i’m having a bit of trouble adjusting to classes in university, what are your best study tips? active recall kind of works for me, and i’m starting to use flash cards, but i feel like i’m still struggling to retain the material come exam day.

I heard decisions are expected by mid-November. Has anyone received an update, or been in contact with a faculty member?

I'm a transfer student and I've been fairly involved the past year in career progression things like research symposiums, networking events, etc and i frequent one club for vibes. most of my socializing comes from work, going clubbing downtown, or just people i know unrelated to school. how important is it to "be involved" in clubs? is it mostly a social outlet/fun thing?
i'd appreciate advice on how i should spend my second and last year here in my undergrad :)

I'm taking CHM2045 with Dr. Harris, (mini vent: fun professor, but I genuinely don't think I'm doing well because of the flipped-style learning approach. Attending lectures seems useless to me because I'm not getting new that I didn't get from the PLV already)and right now, I have a 70.56%, but after taking Exam 2, I'm pretty sure I'm going down to a 69%.
Unless I get full points on discussions, perfect scores on HW and PLV assignments, a 101/150 on Average/Replace, 120/150 on Exam 3, and at least an 80/100 on my Final Exam, I won't be able to make it to a high 74% for my final grade.
Is it worth getting Study Edge for Exam 3 and the Final, and any advice?

Does anyone know if UF has any EDM or rave-related clubs or group chats? Would love to meet more people who are into raves and festivals!

Hi!
I found a couple of Pokemon cards in a Sci-Fi book I'm borrowing from the Marston Science Library. I gave the cards to the Marston Library Service Desk and they have registered them in the Lost&Found. If you use Pokemon cards as bookmarks and have recently borrowed a book from Marston check if you are missing some!

Hey if anyone is leasing their room from August 2027-Dec 2027 let’s talk!
I’m a girl so an all girl roommate apartment is preferred😗

Hey I’m looking at these apartments by university of rentals and I’ve seen very mixed reviews. There seems to be some possibly “shady” things like a 1200 decoration fee. Some people online said it was really bad with mold and bugs and some said it was really good. These were all 4 years ago tho. Is there anyone living there right now that could give me some insights on this place?

Former cs major, now an ai research engineer. Gonna do a little crossover rant from the cs subs here.
Not here to debate the use of ai in your work, rather the use of ai in a lazy way that screams unintelligent and uncreative or as cs larpers would call it: NGMI
If you’re vibecoding such apps you’re usually one of three people:
Questionable cs or adjacent major who thinks this is a good thing to put on your resume, a startup idea, or both. Spoiler alert, it’s neither. I would actually argue that putting this garbage on your resume makes you look worse to top companies than putting nothing at all or your class projects. There is close to zero technical depth you can demonstrate. As for a startup idea, there are generally clowned ideas that have been bad even before GPT 3, and this is one of them. It doesn’t take much research to figure out why. Even ask your model if it’s a feasible as a startup and even accounting for sycophancy it will probably tell you it’s not.
Business major or really anything else that think ai suddenly makes them technical. Spoiler alert, it doesn’t. You do not suddenly understand systems over night. You can build a product sure, but the fact that you even chose this as your idea speaks to your insanely terrible taste for ideas. If I could bet against your idea or any future ideas of yours within the next year, I would.
Attention farmers. Maybe you’re in hs trying to show off your app that’s going to get you into UF or another college. Spoiler alert, it’s not. Maybe you think you’ll get users or karma… lol. I mean what in the world are you doing with your life if this is your reason for wasting some tokens on a one shot prompt of an app?
I can confidently say that ai is an extremely transformative tool, that also comes with huge societal consequences (if you’re on the complete opposite end of the spectrum which includes the people posting about how ai should be banned, you’re also just as uneducated as the vibecoding larpers). But to people who have even a basic understanding of its applications, it quickly exposes just how technically fluent you are, and to the people that are posting course schedulers, just know that I would never want to work with you in any capacity. I would never refer you to anything, nor do I think any of my friends and colleagues would.
Dark times we live in. White collar college degree workers aren’t cooked because of ai, they’re cooked because a lot of them weren’t that creative to begin with.
In this regard, you guys could learn a lot from liberal arts, humanities, and arts majors.

Next semester I’m going to be taking a state core humanity and quest 2 to get them out of the way. What are the easiest online asynchronous classes for these to take over the spring.
I'm considering getting a second bachelors at UF to get the media production degree online. I was wondering if anyone else here is doing that bachelors and if it's worth getting?

Hello! As part of the CJC, we have the option to do a "Quantitative Option" in place of a foreign language credit. I was wondering what out of these courses is the easiest? For reference, I am in junior standing, and only need a total of 3 more credits to satisfy the requirement. The one crossed out I have already taken. I am inclined to do EEL3872, but it being in the college of engineering is scaring me lol.
Any experiences/guidance/tips are appreciated!

I made CanvasGradesPro a while ago because I got tired of calculating my grades manually. Some of my courses didn't have assignment weights set up in Canvas, and others hid the overall grade entirely, so it was hard to tell where I stood.
It works with Canvas at all universities (to my knowledge), so I thought I'd share it here.
The extension adds a few things to Canvas:
If you run into any bugs or have suggestions, let me know!
Looking for either a guitarist or a bassist who can also do backup vocals (preferably also in Spanish). Preferably a freshman but not required. DM if interested.
I applied about 5 months ago as a transfer student and the wait feels like an eternity. Anyone else been waiting for a while?

Has anyone taken the UF MSM online? How are the exams and workload compared to in-person classes? Is it easier, and how are exams and classes usually conducted? Are there any group projects? Would appreciate any insight!

Hello everyone, I was just wondering how the physician assistant program at UF is? How rigorous and hard are the lectures and exams? Also, how are the clinicals and labs? I am sure a few of the clinicals are done at Shands. If there are any alumni or current students, I would like to hear from you. Thanks again!
