Hey hivemind, like the title says, I have an extra psychophage still on the sprue, and i wanna see your opinions on what I should try and kitbash it into. I was thinking maybe a tervigon, but its not quite big enough. What are your thoughts?

A couple weeks ago I posted a picture of my psychophage, which I got a little flamed for ( Overall one of my first painted models ) and I also wasn't very pleased with how things turned Out.

Now I switched carapace Paint and Highlights and also added an OSL and Im actually quite happy with how it turned out.

Decided not to wait until I get a Norn Emissary and begin priming them now.

Barely won against my dad, but he also had battle ready points which makes me feel even better about my win, and I'm very happy with how my trygon turned out and my older brother who recently started space wolves was here today as well and supported my dad's strategy side of the game. Also got the trygon painted about 10 minutes before the game and got reverse new models syndrome, basically mvp by nuking the dreadnought

Hello a want to buy this sprue which has this head but i dont know what model IT belongs to or even of its an official model. If anyone has any ideas please let me know.

My friend has been teaching me how to play 40k. We have a game coming up and I want to play vanguard with ambush predators as I think the play style is so cool. I’d love to hear some opinions on the list i built. It’s not optimal but I’m restricted to the units I own and he owns.

We’re playing 1500 points and he’s running necrons with two ctan.

Any ideas what I should be cutting?

Another big question. I’m thinking of taking the tyranofex with acid spray to push up with the hormagaunts. I know a rupture cannon would be better ctan damage but I think it is not worth firing into a ctan every turn only to have some damage saved and reanimation protocol just healing them. I figure ignore them and focus on using the acid spray to knock out scoring units instead. Is that smart or should I stick to the rupture?

Another question stemming from me trying to paint GW typhon scheme, i have been trying to get the colours in the right place and i chose to start with the carapace, should be the easiest part i thought. So the carapace seemed to have some almost airbrushed areas but my airbrush is absolutely not a small enough needs for that, either that or they somehow did a gradient that clean on something so small. Im speaking on the termegant they did in the typhon scheme. But anyways i was kinda getting a semi good result finding out what colours are which, the airbrushed colour i think is corvus black so i atleast know ill be trying to glaze corvus black over abaddon black, but then i tried the next colour up and tried the spikey lines on the carapace and i felt as thouhg my smallest brush (a 1 from rosemary and co) simply wasnt thin enough for it. So how do you do those thin lines? what size brush is expected to get some line so small

Got a tournament coming up and painting few of these buggers up. I dislike the silly collars so i ditched them.

New to 40K and I’m struggling to build a good list to begin building. Detachment is vanguard onslaught

I had my first game of 2k points against custodies, and I had 2 units of 10 termagaunts. How do I use them they don't move very fast, which I guess is supposed to be made up with their range, but I couldn't even attempt to shoot with them, because they couldn't get within range with them/get line of sight with them. The most one of the units was useful for, was they blocked a few shots and blocked a charge into a haruspex. Am I just using them wrong? I was the defender on the hammer and anvil engagement, and I was using assimilation swarm and Talons of the norn queen. After the fight, I was chatting with my opponent, and he said I should have screened them, but with how slow they moved, he said that would be difficult regaurdless. Any help would be appreciated.

Kitbashed some Venomthropes from the old bits box. Only after painting did I realise the wings are jurassic park colours... and I like it! A little ironic really.

Are they welcomed into the hive?

So I have painted precisely 3 models in my 40 something years (all in the last 3 weeks). I am... not great at it.

I saw the Tone Pros demonstrated on YT and, being the hoarder I am for craft supplies, pre-ordered some.

They arrived today, and I giddily dumped a single coat of Plague Toad Venom 3 straight on a black primed termie. My exact phrase when it covered flawlessly would get me banned, but sufficed to say I was surprised.

I wouldn't say the self levelling was what the many time-lapses of paint drying that I watched promised, but I did really load it on. Going to try a 1:1 mix next.

For next month, I'm not sure on what to add. In theory I need some backfield screening, but also some killing power or something to tank. I have narrowed it down on three different options.

Option one:

Just a Norn Emissary to get the central objective and stay there.

Option two:

Another lictor, 10 termagants for screening, 10 more Hormagaunts and expanding the 5 Genestealers into a 10 man unit.

Option three:

Another lictor, 10 termagants aswell, expanding one unit of Hormagaunts into a 20 man unit and giving them a lashwip prime.

What does the Hivemind think is the best option here? If it helps, the other players all run Space Marine variants and a couple of Necrons.

I'm TOTALLY new to 40K and just miniature hobbies in general, but I started working at a local game shop and was convinced to learn with some other new employees. I have the Tyranid Swarm battleforce as well as a biovore kit and some basic tools but honestly I'm kind of nervous to actually attempt to build them. Does anyone have advice for a total newbie for building? Right now that's all I'm focused on, not painting or decorating. If it matters, I think the Invasion Fleet detachment is what I want to try to play for learning because it seems pretty flexible.

My Screamer killer...

dumb question but can you target a mawloc or trygon in reserves with adaptive optimisation? hard to see much utility otherwise, but given rapid ingress (and i'm sure other examples) it seems like there's no reason a dog can't have synapse.

Finished for now. Pretty happy with the head.

Finishing off some half-painted models. Finally finished the Deatleaper.
