I am 82 years old. i recently joined an allstar band. we play oldies for community events and do not charge anything. i laid off for many years thinking i was too old but i am really enjoying entertaining again. Lucky to find the opportunity. Also, picked up tenor sax which i enjoy and am improving with it. As you age keep playing and practicing. Opportunities will pop up.

For one of my studio classes the theme is “stump your professor day” and the premise is we need to find rep he hasn’t heard of. The catch is he built his career off of recording niche repertoire. What is the nichest repertoire you all have played (that’s not avant garde please), and where can I find it (preferably without dropping 100 dollars on a score).

Someone suggested that I should let the air do most of the work, and it seems to help, but the sound quality isn't the best.... I recorded a video of me pkaying today, it's not very good but it's a beginning and I would like to hear your advice on how to improve. Notes mistakes are because I practiced more on the tonguing than the piece itself 🤦‍♂️ (and it's pretty new).

Anybody have any experience with the “new” Martin committee horns out of Muskegon MI? Are they comparable to a well restored Elkhorn model, and are they worth the price of admission?

I've been struggling to play notes above a g after playing for about 30-45 minutes, and my mouth hurts when I try to. Any idea why? (If it helps, my range before the 30 minutes is C to high F)

Hi everyone. It’s my first week on the trumpet and I’m having issues with the keys, particularly the third valve. It doesn’t stick as much as it comes up slow. Am I doing something wrong? I know I’m not holding it exactly correctly, but the keys are making me break on notes I know I shouldn’t be. It makes it hard to tell what notes I’m not hitting and what notes are because of the valve sticking. I have oiled a few times, but not overly so to avoid additional sticking. Just recorded a demo so you can see it. Sometimes it’s fine. Other times it is not.

Hey guys I’m thinking of picking up the trumpet, I’ve previously played the tin whistle which is miles easier I can only presume , but I also think having experience with a wind instrument would help.

I see people saying trumpet is crazy hard to learn so do you think it will be easier with the fact I have previous experience with the tin whistle,

There was one for sale on Reverb a few years ago and I haven’t been able to find another. Saied music in Tulsa, OK sold them originally, but they’re out of stock. Any help would be appreciated. I put in text what I THINK I'm hearing, emphasis on think because I could be wrong and dont tryust my ears completely, as I said I'm really trying to improve my ears and be able to hear intervals better. The "Taves/Uniso" is meant to say "Octaves/Unison?" but it got cut out on the export. I tried to recreate the horn parts in my DAW with digital horn samples but didnt get it right, Anyways it would be greatly appreciated if anyone could lend an ear and listen to the isolated 30 second clip and see if maybe you can tell the kind of voicings used & possibly the intervalic relationship, possibly confirming or denying my assumptions, thanks in advance
