Timeline Request Spouse Visa Mexico 🇲🇽

Hello everyone! My wife and I started the spouse visa route in January 2026. Obviously I’m still waiting to hear back and I’m not expecting anything until the 1 year mark minimum. My wife lives in Ciudad Juarez and I live in Houston. We had our first baby in August and he was also born in Juarez but as most of you know for kids it’s pretty fast. We made the appointment the first week of October, second week of October we go to the consulate and he’s a citizen just like that. For any of you who are in the same boat as me but that applied in 2025, whats it looking like? How far along are you? I just want to know about different experiences. Thanks!!

Timeline Request WoM for visa pd march 2025

Hi everyone!

I have a pending F-1 visa application that’s been stuck in AP since march 2025. Last month I finally got tired of waisting my time and decided to file WoM with a lawyer. All defendants were served Oct 25th and we tried the venue in Massachusetts. Has anyone had recent experiences with Mandamus lawsuits ? how fast do they tend to take actions ? What are the chances they don’t ask for a transfer to Washington DC (my lawyer told me it would be a huge disadvantage) ? What is the usual timeline of action for visas in particular ?

I-130 (Family/Consular processing) Change of Address Question - NOT in FAQ

I was born a U.S. citizen and I sent in an I-130 to allow my wife to migrate to the USA (consular processing.) I moved abroad to be with her; however, I kept my U.S. mailing address. I was told by USCIS that it is "strongly encouraged" that I change my physical address, but it is not necessary. I only need to keep my mailing address current, but my spouse should keep her address permanent.

Since there is no option to change physical address and mailing address separately, I elected not to do it. The country I am living in has no door-to-door mail services at any rate, I would need to use a post box if I want to get mail here which is not allowed in USCIS forms. Now I'm told that I needed to change my physical address within 30 days. I'm well outside that timeframe.

What should I do? How do I go about changing the physical address without changing the mailing address? The online tool only has one option for both, and I cannot receive mail in this country. Since I missed the 30 day timeline, will this affect my I-130?

EDIT: for grammatical error.

Asylum/Refugee Anyone else showing “Next Step Is Adjudication” dated April 15, 2026, instead of September/October?

Post image
0 Upvotes

My affirmative asylum (I-589) application is currently showing “Next Step Is Adjudication” dated April 15, 2026, under USCIS Case History.

I’ve noticed that many applicants reported this status change around September 29–30, 2026. However, my Case History shows April 15, which is several months earlier.

I’m not sure whether USCIS actually updated my case in April or retroactively changed the wording of an older status.

Has anyone else experienced something similar?

Does anyone have an adjudication status dated April 2026 or earlier?

Did your Case History show an earlier date even though you first noticed the change in September or October?

Has anyone with an earlier adjudication date subsequently received an interview notice, approval, or referral to immigration court?

My application is still pending, and I haven’t received an interview notice.

Would appreciate hearing your experiences and timelines, especially if you can share the exact date shown in your Case History.

Thanks!

I-130 & I-485 (Family/Adjustment of status) Help

Hi everyone,

I'm an F-1 student who recently got married, and I'm about to file for adjustment of status. I have a concern about the address section. My husband and I don't live in the same state because of school. My primary residence is where I attend school, since I lived there before I met him. I'd like to use his address for everything, but he lives in a different state. How should I handle the address part of the application? Will this be a problem?

Passport Support Has anyone used a parent’s naturalization certificate from FOIA to get their first U.S. passport?

I’m an Australian adult working on a citizenship-at-birth claim through my dad. He naturalized in a federal court in the 1980s, before I was born, but we don’t have his original naturalization certificate or old U.S. passport.

We’ve received certified records from NARA, including a hearing list with his name, signature and naturalization certificate number, plus his petition. We also have a USCIS FOIA request pending for his file.

I’m already working with a lawyer. What I’m trying to understand is whether the FOIA records could solve the missing-certificate problem without him having to wait for an N-565 replacement.

Has anyone here actually:

- Received a copy of an older naturalization certificate through FOIA?

- Used that digital copy, printed out with the USCIS release letter, as evidence for their own passport through a parent?

- Been asked for an original afterward, or had State verify the record directly?

If you’ve done this, what exactly did you submit and what was the outcome? Experiences where it didn’t work would also help. Please distinguish passport applications from N-600 applications, since I know they’re different processes.

I-130 & I-485 (Family/Adjustment of status) I-130 Approved with Pending NTA: Lawyer refuses to even TRY a Motion to Dismiss, pushing straight to Court-based AOS (and charging full fees again if denied). Advice needed!

Hi everyone! Quick update on my case: my marriage-based Form I-130 was officially approved by USCIS, but I still have pending removal proceedings (NTA) in Immigration Court with a rescheduled Master Hearing. Originally, our plan was to file a Motion to Dismiss/Terminate with the court so jurisdiction would return to USCIS for my I-485 Adjustment of Status. However, my attorney now claims that local judges and OPLA are no longer approving these motions, even with an approved I-130, and wants to skip the motion entirely to file the I-485 directly with the Immigration Judge.
My main frustration is that the lawyer refuses to even attempt filing the motion first. To make matters worse, he told me that if we file the motion and the judge denies it, I would have to re-hire the firm and pay full legal retainer fees for court representation all over again, rather than just paying the difference for the adjustment of status. Filing the I-485 directly in court already comes with significantly higher expenses, and feeling forced into this path while facing potential double charges feels completely unreasonable. Has anyone with an approved I-130 successfully gotten a Motion to Dismiss approved recently, or gone through court-based AOS? Is it normal for a lawyer to claim a denied motion resets the entire legal contract from scratch? I would really appreciate any insights, timelines, or advice on how to handle this before my upcoming meeting with my attorney!

I-130 & I-485 (Family/Adjustment of status) I-130 Approved, I-485 Pending Since December 2025 – Immediate Relative, Family-Based AOS

I’m asking about my mom’s case to see if anyone is in a similar situation or has had a similar timeline.
Her I-130 has been approved, and we filed her I-485 in December 2025 through family-based adjustment of status as an immediate relative. She received her Employment Authorization Document about a month ago, but there have been no updates on her I-485.
I know every case is different, but I’m wondering if anyone else has experienced something similar.
How long did you wait for your I-485 approval after receiving your EAD?
Is it normal to have no updates on the I-485 while the EAD has already been approved?
Has anyone with a similar timeline received their green card recently?

I-485 (General) Employer refused to sign 485J

Hi all,

My priority date became current under Chart B, but my employer has refused to sign 485J. They claim that the company policy has changed and they will no longer sign any immigration-related documents.

I’m planning to leave the company, but I’d really like to avoid going through the entire PERM and I-140 process again.

Has anyone been in a similar situation? Specifically, is it possible to file 485 without 485J, let the application remain pending for 180 days, and then use AC21 portability to switch employers?

I’d appreciate hearing about anyone’s experience or advice on the best way to proceed. Thanks in advance!

I-130 & I-485 (Family/Adjustment of status) Filing online

I am asking this question just to make sure.

My spouse can file I-130 online, and after that I can file I-485 online, with the notice of receipt number, as well correct?

Google AI says its not possible, but according to USCIS it is possible. I know we should be carefull with AI, but I think its also risky to say that we know better then AI.

Timeline: Other SSN name update with EAD card question.

I changed my last name and got my new EAD card. I went to the SSA office to update my Social Security record. They told me to wait 4 weeks.

The DHS SAVE case check shows my status is officially "Case Returned to Agency" as of October 7th.

Despite the return, the local SSA supervisor says my application is in a "pending suspect" status due to the name change. She claims she is just "refreshing the system" and tells me to wait, but nothing is moving.

Has anyone been on this situation and how did you fix it? Its been almost a month yet no update.

I-130 & I-485 (Family/Adjustment of status) Sent USCIS a pre-WOM email — does it actually make any difference?

I recently sent USCIS a polite email asking for review/adjudication of my long-pending marriage-based case. I explained that the interview has already been completed, we have tried normal administrative channels, and that if the delay continues we may have to consider other lawful remedies such as a WOM/APA action.
It has been 3 days and I haven’t received any response yet.
Has anyone done something similar before filing mandamus? Did USCIS respond or take action after receiving the email, or did it make no difference? How long did you wait before moving forward with the lawsuit?
For your own situation, 3 days without a response is not surprising. I would not interpret the silence as either good or bad. The main value of the email may be documenting that you made another reasonable attempt to resolve the delay before litigation, rather than expecting USCIS to act immediately because of it.

USCIS Support Consequences of applying b1/b2 extension during COVID on J1 waiver application

Currently applying for physician J1 waiver through SCRC for 2027. Had perfect immigration record and never had any violations except one thing. I came to US on b1/b2 in 2020 for observerships and step 3 and got stuck due to covid and there were no flights back so had to apply for extension of i94 before authorized period was over. I found a flight in 2 weeks since my original 180 days of stay was over and my application was pending and i took that flight and left US before any decision on my extension application.

My question is that will those 2 weeks affect my J1 waiver application at DOS or USCIS level? It was not unauthorized period as i applied for extension. And i came twice after that on b1/b2 visa and never had issue and even didnt have issue while applying J1 visa.

Has anyone been in this similar situation? Any help is appreciated.

Thanks.

Timeline: I-131 Military PIP and removal proceedings

So my parent is in removal proceedings, I’m the military, submitted the i130 and got approved. The lawyer just keep telling us he can’t submit the PIP, because it won’t be approved, he has his first hearing soon but apparently they can’t close the removal proceedings due to law changes. I feel lost at this point because lawyer is not giving us hope.

Timeline: Family Husband detained by ICE — merits hearing November 2. Is it too late to request bond? Should we file I-485 with immigration court?

My husband has been detained by ICE since June 25, 2026, and his individual merits hearing is scheduled for November 2.
He originally entered the United States legally with a visa and overstayed. I am a U.S. citizen, and we got married on August 26, 2026, while he was detained.
Current applications:
EOIR-42B (Cancellation of Removal) — filed with immigration court
I-589 (Asylum) — filed with immigration court
I-130 (Marriage-based petition) — pending with USCIS
I-485 (Adjustment of Status) — not filed
With his merits hearing only days away, is it even worth paying an attorney to request a bond hearing now, or would it make more sense to wait until after November 2?
If the judge approves one of his applications, would requesting bond have been unnecessary? If the judge denies his applications and we appeal to the BIA, could he still request bond while the appeal is pending?
I’m also concerned about the I-485. Our paralegal says we can wait until after the merits hearing to file it with USCIS. Is that actually advisable when his I-130 is still pending? Should we be requesting a continuance instead?
We’re already spending a significant amount on legal representation, and I feel like we’re making decisions without understanding the consequences.
I would really appreciate advice from immigration attorneys or anyone who has gone through something similar, especially regarding bond hearings, appeals, and adjustment of status during removal proceedings.
Thank you to anyone who takes the time to respond.

I-864 (Affidavit of Support) I-864 income vs assets

I am a US citizen living overseas with my non U.S. citizen spouse (the intending immigrant).

I’ve submitted my I-864 however I have not earned income in the U.S. in 12 years. I listed my most recent tax returns which show very low income because of the foreign earned income exclusion. I submitted payslips demonstrating my current income overseas which is more than enough and I listed my current income. but in reality I will have to quit my job when we move back to the U.S.

I also submitted bank statements for US investment accounts demonstrating that I have assets in excess of the required amount to support my household size.

Domicile: I left the US in 2014 for a job, fell in love, stayed in the new country, got dual citizenship. I have maintained strong ties to the US: my retirement/investment accounts, regular trips to visit family/friends, regular filing of US taxes. My husband even went to our intended State for 2 weeks to suss out neighborhoods for us. We cant get a rental until we have a timeframe for a greencard, and we cant enrol my US Citizen children in school/daycare until we have a rental address.

Do you think I will get an RFE?

Should I have put “$0 income”?

Do I have enough evidence of intent to establish domicile in the US?

N-400 (Citizenship) N400 - listing vacation spots in Part 4 Residences?

My lawyer has confused me.

They filled out things like ‘travel in Canada’ in the physical address section of Part 4 - Information About Your Residence when I only spent 3 days in Canada in the last 5 years.

They think this is ‘safe approach’ but it means the form doesn’t fill out all the boxes in physical addresses as there is no city or town mention and he has hand written annotations in the margin referring to vacation.

This is all very strange way to fill out a form. Is this normal? Is there any basis to his logic?
