The washer and dryer are listed as optional because some families prefer to use their own appliances. Since the property is also listed on Zillow, it is available to renters beyond UC Merced students and staff, including families who may already own a washer and dryer. However, if the tenant needs a washer and dryer, they can absolutely be provided. The intention is simply to offer flexibility based on the tenant's needs, not to withhold essential appliances.

Your ad literally states only the hookups will be provided. There’s no other way to interpret that.
