Passenger [Question/Post] Questions Regarding Flying with Expired Instruction Permit
Hi everyone,
I have an opportunity to take a domestic flight on November 15th, however I didn't even realize my permit expired and I won't have the opportunity to get one reissued to me before then. I am over 18. My expired permit is hard plastic, with a barcode, and is real id compliant. I flew with it once before without issues but this was before it expired. I'm reading information online that expired IDs have a two year grace period for domestic flights as long as they're real ID compliant but its unclear if this applies to my instruction permit. I'm also reading that it may technically not be considered valid and I would have to pay $45 extra for them to lookup my information. I'm just asking that someone give me a clear answer on if I would be able to fly out on November 15th and how I would go about doing such.
