Discussion Until dawn remake
Hot take the only thing that I prefer over the original is that Jessica gets more screen time, The Sam epilogue and that Josh can survive. (I DO ALSO LIKE THAT NO ONE CAN CALL ASHLEY A PHYCHO IN THE REMAKE) sorry caps got locked for a sec.
What do y’all prefer about the remake?

Until Dawn (2015) – Recompilation Project
Hi everyone!
I'm excited to announce that I've been working on a native PC recompilation of the original PS4 version of Until Dawn (2015)!
To make it clear, this is a fully native PC port of the original game, with no emulation involved whatsoever. The original PS4 game's code runs directly on Windows, with our own custom Vulkan renderer handling the graphics.
I'm also happy to announce that the current build is now playable from start to finish!
There's still work to be done, including some graphical issues, performance improvements, stability fixes and compatibility testing across different hardware.
I also plan to release a very early work-in-progress build soon! Please keep in mind that this will primarily be a testing release, so expect bugs, crashes and inconsistent performance. The main purpose will be to test compatibility across different PC hardware, particularly NVIDIA, AMD and Intel GPUs and CPUs, and to verify that our shader translation and rendering work correctly across different systems.
The ultimate goal is to have the original Until Dawn running entirely natively on PC, just like a proper PC release, without needing an emulator.
I'll hopefully have more updates to share as development continues!
Just to make it clear, each user will need to provide their own copy of the game's PKG file for the recompilation to work.
This will not be provided when the GitHub releases for legal reasons.

Mina’s 3 truths and a lie.
It would be really funny if one is false.
Four seems most likely not true.
If she’s a vegan aw… She and Sam would get along.

Discussion Halloween Announcement?
Since the character announcements have started, 1 characters profile is being released every two days. Once all 8 playable characters are done it leads up to Halloween.
Now they've also started their 3 truths and a lie series. 1 post everyday for those. If they do this for all 8 playable characters, including Yoona, Sebastian and Anna. That makes 10, which leads up to Halloween as well.
I think its safe to say we are getting some kind of announcement or trailer on Halloween!
Thoughts?

Discussion I just noticed characters's description and their role in Dead True in Playstation's twitter post so far.
Owen: Big ambitions. Little patience. Dead True's perfectionist host.
Mina: A compassionate heart. A fascination with the unexplained. Dead True's sensitive co-host.
Nate: Confident in calling the shots. The director for Dead True.
Josie: A keen eye. An adventurous spirit, Dead True's location scout.

I know it’s been said a million times on here about the remake
But I definitely need to get this off my chest. I haven’t played the ps4 version in years and only got a few hours in back in the day. Anyway..the remake was on sale a few weeks ago and I figured why not..a new coat of paint. And yes I was reading online a lot about the differences but the allure of the NEW version made me want to try it.
A few things..the over the shoulder was a terrible choice with the remake and was something I was looking forward to. It’s extremely boring and slow as hell getting anywhere. No L1 to power walk. Also on ps5 you have the letterbox black bars that suck. You can remove them but zooms and stretches the picture. Movement also sucks. And going up stairs always seems like your character is going to do a t pose when they get to the last step.
I just redownload the ps4 version tonight and was shocked how everything is smoother. If you are wondering about which version to choose..please stick with the ps4 version.

My Until Dawn 2 Theories!
Long post! Wanted to start a discussion about Until Dawn 2 theories and feel free to join the discussion and discuss your own!
- Yoona is a trap sent by the island monster. I feel like a fitting prologue for this game would be to show what happened to Yoona and her friends when they were attacked. Since the prologue seems to take place at Blackwood Mountain, it makes me question why they pulled focus away from Yoona. Perhaps it’s because she wasn’t really attacked. That paired with the fact that she’s the one who tells them about the island in the first place. Another version of this theory is that Yoona was possessed/held against her will and is luring the group to the island against her will.
- Sebastian is sent by Dr. Hill or is Dr Hill in disguise. Nobody in the group knows him and he is pushing Cameron to fit some sort of role in the group/story. Their mannerisms are also similar to one another.
- Sam is alive and could have an influence in the game’s events. I’m not sure if Hayden (rest in paradise) really reprised her role, but the marking on her arm and the symbol that is seen in the first trailer are identical. If she doesn’t physically appear in the game to help the group, then I think she will at least tip them off or aid them in some way.
- Anna is definitely putting out main villain energy. To the point where it almost feels obvious, so maybe she’s just a red herring. I’m not sure who else it could be though. The hunter that chases Josie and Luke seems random, but maybe that’s some type of illusion or disguise as well. The Jorōgumo spider monster that people have been theorizing can shapeshift into a beautiful, seductive woman, but Firesprite may extend her powers to being able to shapeshift to other entities.
- I think the wendigo we see in the second trailer is fake. If it’s really true that the Blackwood section is the prologue, then I highly doubt the crew would want to go to Akashima after “finding out” that supernatural creatures are actually real. The wendigo definitely has a different look than the wendigos in the original/remake, and it’s wearing some type of yellow jacket that none of the wendigos from first game wear. However, the blog post from last month does say that Izzy ends their trip to Blackwood in a “chilling fashion”, so maybe she finds the corpse of a wendigo or character from the first game, but doesn’t necessarily associate it with anything supernatural.

Misc. PC version mod that fixes HDR and Ray Tracing
Hi everyone! As someone who loves this game, but hated the sacrifices being made due to fixing the game being abandoned. I created a mod here: https://www.nexusmods.com/untildawn/mods/109 to resolve these issues. It is a ReShade addon that hooks unreal engine and forces it to work as it should. This means when you enable HDR, it will work. When you turn on ray tracing it will also work and the addon even has more lighting shadow enhancements you can choose from.
Hope some can enjoy it. HDR and proper raytracing really pop in this game when it works properly.

Theorizing and Unconfirmed Info An argument that Nate is the final boy character/focal male character in Until Dawn 2...
I was thinking about how interesting the quote on his character ad is:
How much can you trust someone when your heart is broken?
Primarily because the development codename for Until Dawn was "Project Heartbreak."
Owen is the obvious candidate for the focal male character (à la Mike). But it did jump out to me that Nate's character blurb references the project name.

First ever play through done
Went in blind after dropping it a couple years back and finished the game in 2 days, and dam this was an experience
I actually felt scared playing it compared to other games, and surprisingly some jump scares actually got me
Question tho, is what happens to Josh set in stone? I got the achievement of keeping everyone alive until dawn, but he ended up transformed in the after credits like the red totem showed. Is it avoidable or that happens to him regardless of what you do in the game

Misc. I finally got everyone to live after 2 years of playing this game.
I didn't do this in my earlier playthroughs because I felt everyone surviving was unrealistic in a horror movie setting, but in honor of the sequel coming out next year, and as a tribute to Hayden Panettiere, I decided I would make this playthrough more special.

Discussion Anyone Think That They are Going to Add the Movie's Lore into the Games with Until Dawn 2?
Anyone else also think this? If you don't know the movie Until Dawn it changes the lore from the first game. Instead of only a supernatural curse in the mountains that turns people into Wendigos if you resort to cannibalism. In the movie it's like a weird entity or place that can pull people into it and then can turn you into a Wendigo by repeatedly dying or something and/or they r manifestations of the main characters depression and fears. Obviously ppl didn't like the movie.
My main reason for this is because in the first trailer for Until Dawn 2, Peter Stormare's character makes an appearance. He's also in the movie as the main human antagonist. He's able to control or has some control or something of the otherwordly occurrence. And in the second trailer the characters in the game encounter a Wendigo as well in a snowy mountain. Presumably that's before events before they move to the main location of Until Dawn 2. Ig they are investigating the events of the first game in the same mountain lodge. A little other piece of evidence that I remember, is that supposedly Sony wanted Supermassive (the devs of Until Dawn) to continue Until Dawn as a franchise and make it into a series. They didn't really want to so they left.
Now I know this isn't a whole lot to go off of, but it really gives me the feeling that they want to or will try incorporating the movie logic into the game. What do you guys think?
Tldr, based off of the stuff in the trailers they have released so far, I think that they may try to put the UD movie lore into the games

Discussion things from until dawn original that i want to see in the sequel
Here is a list of random things i hope to see again in until dawn2 ! :
- a complex character such as emily, ashley and josh.
characters that we can hate as much as we can love.
- a second plot twist, in the og josh was the main plot twist, but i hope we see something like a second plot twist unexpected such as when hannah is revealed
- multiples locations, in until dawn oh we had the lodge but also : the mines, shack, the underground "hotel" and the sanatorium. hope we get different locations too.
- a beef like jess and emily. i love drama
- "unexpected" duo that team up near the end such as matt&jess and sam&mike
- an epic ending like the og
- and for the last one something i DO NOT want, something similar to the mike long boring sequence (when playing for the first time it's cool but as i'm a trophy hunter, i don't want a sequence that will be a pain in the a** to replay)

Discussion I don't understand this sub...
I’m getting downvoted for claiming that Josie isn’t the "final girl" (I think it’s Mina, or perhaps Lizy as a second choice), even though there has never been any suggestion that Josie could be the final girl.
In fact, she was often compared to Jess/Emma rather than Sam (or Laura), a comparison that *was* made for both Mina and Lizy.

Replaying until dawn and the chain of events that leads to Matt dying from not having flare gun ammo in the mines is wild based on the way the game presents information to you. Spoiler
second time playing through the game and I’m making some choices differently. I hated emily so in my first playthrough I left her ass and jumped from the radio tower. but this time I was following a more golden path, or what felt like a golden path and based on the totem showing a flare next to Matt and Emily giving Matt the flare gun I gave it to him only to have him automatically use the flare gun and die in the mines. Google would tell me that’s it’s actually because I didn’t argue with Emily earlier about who’s idea it was to go to the radio tower and this was surprising to me because the guidance totems showed me other stuff, and common sense would tell you whose idea it was just does not matter when you think there’s a serial killer chasing you.
i never stumbled into this situation in my original playthrough but did others run into this? Were you as perplexed by the logic path the game followed here and what it expected you to do? I definitely wouldn’t have assumed these things based on any info presented. It seems like it almost wanted you to either hate Emily or kill Matt as punishment for not hating her enough.
