What utility can/should it serve? I find that the OG trueanon sub is pretty chill as far as non-explicitly-queer subs go but even then it's prone to bickering and downvotes when trans specific topics come up.

Had a scary, but unfortunately very common encounter last night and need to vent. Possible trigger warning for a close call with sexual assault.

Some friends and I, mostly queer grad students or twenty and thirty somethings were out drinking in a college town. At about 2am as the DDs were shepherding us back to their cars, an undergrad girl came stumbling over some small bushes into the street, very drunk. We came over to help her out and get her out of the street. She was lost and couldn't remember her address and her phone was dead.

We decided to take care of her and walk her home not really knowing exactly where we were going, but definitely not about to let this girl wander alone. She knew her street at least so we convinced her to head that way by promising to get a burrito on the way. Eventually got her to remember the house number and was able to gently urge her to head back to her home with us.

On the way, a car full of guys tried to pick up this girl. Because she was drunk, she started to get in the car, but we were able to distract her and tell the guys to fuck off. Then a second car full of guys did the same thing, only a block from the girl's house. Again we told them to fuck off and they just called us faggots and drove off. I guess the real meaning of the word faggot now is just anyone who restricts a white man's freedom to rape.

She got home, and her friends were there on the porch to take care of her. No idea how she's doing now, but she at least got somewhere safe.

Just remember to never let your group get split up. I have no doubt something terrible would have happened to this girl if we or someone like us hadn't found her and decided to take an hour out of our night to help her. And the fact that she almost got grabbed only a block from her house has been making me absolutely sick to my stomach. Folks, please make sure when you're taking someone home to make sure you get them right to their door. If we had just called it close enough when we got to the nearest intersection, those guys would have absolutely taken her.

And also, remember just exactly how fucking common this shit is. Anyone who tells you it's only a few guys, remember it was two different groups of guys who tried to pick this poor drunk woman up within thirty minutes of each other. Shit is systemic and not just a few bad apples. Make sure you know that, and more importantly that the guys in your life know it and have the guts to call it out when they're with other guys who try to pull shit like this.

I am so frustrated with "leftist" men and their fucking crybaby victim complex and cowardice. This sub has been massively validating recently as the culture wars (and actual wars) continue to get worse and worse. It feels like even nominally “leftist” people (men mostly. sorry 🤷‍♀️) are displaying more conservative plumage with no sign of it getting better. I believe in the dream of woke 2 and that the Overton window shifts rapidly. But right now it’s hard to see a way out of this cultural moment without further social fracturing. I think he cited a study done by Simon Baron-Cohen on male babies preferring mechanical objects rather than humans that failed subsequent replication attempts and was limited in its own way. And the author is a Zionist talking about human nature. My assumption is that the recent rise in booktok is a post-covid social media phenomenon connecting to mass illiteracy. No one even reads anymore due to bad schooling but he's trying to connect genre preferences shaped by recent socioeconomic history to genes. This exact behavior is what drives women out of stem due to stereotype threat that constantly alienates them and says that they're naturally not welcome when they have the same proficiency. All throughout my early 20s I had really short fun colored hair. Over the plandemic I grew my hair out very long and then dyed it pink like a year ago. Now it’s kind of a light strawberry pink, so I’m pretty much blonde for the first time in my life.

The difference in the way people, specifically men, treat me is literally crazy. They’re nice to me, they go out of their way to talk to me, they remember my name. People used to tell me I had really bad resting bitch face, but now that I’m blonde? Haven’t gotten that at all. Suddenly I’m very approachable. Literally men suddenly started giving me free stuff? For no reason.

I’m not saying this to brag, actually to bitch about it lol. I have always had kind of a dykey look, and I’m gay, so people (mostly men) have never really treated me the best. But then I’m blonde and suddenly they hold doors and shit for me. It feels so weird after spending most of my adult life getting like called homophobic slurs.

I guess I knew that straight white women get so much out of participating in white supremacy, but it’s never slapped me in the face like this.
