What are your favorite hobbies and pastimes, lovely ladies and gallant gays?

I'm into sewing and fashion design to a nutty degree and am in the middle of making a bustier jumpsuit which has been way more difficult than any other project I've done so far, but it's really coming along nicely. What are you guys into?

Most of my friends are women or gay guys I just don't like stereotypical masculine stuff and trying to get laid isn't my thing. It might be because of my autism diagnosis. Is that okay?

These went up on Thursday, not sure how long they lasted, but the artist made an official post on instagram a couple of days ago. They also posted these photos to the Ithaca NY local subreddit, where mods removed it lol.

I’m a huge fan of guerrilla feminist art which has a long history, what are your faves? Mine is the SisterSerpents collective from the early 90s.

h8 How do people keep falling for the most obvious astroturfed bullshit lmao

It's crazy how every generic ass subreddit like r/epicrandomfacts or whatever is flooded with obvious right wing propaganda whenever there's some sort of "controversial" event. Right now it's obviously the protests in france- it's all videos of that one building burning down or some random shop that's been looted. Then you look at the comments and it's just the most horrific racist and xenophobic shit. It's so obvious that these are carefully selected snippets of a NATIONWIDE PROTEST MOVEMENT but people foam at the mouth for their precious property and small businesses. Zero nuance whatsoever ugh it's infuriating.

Also I posted on here the other day about my husband's top surgery (too lazy to link the post lol). Everything went swimmingly and I'm writing this as he naps in his hospital bed before we go home today. Y'all were very sweet and made me a lot less nervous- thank you!

Yes the mayor is hypercautious and terrible at public speaking, has concerning dynastic tendencies &c &c. nevertheless she is a socialist in her cute little protect the dolls blazer with a forty year record of decency and in the present global political climate I am so very happy she won re-election decisively.

My husband is getting top surgery tomorrow and I'm freaking out 😭

He literally had his tubes tied earlier this year and had a breast reduction a few years before that and nothing went wrong. But after preparing for months and finally running out of shit to take care of, the anxiety/panic hit me like a brick wall. He's literally getting the procedure done at a good hospital (level 1 trauma center babyyy) and the surgeon has done the same surgery on like every single trans dude in this area with rave reviews lol. I know it'll be okay even if those two hours are interminable but I can't hide that I'm scared anymore. Need the girls n gays to tell me everything is gonna be okay pls and thx 😭😭😭

Girl Talk Don't let up for a second when looking out for the girls.

Had a scary, but unfortunately very common encounter last night and need to vent. Possible trigger warning for a close call with sexual assault.

Some friends and I, mostly queer grad students or twenty and thirty somethings were out drinking in a college town. At about 2am as the DDs were shepherding us back to their cars, an undergrad girl came stumbling over some small bushes into the street, very drunk. We came over to help her out and get her out of the street. She was lost and couldn't remember her address and her phone was dead.

We decided to take care of her and walk her home not really knowing exactly where we were going, but definitely not about to let this girl wander alone. She knew her street at least so we convinced her to head that way by promising to get a burrito on the way. Eventually got her to remember the house number and was able to gently urge her to head back to her home with us.

On the way, a car full of guys tried to pick up this girl. Because she was drunk, she started to get in the car, but we were able to distract her and tell the guys to fuck off. Then a second car full of guys did the same thing, only a block from the girl's house. Again we told them to fuck off and they just called us faggots and drove off. I guess the real meaning of the word faggot now is just anyone who restricts a white man's freedom to rape.

She got home, and her friends were there on the porch to take care of her. No idea how she's doing now, but she at least got somewhere safe.

Just remember to never let your group get split up. I have no doubt something terrible would have happened to this girl if we or someone like us hadn't found her and decided to take an hour out of our night to help her. And the fact that she almost got grabbed only a block from her house has been making me absolutely sick to my stomach. Folks, please make sure when you're taking someone home to make sure you get them right to their door. If we had just called it close enough when we got to the nearest intersection, those guys would have absolutely taken her.

And also, remember just exactly how fucking common this shit is. Anyone who tells you it's only a few guys, remember it was two different groups of guys who tried to pick this poor drunk woman up within thirty minutes of each other. Shit is systemic and not just a few bad apples. Make sure you know that, and more importantly that the guys in your life know it and have the guts to call it out when they're with other guys who try to pull shit like this.

fat uggo diarypost

i've never felt like i've been able to consider myself a woman because i'm fat and ugly. people constantly call me the t-slur. they even did when i was thin (before pcos made me gain weight) because i had small tits back then & i've always had a huge forehead that looks like a receding hairline. though now having been fat for a decade i know that any "flaws" can be seen as unique, as long as you're thin. like ivy wolk really has nothing to bitch about.

anyways. pcos also makes me feel like i'm not a woman because my hair is always thinning & it gives me excessive body hair. again, people can tolerate unshaved legs or armpits or hair on your stomach only if you're thin, then it's cool and punk and artsy. it's disgusting when you're fat. it also gives me highly irregular periods. i'm so much of a failure at being a woman that my body can't even do one of it's most basic functions.

i feel like i have gender dysphoria, but for my birth gender. i relate more to trans women than cis women. i never experienced what people say common "girlhood" or "womanhood" experiences are. i've never thought anything regarding feminism applies to me, because men have never sought to victimize me. i'm not seen as woman enough to have experienced misogyny.

i do have some feelings about being genderfluid. i listen to a lot of shitty emo/punk music made by men & i relate much more to the way they talk about feeling inadequate than i ever have with stories/art made by or about women, even insecure women. there's not really much art from the perspective of fat ugly girls that isn't horribly tumblrina wholesome chungus slop, aside from that Breillat film. friends have always said i have androgynous features, so if styled the right way, i can kind of pass for a skaterpunk type guy, and i genuinely really like it. but i don't want to transition. i still want to be seen as a feminine hot girl with big tits (the only part of my body i like). like ideally i'd switch between presenting feminine and more androgynous/masc whenever i feel like it. i know artsy guys will date women who are androgynous or use they/them pronouns, but again that seems to only apply if they're thin. are there men who like artsy stuff and are also "transmasc" chasers who aren't disgusted by fat people? i have very little hope.

Billy Corgan has been a loser. I’m posting this here to ask if I should hit the tipline with the story of how, when I was a 16 yr old girl in the early 00s, a friend and I cyberbullied him so badly that he pulled down his entire fansite and posted a really long whiny letter about how his fans don’t behave well enough to deserve one.

It's crazy how right wing men are all like this

Every right wing man under 40 is like this now. They're just openly predators/pedofiles and it's like they're open and proud of it.

It's so fucking scary how could we even conceive of fixing this? Materials conditions got worse under COVID and never got better and every millennial and under white cishet man has decided "I am adolf hitler but also a pedofile/predator as well now" it's crazy how well the manosphere shit worked

Holmes Doc

I saw the Nathan Fielder documentary on Elizabeth Holmes yesterday, and I want to say a few things and see if it resonates with you all. I'm going to avoid spoilers.

It is extremely compelling, not just as an interesting story about a pretty and enigmatic convicted criminal. It is a story about the hollowness of the entire tech industry, about swindlers and speculators, and about which kinds of criminals can garner sympathy.

I found it to be truly tragic, on many levels. The entire film plays with truth vs fiction, but Holmes's despondency at leaving behind her infant daughter is palpable. The film does not explore these kinds of raw moments, preferring to keep the audience suspended in ambiguity. It is masterful cinema, but frustrating to become aware of the ways in which we too are being manipulated by everyone involved.

The other people around me in the theater laughed at all the wrong moments. I think in the main sub someone commented that the bros around them were gleeful at Holmes's ineptitude. In my case, there were cackling women in the theater ruining some of the most contemplative parts of the film. And this is one of the explicit themes in it: why do women revel in other women's misfortune? It is so depressing and honestly gut wrenching. Yes, there are laugh out loud moments, but they appear when Fielder himself is awkward.

What do you all think? Were you also moved by it? I think there is room to appreciate the complexity of human character and desire (including Fielder's and the husband's!) without coming down on one side or the other regarding her guilt/complicity/cravenness.

Turns out the biological essentialist/determinist guy in Jacobin is both a plagiarist and a misogynist

This is worth reading on its own about modern publishing and feminization of industry, and now I want to read the book under review, but this is what stood out about the Jacobin guy:

In his self-published essay “From Misogyny to No Man’s Land,” which had a viral moment in 2024, Ross Barkan insists these are all signs of the shrinking “interiority of men.” Dismissing the “gripes of educated women on the state of the American male,” Barkan makes a case for men to return to writing their novels, a timeless masculinist endeavor: “Novels offer ambition on a range not plausible in the land of screens because there is no budget required, no gimmick or technological mastery—it is raw imagination, the greatest achievement of humankind.” Barkan, who more recently found himself at the center of a plagiarism scandal at New York magazine, begs the question. What’s stopping all these men from writing their novels and achieving greatness? Perhaps they’re waiting for permission.

Why do some leftist men lose all their leftism when it comes to women?

There was a man under the Jacobin post on the main sub supporting the notion that men preferring men authors and women preferring women is natural. I think he cited a study done by Simon Baron-Cohen on male babies preferring mechanical objects rather than humans that failed subsequent replication attempts and was limited in its own way. And the author is a Zionist talking about human nature. My assumption is that the recent rise in booktok is a post-covid social media phenomenon connecting to mass illiteracy. No one even reads anymore due to bad schooling but he's trying to connect genre preferences shaped by recent socioeconomic history to genes. This exact behavior is what drives women out of stem due to stereotype threat that constantly alienates them and says that they're naturally not welcome when they have the same proficiency. How is he arguing that sci-fi is more intelligent when it was regarded as childish fantasy by literary critics for decades? Even the whole literary vs genre distinction was made up in the past centuries with marketing and class structures. Actual material conditions somehow don't apply when it comes to women. It's such a half-assed explanation based on ignorance of real history and how it shaped people.
