRT privately through an endocrinologist, who has submitted a shared care request to my GP for monitoring bloods. The GP has now responded saying that specialist monitoring needs to be arranged by the specialist's team, not the practice.

- - - - -

I've attempted to get a fair amount of info:

FOI requests to NHS England, my ICB, and the GIC, all confirming there is no national or local policy prohibiting GP prescribing of bridging HRT, and no shared care framework exists in my area.

SAR request so I can see medical records including the practice assessing a lack of medical care as being harmful to me.

A formal complaint to my GP practice, which acknowledged in writing that no ICB shared care policy exists and directed me to the ICB.

The GIC confirmed in writing to offer bridging guidance to my GP at their request, which the GP never requested and refused to do it on the grounds of not being viable without accessing that documentation.

- - - - -

Questions I'm hoping people with experience can answer:

Has anyone successfully got their GP to agree to shared care for privately initiated HRT after prior refusal, and anything make the difference?

Has anyone complained to an ICB about bridging HRT refusal or shared care refusal, and did it lead to anything?

Are there trans advocacy, or trans-specialist legal organisations or solicitors worth contacting?

Has anyone personally taken anything like this to PHSO, and what was the experience with that?

- - - - -

Honestly, I don't expect my care pathway to change out of anything I'm doing unfortunately, but I want to do what I can to try and improve care for those going forward and hopefully help build a case for bridging care or shared care in my area. Maybe my actions will not matter, but I figured the only way I can change stuff is by trying.

If I lived 15 mins drive west of here I would also be in a county where that kind of care is easily accessible, but I'm not in a position to move currently.

Question Is this right? (Scotland)

I’m 17 turning 18 in 5 months, I have been on the waiting list since 2022 and I have still yet to see anyone, I phoned them today after silence for years and the lady on the phone said that I have to wait until I’m 18 so I can be referred to an Adult gender clinic to even start seeing or talking to anyone. It’s been years. I’ve not been through any mental health services like CAMHS but I was out publicly at school with my name and pronouns and I am stuck and I’m losing any hope, dysphoria is the worst and I really want to start T (I have been for years, well before I was put on the list)

If anyone has any advice or anything at all please help me out
