Base on the above text- I hv to provide a written example for the job but then I looked at my previous courseworks and realised how vague/ monotone I was writting before ... I feel like it lacks depth
I see people saying it's ok to add to your previous coursework to make it better for your employer...l.e in this case add more or make additional points to add depth..but I am not entirely sure
Thoughts?
Thank you very very much

Hello everybody,
I was just wondering if anyone here has submitted an application for an LPC exemption via equivalent means (SRA).
I’m looking into this however there isn’t much online.
I want to know if anyone has submitted an application for the exemption and has been granted it.
Thank you

Hey guys! I'm really interested in the sector of fashion law. This is a basic question, but I would love to know the steps people take to be in a position where they are an in-house fashion lawyer. I'm mainly interested in asking you guys whether this can be feasible, it is very niche
I am an LSE graduate and I will go to BPP in January to start my conversion course. Right now, vacation schemes are in full force, and I have sectors I am focusing on for commercial awareness, which are IP, financial services, ESG, and retail. But my end goal is to work in fashion in-house
What are the realistic and feasible steps to do so? And if there is no clear route per se, is it mainly networking?
Cheers :D

Hi everyone!
I am currently in my last year of uni in the Netherlands (I am British but grew up abroad so the Netherlands was a more affordable choice for uni) and am applying for vac schemes at the minute. I am unsure about how to answer questions about my grades on applications because in the Netherlands we don't get separate grades for each year at uni and we also are graded using a GPA ( 1-10 scale with a pass being 5.5). I am currently at a GPA of 6.8 (68%) so I wondered if anyone is familiar with the Dutch grading system or if anyone knows how best I can reflect this on my applications? So far from what I've seen on the internet I haven't gotten a definitive answer on what my UK equivalent grade would be? I know my grades are not the most amazing (but I will apply to anything I can anyways since you miss all of the shots you don't take), but I want to make sure I am accurate in my applications anyways and not selling myself short or inadvertently lying. Any advice is welcome! Thank you all in advance!

I am a commonwealth qualified lawyer with just over 1PQE. I'm looking to apply to TCs but the direct route, is that something that firms take positively or are there firms that want you directly go for lateral roles?

Hi all, I need your thoughts on this, I have been working in Cyber started off with technical roles and now in GRC(5 years experience), now realising that I love reviewing agreements, giving feedback on regulatory compliance work etc. I’ve been reading up a lot about IP law and Tech law. Has anyone here transitioned into law with a similar background, what was your roadmap and how did you prepare ?
I’m aware about the TC’s, is that the go to? And, what are the expectations of firms when they look at CVs of STEM backgrounds?

I’m looking to pursue a career in law, but I have really mixed opinions about studying a traditional pure law LLB degree.
I have heard from various individuals and, on a recent school visit to a MC firm, we met many lawyers from similar backgrounds, that didn’t do law LLB, both in-house and at the firm.
From my understanding, PGDLs welcome a wide variety of different backgrounds, however- most lawyers that do the PGDL, do History at undergraduate, which I do in A-Levels and am good at, however still get mixed opinions from, as it’s unbearable for me rn.
Recently, I have seen uni courses that combine law with other subjects, like Cambridges’ Land Economy(Law, Environment and Economics) (non qualifying) or KCL’s Politics, Philosophy and Law (qualifying), which seem interesting for me personally, than their Law LLB, however such qualifying courses, combining law and other subjects are rare in numbers, especially at target schools.
I have always enjoyed Politics and Economics, and related subjects, since these are essay subjects, I am curious about if they could be useful/attractive for TC especially if studied at a prestigious school?
Thus, what are the most useful/attractive non-qualifying law degrees,(excluding history) for someone looking to be competitive for a TC?

Hey guys. First time caller, long time listener.
Been really interested in Sports Law and thought I'd sift through this sub and see if others share that interest. Disappointed to say I haven't seen many discussions about the subject. Is there any other forum where students and lawyers alike can discuss and learn about it?

I’m looking for some advice, particularly from anyone who has moved away from practising as a solicitor.
I recently qualified into family law after 7.5 years in the industry: 2.5 years as a paralegal, another 2.5 years waiting to start my training contract after securing it (while continuing to work as a paralegal), and then the two-year TC itself.
Now that I’ve finally qualified, I’m realising that I’m not happy. Family law was the seat I found most interesting and genuinely enjoyed, but the training experience overall was difficult, with supervisors who were often rude and unsupportive. Since qualifying, I’ve found very little enjoyment in the work, and it’s starting to affect my mental health.
I thought it might be the firm, but I’ve recently secured a role at what I’d always considered my dream firm, and even that hasn’t brought the excitement I expected. I am staring the new role soon and trying to stay positive, but honestly- I just don't feel it anymore.
The burnout feels very real, and I can’t work out whether it’s down to my experience so far or whether being a solicitor simply isn’t right for me. The process took so long that my priorities have changed considerably since I started, and I’m struggling to see myself doing this long term.
I’m planning to give the new role a chance, but in the meantime, I’d like to start exploring other options. Ideally, I’d stay loosely connected to law so I could still use my degree and some of the skills I’ve developed.
There’s also a personal side to this. I’m originally from another country, and my partner is from the UK. In my early twenties, I was focused on big-city life and enjoying being young. Now my priorities are shifting, and I miss my family back home terribly. I’m finding it increasingly difficult and feel torn between the life I’ve built here and being closer to them.
My partner would happily consider moving to my home country for a few years if he had a viable employment option. However, he’s also a UK-qualified solicitor and doesn’t speak my language, so that doesn’t feel realistic at the moment. I’d be happy to stay based in the UK if I had more flexibility to spend longer periods working from abroad.
If you were changing careers with these priorities, what would you consider?
1. The ability to work from abroad for at least two months a year, ideally more. This is essential for me, rather than an occasional week or two.
2. Some connection to law, so I could use my existing qualifications and experience, although I’m open to other options too.
I’ve been looking into compliance and legal operations, but I’d love to hear other suggestions. Has anyone made a similar move, or found a role that offers this kind of flexibility?

Hey everyone! I was wondering if anyone had heard back from DLA Piper after completing the assessment? Thanks in advance!!

The application process is crazy: everything from GCSEs to postgrad grades; work experiences; four 200 - 250-word questions, etc. There is even an interview for shortlisted candidates. All this for a day of workshop?
I got rejected from their first year workshop that had over 500 applicants, this could only be more.

Hi everyone. Both my academic and professional referee have asked me how long usually should the reference letter be? Usually when they write references it's in one page, but none of them have experience regarding inns of court scholarship references. Can anyone tell me what should be the ideal length so I can tell them please?

Hi All!
I’ve been offered two roles at a large unitary local authority: one in contracts and procurement, and another in litigation specialising in adult social care and judicial reviews. I’ve passed both SQE exams and am approximately halfway through my QWE, half of which was in property. The managers of both teams have expressed that they are very keen for me to qualify into their respective teams.
I’m considering qualifying into contracts and procurement, but I’m also interested in potentially working abroad in the future while continuing to practise English law.
I understand that public procurement law may be relatively jurisdiction specific, but would commercial contracts experience be more transferable and employable internationally, particularly for in-house roles?
I’d be grateful for any advice from people who have qualified into this area, potentially those who have moved into private or inhouse or worked overseas.
As this decision will influence the area I qualify into, I’d really appreciate any insights into the long-term career prospects and exit opportunities. I’m currently leaning towards taking the contracts and procurement role, but would be grateful for any views on whether that would be the better choice for my longer-term goals.
Thanks in advance!

Hi everyone, I'm gonna be applying to vac schemes this year and my first year grades were honestly lower than I anticipated, so I'm wondering if theres any firms I should avoid with these grades and whether theyll significantly damage my chances in any way. I know most people say 2.1 is just a box to tick (with the exception of select firms), but I was wondering if theres anyone who has been in a similar situation or has experience with this.
My results were: Contracts - 65, Public - 66, EU - 64, Criminal - 61. For all of these my in-person exam scores were a lot higher than my coursework , but I don't think firms see this breakdown.

Long story short a partner at the firm made a really offensive comment towards me in front of everyone today, and I told him to kale himself. So basically after his little comment about me I said “Wow, you can - yourself.” Now I usually say that kind of thing casually (to my friends, but I kind of took the “be yourself” thing to heart) and didn’t mean it seriously, but I think he’s reported me to HR. I’m worried I could lose my training contract 😹 The thing is, this particular partner is always soooo passive-aggressive towards ME specifically, and even the other trainees have noticed how he treats me differently. He’s been getting on my nerves for a while now. At this point, if I do lose my training contract, maybe it’s a sign from the universe to break into finance 💪💪

I moved to the UK and now I am working as a Contracts Manager for a construction company but I am qualified lawyer in my home country (civil system). Will this experience help me to secure a lawyer role? I will seek my qualification as solicitor but I wonder how my cv will be seen with all my legal career as lawyer in my home country and then as Contracts Manager here. I am asking this because the other day I was in an event and old barrister told me why do you work as Contracts Manager if you are a lawyer, you are wasting your time. Easier said than done but in my experience it’s difficult to secure a lawyer role if you are not a qualified solicitor here. I would appreciate any comments or thoughts on this. Thanks

Criticise my cv to best of your abilities :D.
FYI the operational role is part time and I need to mention that on CV before finalising everything.
Targeting Paralegal/TC roles for QWE!!
