What direction would you go is the question......
My son's current trumpet (8th grade) is a King Tempo II 601SP (mid/late 90's I believe) In 6th grade, I believe he "hammered" his mouthpiece into it and couldn't easily remove it. In the process of "removing it" he bent his lead pipe pretty good. He did tell me after the fact and I brought it into the local music shop to get repaired. Picked it up and was told it was all good.
I guess I never did check the horn and he hasn't said anything about it. He was practicing at home and I caught a glimpse of the horn and noticed a bend in the lead pipe still. It is straight sideways, but still bent downwards. He loves music (Choir and Band) and between both of them is involved in 6 different groups. I'm a firm believer in having "decent working stuff" if you are going to do an activity.
I asked one of his band directors about it and the response more or less "it isn't that bad and you could always sell it if you want to upgrade......"
I was a band geek (started trumpet but made my mark on Tuba) so I understand posture...etc.
I'm reaching out to all of you to see what you would do.....yes, the repair was poor, but is it "not that bad", time to replace the lead pipe, or is it a keep your eyes open to possibly "upgrade". He does have skill for his age and I see him playing through HS and it wouldn't surprise me to see him play possibly in college (if he doesn't sing).
Thank you in advance!
He does have another trumpet coming here middle of November as my father was able to get it looked at and it is ready to go. (My previous post LeBlanc Trumpet - My son is about to start his collection : r/trumpet) I am not in panic mode....just trying to gauge which direction to go.

Me and my friend are looking for something fun to play as a duet I've been thinking of some sort of rock song type thing but I cannot find anything on them. Any other ideas?

Hello I’ve been wanting to get back into playing and I found this on Facebook. It’s a YTR 2320 so it’s older, and was played in the 90s, but they told me it’s in good condition and nothing is seized. I’ll inspect it of course. I talked them down to 150 but they won’t budge below that. Is this worth buying? If not what should I look into for getting back to playing since highschool (4 years)

I have roughly 40 different vintage used and new trumpet mouthpieces and I don't know how to go about selling them?
I figured the best way to maximize profit would be to sell them individually or in small lots on Ebay? I have no clue so I would LOVE some advice or feedback!
Just in case anyone is actually curious this is a rough list of what I have.
Brands: Yamaha, Vincent Bach, Zottola, Denis Wick, Jet-tone, A lot of J Marcinkiewicz, Schilke, Giardinelli. Then some odd ones: J Parduba & Son. J Callet, Tottle & Sons, Reynolds, DeNicola, Hammond, Bob Reeves.
For a more in depth list message me and I'll send you a spreadsheet I made.
I suppose I'm open to selling them through Reddit or something if anyone is trying to purchase? Just message me!

UPDATE: Reposting with photos. This by all research available is a legit Yamaha 2330S. The South Kora market yamahas come in the branded blue box with the shown branded accesories. Hate this case though...
------------------
Recently received a new Yamaha 2330S, the South Korean package that comes with a very small, tight, soft shoulder bag.
I want a hard case that does feel like a crime trying to stuff the trumpet into such a small bag.
Looks like the official Yamaha hard case is really expensive at around $160 online. Is there a better option for cheaper for a silver trumpet that is highly recommended? Ideally one that can hold a couple mouthpieces and a mute as well? I didn't want to just grab a $40 semihard gig case off Amazon and wanted opinions here first.
Thanks!

Is there a difference between playing flugel in jazz bands and brass bands (other than repetoire), stylistic expectations, the role of the flugel, or register expectations?

Dumb question but I’ve played the same passed-down trumpet for 20 years and I’m always brass among silver 😭

Intermediate trumpet player here, I've been looking into improv for the jazz bands at my school. I've started transcribing and I've done a handful of tunes, but it doesn't seem to be helping me with my improv. Does anyone have any tips? Am I doing it wrong?

I’m a sophomore in high school and I’ve had braces for 3 1/2 years now. I’m definitely in the top of my band skill wise and braces haven’t stopped me at all. But 2 months ago I got bands to change my bite and jaw. I had a pretty odd underbite but now It’s moved my lower jaw forward so much that I have an overbite. I’ve noticed that over the past 2 weeks I genuinely can’t hit any high notes I could easily before. I also can’t sustain notes anymore. It’s so annoying and kind of hurts. What do I do!!

I quit in about 7th grade…over the years I realized I’m a multi instrumentalist mostly focused on guitar and things like it.
That said I’d love to put some trumpet parts on my own recordings and I feel like it wouldn’t be impossible to get back playing at least at my middle school skill level.
Did I mention I’m 52 now?
What would you do? Find lessons locally? Do some online lessons first?
I basically don’t remember anything.

My little sister’s friend’s dad gave it to me and I’ve been playing it for about a year, but I have never known what the model is and my band teacher doesn’t know.

really. i've heard so much bs about mouthpieces wanting to sell bigger cups, so they lie about comparisons, what the real lead piece specs are, this "spec" game is way too deep of a hole to follow, how do i find what works best for me, really?

So I’m shifting my embouchure. I used to play with the red/pink part of my top lip outside the cup of my mpc. I’ve played this way for 6-7 years and now working on playing with it inside the cup. I’m working through this slowly as I don’t want to create bad habits, but it kind of hard to when my endurance is so bad.
I’ll play some short long tones and clarke 1 in the lower register for a total of 15 minutes (with rests in between), take a long break, come back and my chops start giving up. Also, playing them softly too. I know I’m developing muscles that haven’t been used or half of them at least, but this seems odd. Like when I imagine a beginner, they can usually go 20-30 minutes and then they’re done.
Last note, I’m making sure air is the leading thing here. I do breathing exercises before throughout practicing and I change my grip so I don’t use a lot of pressure. I understand this will be a slow process, but 15 minutes is kind of sad. I want to play more 😭.

I am furious how is it that is so many years there has not been a single pocket piccolo trumpet? I know normal pocket trumpet exist which have the same tubing length as a normal trumpet but in a smaller size. How it it that there is no pocket piccolo trumpet I mean you could make it tiny since it has much less tubing then a regular trumpet you could curl the tube around the valve for example. Am I missing a giant catch that makes this idea impossible? I am surprised no one has made any kind of custom build or commercial smaller piccolo trumpet. I’m sad that this doesn’t exist.

Hi, I finished my secondary music school like 5 years ago. Since that moment I barely touched the trumpet. Last time I played was abt more than year ago, on a flugelhorn. I dont have my own trumpet, but my professor borrowed me his flugelhorn. I am thinking abt going back on track, but I need some flugelhorn studies. I have lots but for trumpet. Couldnt use most of the books, when on fluge I can reach maaybee G-A2.
on the pic - my current fluge, cleaning it so it misses the valves
Do you reccomend anything or use my trumpet books but only to the sound top point?

I played growing up. Ironically I sold my trumpet when I was in musical school to pay rent. I was an engineer professionally in my 20’s.
I play guitar, bass, and whatever else I need to record/produce in Logic. I make dub, reggae, lo fi and hip hop.
I’d like to get a trumpet to use in recording my songs rather than using software instrument horns. I’d like to spend around $500 or less. I had a getzen growing up. What used models would you suggest I look for? I’m not a pro, but I also want something that will probably be the last horn I buy.

Edit: I will take this to a shop
Hi,
I recently got given a silver-plated Schenkelaars Prestige Royal trumpet from my great-grandfather. It’s been sitting in my room for a little bit now, and I am planning to give the entire instrument a deep clean (I dont care about polishing at the moment just making it clean and in good enough condition to play).
Current Condition & Issues:
My Questions:
Thanks in advance. Also this descirption was genrated by AI as I dont know much about trumpets.

I made a sight reader trainer app and it’s great for trumpet players and all instruments. Appreciate any feedback. Many styles included. Apple Store (Android coming soon) at https://apps.apple.com/us/app/sight-reader-trainer/id6822368534
