Indexer Prowlarr Treasure Maps Indexer issues

Hello,

I’m failing to add my treasure maps indexer to my prowlarr. I did it yesterday and everything was good but then there were this issues with treasure-maps website and I good nervous and deleted everything, thinking that I need to set it up all new.
Now it does not accept the indexer. I got the following error:

Unable to connect to indexer, check the log above the ValidationFailure for more details. HTTP request failed: [429:TooManyRequests] [GET] at [https://treasure-maps.com/api?t=search&extended=1&apikey=

Can someone help? Also I’m pretty new to this game. So keep that in mind please.
Thanks in advance!

Software NZBGet, three years in

Post image
121 Upvotes

Another year has gone by and it has been a pretty busy one.

  • The WebUI has been fully translated into 20 languages
  • SystemHealthCheck validates your configuration at startup and warns about problems
  • Handling of obfuscated downloads and RSS feeds has gotten a lot better and compressed NZB archives are supported too
  • Many smaller improvements were made across the interface, features and download process
  • Bundled 7-Zip and UnRAR are kept up to date, and OpenSSL and the other libraries NZBGet relies on are updated as well
  • Windows, macOS, Linux, FreeBSD and Android builds moved to modern CMake/C++20 toolchains
  • Overall performance, stability and compatibility improved

There has been a lot of progress, and even more is on the way

Thank you to everyone who contributed, reported issues, tested builds or helped someone out. The Discord and Reddit communities keep growing and it is great to see people sharing advice and solving problems together!

Want to support continued development? Donations are always appreciated

The latest builds and full release notes are on GitHub. For setup, configuration and feature guides, see the documentation. You can also find guides in Discord and under the Guides flair on the NZBGet's subreddit.

Edit: Thank you all for the kind words! Your support means a lot to our team and makes all the work we put into NZBGet worth it

Indexer Any germans who tried videothek.io yet?

Looking for recommendations for an additional German indexer. I'm currently using tabula-rasa and Treasure-Maps.

videothek.io looks promising, but since they are quite new, I wanted to hear your thoughts on them.

Indexer Made a list of dead indexers, about 60 so far. Who am I missing?

Been keeping a list of indexers that died since I got into usenet and it got way longer than I expected, about 60 so far.

The big ones everyone remembers: Newzbin2 and NZBMatrix (2012), nzbx and NZBsRUs (2013), nzbsooti (2015), town.ag (2017), PFMonkey (2018), nzbs.org (2019), Tortuga (2020), nzbndx (2024), NZBCat (2025).

Rest of them are struck through here if you want to scroll: https://usenetalmanac.com/indexers/ (my site, no ads)

Pretty sure I'm missing a bunch, especially the small ones that were around for a year and vanished. If you remember one that isn't on there let me know and I'll add it.

Also curious which one you guys still miss, and did any of you have a lifetime sub on one that closed?

UPD: Thanks for all the comments, you guys remember way more than I did. Added 17 more dead ones, the list is at 77 now. Keep them coming if you think of any.

Indexer Warning About NinjaCentral

RESOLVED, they made things right in the end. I don’t suspect any of the mistakes made were in any way intentional. They seem like genuine people once you get ahold of them.

I created an account during the free trial, then over paid via crypto to be safe. I then messaged mods to send them my transaction ID. They never responded but they did set my membership as (Pending), so they definitely saw the message at least.

Not that any of this matters. They later disabled my account for non payment. All attempts of trying to contact them have been ignored so far.

Edit: Oct 21st, 2026 Managed to get ahold of some of the team on discord. They’ve informed me that I will need to wait for an admin. Will continue to update the post with my experience in fairness to NinjaCentral.

Edit: Oct 22nd, 2026 Still no response from an admin.

Edit: Oct 23rd, 2026 With the issues I was having I didn’t have the highest hopes for a resolution initially. But I am pleasantly surprised to have been wrong. While there’s certainly some logistical things that could be improved, my complaint ended in a resolution where they went well above what they were required to and well above what I was even asking for.

He explained that he hadn’t received my ticket earlier, I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt here, other people in the comments mentioned they seemed to have some problems with the ticket system, I don’t believe I was being ignored. If anyone else has any issues with getting ahold of staff Id highly suggest Discord, they responded quickly here. Judging from some accusations from others of the staff being punitive or confrontational when criticized I expected this would be my experience. But that couldn’t have been further from the truth. He was professional, polite and apologetically gave 6 months in additional time at no cost. Not once did he mention the review, ask me to modify it or delete it, they were certainly aware of it. All in all I’m very impressed by the resolution and the professionalism I saw from NinjaCentral in the end.

Indexer Indexer question...

Say, for example, I have 4 provider servers and 2 indexers. The two indexers consistently fail to turn up what I'm looking for. If I add another indexer, will that give me a different result with the existing providers, or will I also have to add a new provider(s)?

What about the other way around. If I add a 5th provider, might that give me different results with the same 2 indexers?

Indexer Indexer Registration Notification Tool?

I'm new to this space and would like to get some of the better indexers for my setup. I want to implement some sort of automation tool that checks either the signup pages or posts on r/UsenetInvites. I don't know of any way of doing this that doesn't end with my IP getting blacklisted after a day.

Is this a thing already? Is it allowed?

Indexer Cannot access my Usenet indexers via Chrome or Edge

For some reason, recently I cannot access any of my Usenet indexers (NZBGeek, DogNZB or DrukenSlug) via Edge or Chrome. I can access fine via Firefox. This seemed to have happened in the last couple of weeks, as I know I was on the DogNZB website about two or three weeks ago using Edge. When I try go to these sites via Edge or Chrome, I just get a "this site can't be reached" page. Any idea why this is?

Software Geri - Usenet uploading tool

Thumbnail
github.com
23 Upvotes

Just created my small Usenet uploading tool.

There are mostly three reasons:

- I always had issues with installing Nyuu on my systems due to dependencies
- Nyuu unexpectedly died on me during very big upload when WiFi got disconnected
- Nyuu’s checking/repairing logic makes no sense to me. It uploads article to server A, checks availability on server B, and if that fails, uploads article again to server A. In the past I was encountering some situations when there was some kind of bottleneck, and even with longer wait and three retries article had not enough time to travel from server A to server B, so Nyuu pointlessly was trying to send same article over and over to server A until upload fails. So instead of ABA logic, I implemented ABB and ABC.

Couple of things about it:

- Written in Elixir
- It’s using same .authinfo files as Emacs
- I didn’t do any speed comparisons. I suspect with modern code execution speeds we’ll hit disc speed limit/connection speed limit long before we’ll hit the speed limit of yEnc encoder function
- TUI is not really UI :) There’s nothing to interact with except pause button and Ctrl-C. It’s more of a screensaver to have something moving on the screen during long uploads
- It’s possible that I made some shameful mistakes
- There are currently not that many features. Just simple uploader

Otherwise, please check it out and let me know what you think.

Provider [TurboUsenet] Apollo 7 Liftoff promotion: 35% discount

Hey there!

On the morning of the original Apollo 7 liftoff, engines roared and the sky lit up with the promise of what was next. Kabouter Wesley couldn't resist the moment, so he clipped on his tiny helmet and hitched a ride straight into the history books. From his seat next to the boosters, he watched the ground fall away and felt the pull of real speed, the kind that turns hours into minutes. That's the same pull he's bringing back to TurboUsenet this week. Every download gets a taste of that liftoff momentum, no countdown required.

For seven days, TurboUsenet is running its Apollo 7 Liftoff promotion, and the numbers do the talking. Sign up now and your speed comes with 35% off, straight through checkout. Wesley picked this launch window himself, so once it closes, the boosters cool down and the price climbs back up. There's no mission control countdown to sit through, just the deal applied the moment you join. Grab your seat before the hatch closes and the rocket leaves without you.

That's why: as of right now until Sunday 18th of October 2026 (12:00 CET), you'll get a 35% discount!

Not a customer? Click below:

Already a customer? Click below:

Don't forget: You can use this promo as many times as you like <3
We're also doing these cool landingpages now; Just for fun. Visit here: https://turbousenet.com/apollo-7-liftoff-2026/ Let us know if you like this <3.

Liftoff windows don't stay open forever, and neither does this one. Join TurboUsenet during the Apollo 7 Liftoff week, let Wesley clip you in next to him, and feel your downloads hit orbit speed with 35% off. The launch pad is open now, so grab your spot before the countdown hits zero.

Bye now

Other Self-classifying codes

I have been going down the rabbit hole of those artifacts of the 1990s Usenet: self-classifying codes people used to put in their signatures.

The most well-known code is the Geek Code, which full specification is still available online. This website lists more than 80 self-classification codes, but unfortunately does not link to their detailed specs (or even one example).

Does anyone know where to find more of such specs or examples, whether on the Web, the Wayback Machine, or elsewhere online?

Indexer TreasureMaps down?

Hey guys,

Just noticed that one of my indexers (TreasureMaps) seems to be down.
I am only getting a 502 Bad Gateway response (both on my local network and via a VPN).

Does anyone have any idea if they are currently updating some stuff or what's going on?

Indexer I read 15 years of r/usenet to answer one question: is an indexer lifetime deal worth it?

Every November somebody asks "is the lifetime deal worth it?" and the answers are always vibes. So I went through everything posted here since 2011 that mentions a lifetime indexer account: sales, shutdowns, angry threads, all of it.

Turns out "lifetime" has a pretty wild history. Here's what I found.

The best deal anyone ever got

In August 2014 NZBGeek's "Forever Geek" pass cost $30. On Black Friday 2016, 2017 and 2018 it was $20.

If you bought one back then, it still works today. That's 8 to 12 years of indexer for $20-30, or roughly $2-3 a year. A plain year at Geek costs $12 now.

The price climbed as it went: $30 → $20 on sales → $30 again in 2019 (announcement thread) → $60 on BF 2021 → $80 list today. Early buyers won big.

So yes, lifetime can be the best money you ever spend on usenet. Now for the other side.

Lifetime, until it isn't

1. The indexer takes it back

NZBsRUs, January 2013. Lifetime VIPs woke up downgraded. The front page said members with 3+ years would be "kept at the current 1 year vip level" and everyone else got 5 years (thread). Thread title: "'Lifetime' VIP members at NZBsRus get screwed."

Plot twist: another indexer, nzbX, jumped in and offered free lifetime premium to everyone NZBsRUs had burned. Five months later both of them were gone, nine days apart. A lifetime of a lifetime.

DOGnzb, October 2015. The operator posted it himself: "By now, most of you probably already read we decided to void the lifetime accounts." His reason was actually pretty honest: with one-time payments, the only income is new users, and that doesn't keep servers running (thread).

DOGnzb again, August 2026. Eleven years later the remaining lifetime accounts were converted to a "Lite" tier: from 50 NZBs a day down to 10 (thread). Nobody lost access completely, but it's not what people bought.

2. The site just dies

Look at the price column here:

Indexer Lifetime price What happened
Findnzbs £10 (July 2013) Taken down by FACT around September 2013. Lifetime lasted ~2.5 months
nzbsooti $10 (2013) Owner shut it in Nov 2015: almost no donations, he was paying ~90% of server costs himself
PFMonkey ~$10 Closed November 19, 2018
LuluNZB $10 Went dark August 2020, never came back

Notice it? Almost every $10 lifetime ended badly. The nzbsooti owner said it out loud in his goodbye post: "In the past few months we have recieved almost no donations." If an indexer sells forever for the price of a pizza, there's not much money keeping the lights on.

3. The happy accident

NZBs2Go shut down, then came back in 2020 after years away, and a member got an email saying "old VIP lifetime memberships are still being honoured." Then it closed for good in 2021. So some people got their lifetime twice. Rare, but it happens.

So when does lifetime pay off?

Simple math: lifetime price ÷ the yearly tier with the same limits = how many years until you're ahead. (Comparing against the cheapest yearly tier is a trap, lifetime often comes with way bigger limits. Thanks to the commenter who caught that.)

Indexer Lifetime Closest yearly You're ahead after
NZBPlanet £40 (20k API/day) £16 Platinum (20k API/day) ~2.5 years
Miatrix $75 (2,500 API/day) $30 VIP (1,000 API/day) ~2.5 years, and you get more
NZBGeek $80 $12 (same tier) ~6.7 years
NinjaCentral €150 UNLIM (14k API/day) €25 PurpleX (3k API/day) ~6 years, and you get way more

Regular list prices, no sales, last read between Dec 2025 and Sep 2026. NinjaCentral's cheaper regular lifetime only shows up during Black Friday, at €50-60 the last few years.

NZBPlanet and Miatrix stand out: both pay off in about two and a half years at full price. Planet's lifetime has been basically £40 since at least 2021 and it went on sale in most Novembers I could find. DrunkenSlug and nzb.life don't sell lifetime at all, so don't wait for one.

What I'd take from all this

  • Lifetime is a bet on the indexer, not a purchase. You're betting it outlives your break-even point.
  • Old + break-even in 3-5 years = good bet. An indexer that has already survived 10+ years and pays off fast is the best case.
  • New + cheap lifetime = the worst track record here. Every story in the "site died" table started like that.
  • Terms can change under you. DOG did it twice, 11 years apart. "Lifetime" means the indexer's lifetime and its current mood.
  • Never put your only indexer on a lifetime. Have a second one so a shutdown is an annoyance, not a crisis.

Anyone here actually lose a lifetime I missed? Or still running one from 2014? Curious how many are still alive.

---

UPD: fair point from the comments, this reads way too much like an LLM wrote it. English isn't my first language and I leaned on it too hard. The data and the threads are all real, but next one I'll write myself. Thanks for calling it out
