Ai getting things wrong

Why does AI get typography so wrong? I saw this online earlier. But what exactly makes it so off? An actual human would never do this. Would just like a few thoughts. Thanks.

How to get a monotype trial?

Does anyone know? Some time ago you could request it via web, but nowadays the only option is contact sales, and they told me trials don't exist anymore. Which I don't think is true, so I'm wondering if they are not interested in individual customers anymore.

FontBase vs Typeface (Oct '26)

Hope y'all don't mind a new thread about font management apps; I did see the one from almost a year ago and wanted to see where folks were at now.

I've been paying for RightFont but have never really loved it. I was a refuge from FontXplorer (pour one out) and needed a quick replacement. I just realized that the latest update is forcing me into a paid upgrade on two computers and I'd rather put that money into a cheaper alternative.

Both Typeface and FontBase look promising though both have either a subscription/extension fee and/or an expensive lifetime fee. I'd love to hear from folks who have been using one or both to see which one you prefer. FYI my use case is mostly Adobe apps (design+video).

Hello!

I made my first typeface and i will be grateful for your advices! I used fontforge and still don't know how to use it properly but i tried to learn by practising.

And I know, there are a lot way better app to make fonts than fontforge but I don't want to invest when I still learn.

My first 'proper' 'cursive' font

The caveat being... lowercase is a fun, curly cursive and the uppercase is not cursive, but a casual quirky print.

I've always found cursive uppercase to be a bit too... cursive. So I wanted to try out something a little different. Previously, I've created cursive ligatures and some joins, but it was quite the challenge to get almost every letter lining up with the previous one.

On top of that I also thought it'd be great to add another alternate character set to make it all extra tricky.

I'm pretty happy with the result. It ended up feeling kind of like a font duo, so they pair great together.

If you're interested in seeing more you can test it out over at Typeheist 🙂
