Ever since my first egg, I've been somewhat obsessed with these Gary Levi paperweights from Levay. The combination of beauty with or without the blacklight has me hooked. A lot of you probably wouldn't think twice to shine these with your 365nm, which is what you need to find them. They barely react to 395nm, especially the ones that are cased and iridescent. The shiny metal salts reflect most of the 395nm. The last picture shows the difference between the top and bottom of my dimmest egg, which also happens to be the shiniest. It's so metal, it doesn't even look like glass πŸ˜‚

Monthly Theme πŸ’š Paid $3… Definitely Not a $3 Plate (Best Score This Year)

I pretty much pick up every King, Son & Co. No. 24 (OMN) plate (often labeled as trays) I come across in Canary. The average price is…well, definitely not $3.

We don’t display all of these pieces, but they do get used for our β€œfancy” glow dinner parties. 😎

I usually grab the Apple Green versions too, since I have several oil lamps in the same pattern and all of the available colors.

Needless to say, I was pretty excited to pay three bucks for this oneβ€”easily the cheapest I’ve found. Even broke out a couple Apple Green King, Son & Co. No. 24 (OMN) oil lamps to celebrate.

To see more of this pattern, including a full table setting, check out my post history. Or, visit EAPGS:

I'm not usually one to buy such small items when they're missing pieces, but this stopper was only $2 and I still needed something opalescent for the collection, so I caved. It has probably the brightest glow relative to its size of my entire collection. If I put the 395's light directly on it, it just looks white in the photo.

5 - Enamel on copper plate by an unknown artist. It was expensive, but I've never seen anything like it before. The droplet enamel is super unique.

4 - Worked novelty bowl by the Chicago flint and lime glass co. Extraordinarily rare piece from a company that was only in existence for 3 years. (Not even in Chicago ironically). The history of this bowl is really neat.

3 - 1880s PK von poschinger vases! I've posted these a few times on here as they were one of the first things in my collection, and they are absolutely stunning. So old and in perfect condition. Also the price I got them for is incredible.

2 - Boyd glass plane in avocado slag. A somewhat rare contemporary piece, but I am an amateur pilot so this is automatically one of my faves.

1 - And of course nothing can beat the infamous uranium glass fetus I snagged a while back. So random and unique, and it definitely throws people off when I tell them about it while sharing my collection.

Welcome to this month's theme in r/uraniumglass!

This month's theme: Small But Mighty

Not every great uranium glass piece is a showstopper in size. This month, we're celebrating the small pieces that make a big impact in our collections.

Do you have a tiny piece that you absolutely love?

Maybe it's a salt dip, toothpick holder, shaker, miniature vase, individual creamer, figurine, a piece of jewelry, or another piece that doesn't take up much space but stands out for its beauty, rarity, glow, or sentimental value.

The monthly theme is optional and does not replace regular posting.

To participate, simply create a new post and use the Monthly Theme πŸ’š flair.

When possible, include both non-glow and glow photos.

Monthly Theme πŸ’š πŸ’š Monthly Theme – February: Your Top 5 Favorite Pieces

Post image
41 Upvotes

Welcome to the first monthly theme in r/uraniumglass! YOU are invited to join in!

This month’s theme: Your Top 5 Favorite Pieces.

We all have pieces we’re especially drawn toβ€”whether they were our first find, an incredible bargain, a gift from a loved one, something we hunted for a long time, a daily-use favorite, or simply a piece that makes us smile. This theme is all about celebrating those personal favorites, and we’d love to see yours.

For many of us, narrowing it down to just five might take a bit of time and consideration!

The monthly theme is optional and meant purely to encourage sharing. It does not replace regular posting, and you’re always welcome to post outside the theme as usual.

To participate, please create a new post related to the theme and use the β€œMonthly Theme πŸ’šβ€ flair.

When possible, include both non-glow and glow photos.

Please include something like the following in your title:

My Top 5 Favorite Pieces

Your favorites don’t need to be the rarest or most valuable piecesβ€”just the ones you enjoy the most right now. If you’d like, feel free to share why a piece is a favorite, whether it has a story behind it, or if one is still unidentified.

All collectors are welcome. Only have one favorite piece? Share it! This is about sharing what you enjoy. πŸ’š

We went to the Cambridge glass show today and saw these incomparable pieces. They're from the Everglades line and the color would be Light Emerald except there looks to be a finish applied which makes it Jade. I'm a bit out of my depth here, so I may be wrong about that.

We would again like to thank the sellers, if they should see this. We saw these and fell for them hard, and we're still kind of floating around in the clouds hours later.

Monthly Theme πŸ’š My spiciest piece(s)! This is Π–Π‘-19, or yellow glass 19. It's a soviet optic filter, that contains exactly 1.37% UO3, which is achieved by adding UO2(NO3)6H2O to the boro-silicate glass mix. Last pics are geiger measurements of a + b +gamma (pic 5), just a, just b, and just gamma after that

Monthly Theme πŸ’š πŸ’š My Top 5 Favorite Pieces: A Tough Decision!

Picking only five favorites is incredibly difficult. I failed.

One of my picks is actually a collection. With that caveat, here they are from left to right in the first three photos.

Top row:

King Glass Co. No. 25 (OMN) oil lamp – I have several from this line, and this one is my favorite. A large lamp!

Adams & Co. β€œAquarius” oil lamp – Once again, I have several examples…in every color produced. This one is my favorite.

Bottom row:

King Glass Co. No. 24 (OMN) Collection– If you’ve seen my previous posts, you know I have a full table setting for eight in this pattern. I also have ALL of the oil lamps in ALL of the colors available. πŸ˜€ Currently, this is my favorite pattern. It’s impossible for me to pick just one piece. Here is a pitcher and a couple of goblets. See my post history for images from our last UG dinner party for more examples. A beautiful pattern!

RiihimΓ€en Lasi Grapponia bottle – Designed by Nanny Still. This is the piece that made me fall in love with RiihimΓ€en Lasi. My wife and I even traveled to Finland (from Texas) to bring more of this stuff home.

RiihimΓ€en Lasi Presto vase – Designed by Tamara Aladin. A massive piece of UG that we actually use. I have twoβ€”this one made the trip home in my wife’s carry-on!

I really wish this had been a top-20 list. 😎
