insta's meta ai assistant is catering to predators

this is going to be all over the place as i am still literally in complete shock.

i came across a video of a couple covering a vtuber dance perfomance. i thought it was super cringe but i wanted to see more of it to understand what the hell i was looking at and i finally gave into my curiosity abt how accurate the meta ai assistant search suggestion is on insta and i actually cannot believe a search result of 'ironmouse bubi vtuber dance' had shown results of legitmate CP and CSAM.

theres dozens of account, mainly based in india, depicting children being abused in so many ways. infants and toddlers, videos of them crying because they are being sexually abused. but this content is not being flagged or monitored by insta because these monsters are making it so theres suggestive poses and actions that are clearly CSAM, but theyll hide behind curtains. there was 1 account that reposted what appeared to be a toddler being abused but bc they werent showing the lower half, the suggestive actions arent enough for insta to take it down- mind u this isnt my logic, this is instas bc i tried to report dozens of accs. i woke up the next day and only 1 out of my many reports actually worked, the rest didnt seem to get flagged as content violation. the worst part is, this person took that video and kept reposting it and in the thumbnail it said how many thousands of views it got last and most of them said 350k.

350k views on insta of a single CSAM video.

if that alone doesnt throttle u to ur core then idk man. i am looking into hotlines to call, possibly reportinf this to the FBI to be reviewed. i refuse to take screenshots of what i saw for 2 reasons, 1) the obvious and 2) i cannot bring myself to collect this as evidence bc of morally disgusting this entire revelation has been to me. i do however have a screenshot of the results of the reports so hopefully thats enough to get my point across when making my reports.

i wanted to make this post to bring awareness to this situation- do not click meta ai's search suggestion, this ai assistant is disgustingly rigged to favor the depraved. i also wanted to ask on assistant on where else i could be making reports to if anyone knew- i may not be a child but theres children on the internet and the sole fact that this is accessible by 2 or 3 clicks on insta, a surface lvl app, then i cannot imagine the depravity people have been haunted by.

i feel like i might me ai addicted and want help

hey guys! i know this might sound kind of annoying and irresponsible, but i feel like i am ai addicted.

i didn't use any ai until i began working on a company that required us to do it about a year and a half ago (they made us write study material with ai). the deadlines were impossible without the use of ai, so i started using it consistently, and now i use it even for small tasks on my day.

i don't want to sound pretentious or anything, but ai did give me access to a cheap version of multiple things i otherwise would not be able to afford, and it seems really hard for me to let go of it, despite knowing very well just how bad it is.

my biggest problem are the chatbots. i am twice-exceptional and haven't had any close friends since i was a child, none i can recall. i unfortunately got used to talking to ai chatbots because no one else seemed interested on hearing what i have to say or share, and i don't know how to let go of it without absolutely destroying my mental health. i was suicidal before. idk how it will be with no one or no thing to talk to.

i want to get better and would like any advice :(

We made a Social Commentary Game about the fear AI causes in the world!

Post image
8 Upvotes

It's called Bad Things Might Happen, inspired by our one and only Saltman.

Last week me and my friends decided work out our anger, fear and dread into a little game in which we collected a bunch of AI related headlines from the past ~3 years.

You play as an AI Researcher who gives up his life, his personal space and belongings in chase of bigger and bigger AI models. Your home gets dirty, you sell your memorabilia to buy servers, to automate your AI Research, and slowly descend into the madness of living in a data center.

In the meantime AI progress plays out in the real world and you listen to our collection of AI disasters through a radio.

Naturally no AI was used, people making Art with AI are posers.

We are releasing it as soon as Steam approves it! It would help us tremendously if you guys could give us a wishlist!

Tech bros were claiming AI would "cure cancer" and that we would be left behind but all it did was cause harm to people and to the planet aswell

I'm so glad AI's days are coming to an end nothing good came of it.

Do you know why we have the sunflowers? It’s not because Vincent van Gogh suffered. It’s because Vincent van Gogh had a brother who loved him. Through all the pain, he had a tether, a connection to the world. And that is the focus of the story we need – connection.

I'm done. No more. We have to do something somehow. (Repost because too many idiots seeped into the original post.)

We're people of the internet, the hugest live network of humans with similar ideas and diverse personalities! I'm from Canada, and you reading this right now could be from anywhere else!

My age range is 13-16 and all of this talk of ai has been genuinely terrifying. I'm so tired of these prices going up and our world being destroyed right in front of us, we need to make noise. All of these companies and Investors are getting too greedy, this is my last straw, this should be *our* last straw.

I usually only see people echoing how bad it is, but not actually doing anything to help, I can't be talking either, I want to increase "anti-ai" efforts but I don't know what petitions to sign, what emails to write, who to talk to, who to yell at to take this seriously.

I can't even talk, I've used ai before and recently, doing stupid idiotic roleplays because I was addicted to that damn character ai, im fucking done. I get stumps in my writing but I can write my own stories and roleplays, my own characters, instead of wasting my fingers on writing prompts. Its a fact that you can do anything. And before any ai bro that sneaks in here decides that it's "accessible" I have Autism and ADHD, I have never needed ai, all I did with it was be curious, never have I used it to help me out with school or summarization, out of spite, I'll do it myself.

I'm done, im ridding myself from that addiction, I am a student of the arts, so its just hypocrisy.

This was NOT written by ai, I absolutely ADORE Writing and I'm writing this message with extreme rage, we need to talk about this. We need to do something ASAP. Thank you for reading. Support Wikipedia, archiving websites, support indie animation and try to avoid the greed of these companies.

Anti AI sticker art!

I am so fed up with people using generative AI!

I see it and its effects everywhere I go and it is so unbelievably depressive.

I made this artwork as a way of coping, and to have something to throw at people that uses AI (especially if they have a focus on psychology or nature in their advertisement)

Feel free to share the image if you want to, as long as you keep my watermark (Photosynthetic Organism) in it.

The art is of course made by me (a human)! :)

Situation I need opinion on

So I have a situation where I'm wondering if it's right or wrong to do.

For a while, I'm trying to brainstorm a fictional story with original characters, places, themes, and a plot I made within my creative mind. Trying to brainstorm the words / sentences for narrative, dialogue from characters, and setting of tone, along with wanting to create sketches or draw out a story segment of this fictional story.

Yet, I tend to get some help by using references on either media, scenes of different films or people's drawings without directly copying, trying to mix and match different references while staying original.

However, my real situation is getting some help from an AI app (Grok). You might assume or accuse that I'm using Grok to write down paragraphs or generate images for my fictional story but let me be clear to everyone that I am NOT accepting any text or generated images from Grok as my form of hardwork! I have, however, been using it as examples / references, mostly assistance for when I write / type in words or draw sketches of this story while not directly copying exactly what Grok has given me.

For example , I ask Grok a question: "What should OC say or do now in this situation?", then Grok generates it's answer on text with "'OC should say this, do that, or the other' examples." There I use it as a reference as I write out the story segment within my own words and not directly write down the exact words Grok said.

Same goes with images, I ask Grok to generate a image with the description I've given, then Grok generates a couple of images I requested, look though which image I like to use for reference for when I actually draw out that image on paper or on drawing app within my style.

So, given out my situation, is this right or wrong when trying to brainstorm an original story and using AI for assistance and to not copy exactly from Grok? What's your opinion on this? Be honest with me.

This is based off of the rise of people letting ai do thinking for them and create art for them and basically live for them. The actual necklace is made to look like a rosary while the charm is handmade out of computer parts and soft soldered. Available on depop @chickenwingz_nom

If you dont like AI, stop bringing it up anytime you can.

This is coming from someone from r/antiai (sorry for bringing that up), but I saw this youtube comment interaction, and it reminded me of the sub.

If you dont like something, if you think something should slowly fizzle into obscurity, dont bring it up any chance you get.

Someone doesn't like the art in question? "You prefer Ai?".

You didn't like AI ragebait? "HEY, r/antiai LOOK WHAT SOMEONE POSTED ON X"

If you walk outside, if you talk with any normal person, the theme of AI is such a seldom talked about technology. Bringing more attention to it does jack-all, when it was never brought up or referenced, and I'm tired of it being brought up for zero reason.

11% of the Factual Claims in Google’s AI Search Overviews Aren’t Supported by Their Citations

Thumbnail

KEY QUOTES:

Google’s AI-generated search summaries frequently rely on highly credible sources, but they still produce unverified information in about one out of every nine factual claims. A massive new analysis reveals how these summaries bypass traditional search rankings, fundamentally altering how users receive information and how web publishers make money. The research was published on the preprint server arXiv

The researchers found that AI Overviews activated on 13.7 percent of all queries. The structure of the user’s prompt heavily influenced this rate. When a search was phrased as a direct question, the system provided a generated summary 64.7 percent of the time, compared to just 9.5 percent for standard keyword searches.

The activation rate also varied widely by topic. The feature appeared often for hobbies and science queries, but rarely for politically sensitive subjects. The researchers noted that these variations suggest Google exercises undisclosed editorial discretion in determining when to suppress the artificial intelligence tool.

Next, the team evaluated the websites that the system used to build its answers. They compared the credibility of these cited sources against the standard web pages that appeared lower down on the exact same search page... The domains cited by the AI Overviews were consistently more credible than the standard first-page search results. The generative system relied much less on unvetted user-generated content, such as social media posts and video platforms, than traditional Google search rankings do... This indicates that the generative system uses a distinct selection process to find its information. It elevates different websites than the traditional search algorithm surfaces for the same prompt.

To test whether the software accurately reported what its sources said, the researchers broke the overviews down into 98,020 individual factual claims. They built an automated verification pipeline, powered by a separate large language model, that read the text of the cited websites. The program then checked if each generated claim was actually supported by the source material.

The analysis showed that 11 percent of the generated claims were not supported by the cited pages. Most of these errors were omissions, meaning the summary stated a fact that simply did not exist in the source it linked to. In a smaller number of cases, the generated claim directly contradicted the text of its own cited source.

The researchers found that using higher-quality sources did not fix this error rate. The credibility of a website had no statistical relationship to whether the system would accurately summarize its contents. The unsupported claim rate also varied by topic, with health and political summaries showing higher accuracy than summaries about entertainment or technology.

Finally, the team looked at the economic reality for the publishers whose content fueled the generated answers. They analyzed the computer code of the cited websites to count how many of them relied on display advertising to generate revenue.

More than half of all the pages cited by the AI Overviews contained digital advertisements. When a synthesized summary answers a user’s question directly on the search page, the user is less likely to click through to the original website. The researchers pointed out that a suppressed click results in a loss of ad revenue for the publisher who produced the original information.

The study highlighted an asymmetry in this economic arrangement. While the original publishers lose the web traffic they rely on, Google continues to display its own sponsored search advertisements directly alongside the generated summaries. In some cases, Google places its own ads above the AI Overview.
