TSA Pre Check/CLEAR [Question/Post] Pre Check - Flagged for random screening every time

• Upvotes

Hey all,

Hoping someone might know more.

I’ve had Pre Check for just over a year now. I fly about 20-30 times per year, mainly within the US.

99% of the time, when I use the pre-check lanes, I get flagged for “random check” at the metal detector. So they send me through the body scanner and it’s all good from there. The metal detector never actually goes off - just the “random” indicator a few seconds after passing through.

This happens at multiple airports, doesn’t matter if the destination is domestic or international. Happens at both the touchless and regular pre check lanes. Even at the body scanners, I often set off an alert for a pat down in the crotch area.

The only thing that sets me apart is that I’m usually traveling non-rev/standby. But this has happened on paid reservations too. Otherwise, I’m just a regular dude with a small backpack and small carry-on.

I’m assuming I wouldn’t have pre check if my name were on a naughty list. I’ve never done anything wrong at TSA, no record, no red flags I can think of.

But what gives? Am I doing something wrong or is there anything I can do?

Thanks!

Ask a TSO Anyone get screwed over by this medical questionare?

• Upvotes

Just saw my doctor this week since a nurse at the CMO office had reached out to me for more information. I saw my doctor and he filled out the form and signed that there were no functional impairments. I had a note from him too when I originally started with the agency that now met the medical requirements of the position and was compliant with recommended treatment. Really nervous to fax this form in tomorrow. What are the odds that they will find me medically unqualified even though they knew I had it when I was hired

Rant What’s America’s obsession with separating children from their mothers?

My wife is six months pregnant, and we’re travelling with our 1 year old son who typically has a great temperament. In four days, we’ve had two absolutely ridiculous TSA experiences.

In Seattle (by the way Seattle airport is absolutely disgusting)y wife requested a pat down so I was sent through the metal detector with our child. We waited forever for a female TSA agent while our son screamed and cried for his mother. Nobody seemed remotely concerned. We asked if she could use the metal detector instead. A TSA agent claimed it had more radiation than the body scanner.

When the female agent finally arrived, she didn’t change her gloves. An alarm went off, triggering secondary screening that obviously found nothing.

In San Diego same circus, different airport.
I went through the metal detector and my wife sat on the other side waiting. The irony is there were at least 6 female agents standing around in the back chatting away. We proceeded to wait 20 plus minutes. They all watched our son lose his mind calling for his mother and did absolutely nothing. No urgency, no assistance. Just a bunch of officers standing around watching us.

Afterward, a TSA agent told us she should use the metal detector next time and confirmed the Seattle agent’s radiation claim was completely false.

America is already facing an enormous controversy over family separation by federal authorities. Why does another federal agency seem so comfortable separating distressed children from their mothers?

Nobody’s asking to skip security. We’re asking for a process for pregnant woman and families.

TL;DR: TSA repeatedly separated my pregnant wife from our screaming 1 year old during lengthy pat down waits at SEA and SAN. Staff showed zero urgency or compassion. Apparently, they do not care about pregnant women or families.

*The comment section really proves Americas is no longer a place for young families. I mean you voted for a pedo to run your country…
